Lincoln generally didnât mind interacting with new people ( he had gotten way more comfortable and confident the past few months ), but this was different, mostly because the person standing in his apartment wasnât a stranger, completely. It was a confusing middle ground he wasnât sure how to react to. So instead of being chatty, he stayed quiet.
Or at least, the plan was to stay quiet. Heâd just been nodding and making a note of what the other was saying before Kahloâs actions caught him off guard and he was left in stunned silence; was he supposed to reprimand the kitten? That didnât seem like the right thing to do, and she probably had no idea what sheâd done âwrongâ anyway.
But that didnât mean that Lincoln had to keep a straight face. He ended up laughing loudly against the back of his hand, turning away as if that would actually somehow hide his amusement. âOh my god.. Iâm sorry for laughing. That was just so fucking randomâ holy shit..â Once he had a minute, he took a deep breath and looked back to Nico as if nothing had happened, trying to put his poker face back on. âSo uh.. You said fifteen minutes?â
â.. Yup.â At least he was entertaining? Nico found it funny too, but he was more happy that it helped break some of the tension. He broke out into a grin and started petting the cat again. âAt least 15 minutes a day! They get bored too. She got playful really fast so I donât think sheâs sick. She wouldnât feel like moving at all or be really uncomfortable with me moving her around. I can always refer you to someone though if she doesnât get better. But Iâm sure sheâll be fine.â
He gently set Kahlo down on the ground and nodded. âSheâs cute, by the way.â But what cat wasnât cute? Afterwards, he put his hands in his pockets and looked at Lincoln. âAlsoooo...â Determination to keep away more uncomfortable silence was his motivation. âCould we re-do introductions?â
A response wasnât waited for before he cleared his throat and smiled. âIâm Nico. Nice to meeting you, kid! .. Erm.â From what he knew, the age gap was only a few years. âNot literal kid, obviously. Can we re re-do introductions?â

Honestly. Just because his roommate was impregnating half of Seoul didnât mean Christian could do whatever he wanted in the apartment. He was about to say that. Didnât quite get the chance to though. â⊠What?â Oh jeez. He pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed as he tried again not to smile. What the hell? The world really was against him today. âYour faces makes my eyes burn, Nico. Donât insult the dog like that.â
But heâd feel bad for the dog if she had to be carted around. Carried off from place to place. Maybe she could stay. For a day. Just a little until somewhere else was found. âThe most I can do is a day⊠One day! You have to figure out what to do after that. I have work the day after tomorrow. I am not going to call in so I can dog-sit.â
Nico knew he was going to win before it became obvious the last few seconds. âOne day!â he agreed with an enthusiastic nod. âAnd today doesnât count because itâs past business hours. That means all of tomorrow, and I can pick her up the morning after.â Negotiating might as well be rushed since there was only a narrow window for it. âI swear Iâll pick her up before you go to work. I should find someone else by then.â
The beagle started to shift around to get comfortable, so Nico scooted back on the couch to give her more room. âSee? Sheâs already making herself at home! Who knows? Maybe youâll even end up adopting her.â He knew it wouldnât happen, but it was always fun to annoy Christian a little. âI already have all~ the paperwork ready. Should I get it?â Sunja finally flopped down literally and let out a comfortable sigh. âNevermind, my heart just melted. I need a second to recover.â
⥠âžâžâž    âI know butâŠâ She had no excuse, really. Dogs always frightened her, anyways. The rational thinking of handling this situation ( or any other, in which a dog was included ), had failed her. Breathing a sigh of relief, she had stopped just behind the man, to catch her breath from all the running she had done. It was for a split moment that she lost balance and almost faceplanted on the ground, but fortunately she managed to not. It was going to be rather embarrassing if it happened, wouldnât it? âAh, itâs okay â Iâm okay!â She exclaimed and took a few steps back, just in case, hoping that the monster will soon give up on them and run off to find another target to chase after. She was planning to properly thank the hero who had saved her.
Thankfully more crises was averted. One was enough. When Nico heard that the stranger was okay, he turned to hush and calm the dog down because hopefully it had some training. âHey, heeeey. Shhhh.â Ears immediately perked up now that it had direct attention, and the dog seemed to wait to see what he said. âYou shouldnât be chasing people, Cute Stuff.â It had no idea what he was saying... but it was boring. Some human talking wasnât as interesting as chasing one. Nico barely had the time to say another word before the canine saw some people playing in the distance. Ah, more movement: and it bolted. â... Cool. I was worried Iâd have to pull one of those Jurassic World moves.â He turned to the woman and grinned. âThe beast is gone, but I wouldnât run around again just yet. You sure youâre okay?â
Itâs on the tip of his tongue âno, but I kiss your momâsâ but heâs not looking to piss this guy off any further. He doesnât spend enough time with his mom to for her to hear how her only son is a piece of shit. They do talk daily on the phone, minimum of twenty minutes but he censors himself considerably, he doesnât need a lecture so he keeps his toes straight. âTell me.. you think I could have a successful radio show? I have a nice voice, my face is made for the big screen but I wouldnât mind having a podcast or something.â
âMaybe.â The honesty is as neutral as he could make it. âI think youâd find an audience if you kept talking the way you do now. Iâd listen. Itâd be different from the usual!â Plus, Nico is curious to see the response. Even when he randomly drops in on his friendâs radio show for a quick segment, he keeps himself in line. He imagines it would not be the same with Chester. But heâs not the only one with bold opinions: maybe just one of the few to speak out about them. âYouâd have people hating your show, but others who loved it. Youâd be okay with that?â
âWhat? No, I donât---â Quiet, embarrassed laughter replaced the rest of his words, and Nico rubbed a hand over his face. He didnât mean to come off as that excited to finally know a friendly neighbor in the apartment complex. It was just that everyone seemed to like to be alone: and they were not always nice about it. Maybe it had to do with the fact he was always parading animals up and down the hallway. So, he was happy to have some actual conversation with someone else who lived in the building. âYeah, sorry I didnât mean to come off like such a doofy kid.â He shook his head and continued to fold his laundry on top of one of the dryers. âItâs just... cool! Everyone else here so far has been lame and rude. I think they stuck me on the Angry Old People Floor. On purpose? Definitely on purpose.â

âChristian, I will fucking fight you: right here, right now. You take that back. Cats are a gift to this world and just because theyâre not as social as dogs doesnât mean they donât deserve love too. Youâre not social, but do I hate you?â The pause that came afterwards was used to pretend like he was thinking his own question over. Nico eventually shrugged and nodded his head a few times. âActually I do right now. So, you better stop with the... cat-titude.â
âWhat? Like sheâs on the rag or some shit? Not my fault, give that bitch some chocolate and tell her to chill the fuck out ââ he wasnât supposed to be affected. Heâs not but sometimes itâs annoying how everyone is so Woke âą now when no one can truly be self-aware and politically correct all the time. Donât get they get tired of always being so careful? Che talks without thought ninety percent of the time, he starts a spiel and goes with the flow. He doesnât have to think âhmm maybe this is probably fucked up ââ heâd rather own up to his shit than put up some holier than you act. âEnough about that ââ
Nico is definitely annoyed, but itâs quickly replaced with shock when Chester opens his mouth. He knows heâs blunt but it always catches him off guard when itâs... that being said. Whatever he wants to call that kind of phrasing. The word vulgar crosses his mind and he actually looks around to see if anyone overheard. Christ. He allows himself to chuckle a little once the coast is clear and his focus goes back to Chester. âDo you kiss your mom with that mouth? Seriously. Dang, man.â But it wasnât like he took offence: he could care less what people said as long as it didnât venture into threats or something more serious.
âI spent like three hours sorting through old records my boss ordered on ebay,â sungja sighed, stabbing a piece of meat with a chopstick. âHalf of them were broken, and he wonders why the storeâs in trouble when he buys shit like that.â After shoving food in her mouth and chewing thoughtfully, she flashed him a mischievous smile, âthink anyoneâd notice if I got rid of him and took over? Heâs never around anyway.â
Poor food. He stopped eating long enough to watch the violence on Sungaâs plate with raised eyebrows. âYou get what you pay for?â The tone was distracted at first, but his attention was caught again with the mention of an employee uprising. âYouâre gonna kill your boss? Over records?â Nico chuckled and started to nudge around the food in front of him to look for a better piece of chicken. âI saw an American movie once called Horrible Bosses. It was funny, but it didnât go well... You wouldnât have the guts to get rid of him!â
Despite the impression a head of hair as vibrant as hers may give a total stranger, the alien certainly wasnât the assertive or bold type. Initiating conversation took a decent chunk of courage on her part, and luckily he seemed to reciprocate her well-intended efforts by humoring her with an amiable response. âMaybe,â she admitted, dipping her head shyly as she reached for her iced coffee. Expecting that to be the end of their conversation, she perked up a bit in surprise when he continued.
At first, Lucy just bobbed her head at the explanation. Certainly everyone had those days every so often, right? Stuck and lost, though. Those were a couple of things the stranded alien could understand a little too well. âAh, I see,â she nodded, thoughtful gleam in her eye as she composed her thoughts with a brief glance around. It was cuteâthis cafe. It had a rustic charm to it with distressed, wooden panels along the walls. A little dark, a little worn, but warm. âMaybe being stuck or lost helps you look for where you want to be? Or, at least the very least, you know that something isnât working.â
âThat leaves a lot of places to look.â He placed an elbow on his table and cocked his head to the side. âBut I guess thatâs a new way to think about it.â There was an immediate curiosity on whether or the stranger knew what she was talking about: either answer was interesting to think about. She could relate, or she didnât and was lucky enough to know where she was going in life. At least thatâs how he saw it.
âDo you know what works for you?â It mightâve been too much to have someone question their place in the world, but he couldnât help it. Every new person was another chance to see what they were doing right. And maybe he could see what he was missing or doing wrong in finding his own niche. He leaned over to rest his cheek against the palm of his hand. âYou donât have to answer that question, by the way. No pressure.â Nico smiled again to reassure the bright haired stranger and lifted his cardboard cup as a sort of salute: his disquisitive gaze not leaving her face as he waited for her answer.

âIâm not worried about your behavior.â Was he really talking to the dog? Just for a sec. To make a point. âIâm worried about your caretakerâs. And his hoarding problem.â Christian didnât want to budge on this. Didnât want to give in for the 1,000th time. He already knew where this would lead to. Heâd up with a village in his apartment in no time. Just like before.
âWhy not move into a building where they actually allow pets?â Nope. No giving in. He crossed his arms. Raised an eyebrow. Kept a straight face. âMy roommate is going to wonder why there is a random dog in the apartment.â Eyes turned towards said dog. Bad idea. Definitely a bad idea. It was staring up at him now and goddammit. He had to fight the urge to smile. ââŠâ It wasnât fair. But again? Stay strong. âIâm also too busy to be taking her out for a walk every day. Or watching her in general.â Good excuses, right?
âAnd IâŠâ Nevermind. Excuses were running out. âJust no.â
âHoarding!? Dai, as if!â Nico let go of the dogâs paw so he could wave Christian away instead with a shooâing motion. âI donât hoard, I house. Thereâs a big difference: itâs not like Iâm collecting animals to keep in my basement. Iâd buy a huge house to foster them all if I could!â The obvious problem was a lack of money, both for the rent of a nicer place and all the pet deposits thatâd be necessary. âItâs a week. Canât your roommate help?â
He resumed petting the dogâs head as he spoke with a scoff at the edge of his words. âOr, didnât you tell me heâs always out picking up women anyway? I donât think heâll notice Sunja laying around. She doesnât take a lot to take care of... Plus how can you pick him over this cute lâil angel?â Nico went silent before he grinned.
âOh, and the dog too I guess.â
âIf âiâm sorryâ was always enough there would be no police. Watch where you are going.â Yoona says angrily and glares at him. âLook what you did to my shoes! I broke the heel because of you!â
âDang okay---â Nico held up his hands and took a step back. âI donât know why you have to bring the police into this,â he joked as a way to hopefully? calm things down. âI could help replace them if it means so much to you.â
Well, then. Lincoln hid the fact he was a little off-put when Kahlo was suddenly taken from him, instead crossing his arms and watching as she interacted with the other; he didnât think anything would happen, but he was protective nonetheless.
âEvery once in a while? Itâs not like sheâs got a play schedule or anything.â Should she? He wasnât aware of anything like that being necessary ( he knew dogs needed a thirty minute walk every day, but was there certain requirements for felines, too? that sounded bizarre ). âNah, itâs fine, youâre the expert or whatever so go ahead and do your thing.â The brunet waved it off, not wanting to make a deal about a little bit of annoyance.
It was only at the words âIâve heard a lot about youâ that he looked up, not sure how he should react to something like that. âOh, uhm.. Nice to meet you? Iâm Lincoln.â Believe it or not, being called out on being awkward, only made him feel even more awkward, and there was now a vague feeling of jealousy at the statement. âYeah.. So, back to Kahlo?â
The realization he had actually made things worse made his smile fade. Here he was trying to be friendly, but he was running into a barrier: most people eased up after he offered the olive branch. The rejection made him retreat and go strictly professional.
âSomething like that. At least 15 minutes a day should be the minimum. I donât see anything immediately wrong so she could just be bored if she doesnât have anything to do.â Nico turned his attention to said cat, lightly scratching behind her ear. The great thing about animals was they didnât create awkward tension or care about it.
âBut I could stick around a while to make sure. At 1st look, she seems oka---â A paw reached out and swatted him in the face out of the blue and Nico flinched before he could finish his sentence. âHey! Whatâs wrong with you?â He couldnât help but laugh and gently took hold of the catâs arm to keep from being hit again. âSheâs a lâil feisty.â
Plots. Lots and lots of plots. I finally finished compiling them! Credits to friends, and here, here, here, here, and here. IM me if one catches your attention, or I'll message you instead if you like the post! ( á )Ù
APARTMENT / NEIGHBOR PLOTS
I decided to jump the apartmentâs pool gate at 2AM for some solo night swimming and... Who are you? Do you even live here? Yeah I know Iâm breaking apt rules but thatâs not the point and so are you!
MUSE Aâs apt was broken into and ransacked. Feeling unsafe, MUSE A asks MUSE B to let them stay at their place until the police have apprehended the criminal. This can be a pre-est relationship, or they're only casual acquaintances but MUSE A has no where else to go.
LOL you act like such a tough guy but this apartment has thin walls so guess what? i can actually hear you when you watch horror movies and shriek so why do you watch them if uâre scared also do you want me to watch them with you bc iâm never scared
Apart from a few casual conversations on the walk up to their floor or brief meetings at the mailbox, Muse A and Muse B havenât gotten the chance to get to know each other. When the power goes out throughout the building, on a particularly warm night, Muse A quickly sets out some candles to light their home, but they realize that they donât have any matches to light them (and their stove only works on electrical power). Knowing MUSE B is the closest neighbor, Muse A heads over to their apartment and asks for assistance.
I came to complain about something (pet, noise, a mess in the laundry room, etc) but holy shit it smells good in your apartment what are you cooking and can I have some
you used to live in ur apartment with your s/o until you broke up and they left and now youâre crying on the floor not because they left but because you canât sleep alone, so um im here???
GENERAL 1ST MEETING / FOR STRANGERS PLOTS
MUSE A scoots over to make room for MUSE B since the rest of the seats on the bus are taken. A minute or two after MUSE B sits down, they fall asleep and lean into MUSE Aâs shoulder. MUSE A tries to be polite and ignore the stranger sleeping on them, but then MUSE B starts to drool on their jacket.
I ran into you and your ex yelling at each other so you grabbed me and kissed me so theyâd go away and Iâm kind of freaked out I literally just met you??
MUSE A is trying to enjoy a night out with friends when they are approached by an obnoxious person who wonât take ânoâ for an answer. MUSE B notices whatâs going on and heads over to help MUSE AÂ out. At their wits end, MUSE AÂ turns to throw their drink in the creepâs face, but they end up splashing MUSE BÂ instead.
Itâs nearly closing time and MUSE AÂ is hammered. Playing the part of good Samaritan, MUSE AÂ attempts to get MUSE A into a cab home but they canât coherently give their address, so MUSE B takes MUSE A home with them instead until MUSE A can sober up some.
This queue is so long I canât wait to go home, wait I just realized our baskets of groceries are basically the sameâ
My favourite song came on the radio in this supermarket so I started quietly singing along only to find Iâm not the only one doing soâ
âThis shop has an offer on Oreos and I look like an idiot stuffing so many packets into my basket will you please stand near me so I donât look like Iâm alone?â
THEMED / MORE SPECIFIC 1ST MEET PLOTS
âi got a gig at a wedding (photographer, server, florist, etc) and i was sneaking some food bc iâm rly hungry but then you started chatting me up and youâre really cute how do you know theâwait a second yOUâRE NOT EVEN INVITED YOUâRE JUST A WEDDING CRASHER??? fuck arenât i supposed to kick u out?â
MUSE A is on the run from something or caught up in something important and MUSE B is a bystander they ran into
MUSE A owns a cat allowed free. They donât give much thought to the fact their cat is only around half of the time. Then the cat disappears and MUSE A, worried, creates missing posters. MUSE B answers the call for help stating that the cat on the poster looks very much like their own cat. MUSE A and MUSE B meet and realize that they have been sharing the same cat for a long time now and are forced to consider what they should do regarding ownership.
after a one night stand, the next morning isnât pretty. MUSE A and MUSE B turn out to hate each other on the way out the door, but just as MUSE B attempts to leave in a huff, a blizzard has trapped them inside. no power, little food, and no way home, both muses are stuck with each other for another night.
** This would obviously be a âpastâ thread since itâs spring now.
MUSE A is sipping tea by the window, watching the rain come down from the comfort of their warm, dry home. They peers out toward the quiet street just as MUSE B rides his/her bike by and runs into a huge pothole. Itâs a funny sight to behold, the poor soul drenched in muddy water, but ultimately MUSE A feels badly for the soaked stranger and decides to intervene. MUSE A pulls on a jacket and hurries outside to offer help.
PRE-ESTABLISHED RELATIONSHIPS
MUSE A is psyched to show MUSE BÂ the cool magic trick they just learned, despite MUSE Bâs insistence that they have somewhere to be. MUSE A promises itâll only take a minute. They handcuff themselves to MUSE B and tap the cuffs and say the magic words, but the cuffs stay cuffed. MUSE A has to tag along on MUSE Bâs blind date. Â Â **This is a purely comedic plot, not a shippy one.
MUSE A and MUSE B have been close friends for years. But fame and fortune breaks everything eventually. MUSE A became busy in the entertainment world spotlight. Originally, they were able to do a few things then meet back with MUSE B⊠but eventually it got too much. MUSE B feels abandoned by MUSE A because of how far away theyâve drifted. The fame and fortune got between their friendship and has broken them apart.
MUSE A and MUSE B meet at a wedding between friends. The wedding is long and boring and they respectively sneak off to drink/relax/ect in a secluded area (garden, coat room, ect) yet somehow bump into the other. The conversation is light at first but takes a turn when they start talking about the bride/groom. Pieces are put together from what each of them knows and they figure out the bride/groom is having an affair. What now?Â
MORE DETAILED / COMPLEX PLOTS
Eager to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life for the weekend, MUSE A retreats to the great outdoors for a little camping. Determined to spend the entire trip âoff the gridâ, MUSE A shuts off their cell phone before setting off to find the best spot to pitch their tent. As the sun starts to set and the temperature in the woods begins to drop, MUSE A is struck with the realization that theyâve left something important in the trunk of their vehicle [blankets, matches, cooking supplies, etc.]. MUSE A tries to hurry back to the car while thereâs still some daylight, but itâs not as close to the camp site as they thought and it isnât long before they get lost. Breaking their own no-tech rule when they start to panic, MUSE A is only able to get GPS signal on their cell phone for a few minutes before the battery dies. Luckily, MUSE B is camping just a few yards away from where MUSE A winds up. Itâs MUSE Bâs first time camping and they canât help but be startled by every snap of twig or rustle of leaves they hear around them. When they hear MUSE A nearing their camp site, theyâre relieved to have some company.
On their way to lunch, MUSE A makes a quick stop at the bank to withdraw some cash. MUSE A figures that theyâll use the ATM to get in and out with minimal fuss but both machines are out of order, so they must get in line to see a teller. MUSE B is line ahead of MUSE A. Caught up in their own thoughts, they donât notice each other, nor the suspicious activity of the person ahead of them whoâs just stepped up to the teller window and demanded a large sum of cash. When the teller instinctively reaches for the alarm button behind the counter, the robber draws a weapon and threatens to use it if the police come. MUSE A and MUSE B, along with everyone else but the teller is commanded to get down on the ground unless they want to be harmed. Realizing theyâve walked in on a bank robbery, MUSE Aâs fear overtakes them and they start to freak out. MUSE B notices MUSE A on the floor nearby and it tugs at their heart strings. Despite the danger, MUSE B crawls over to MUSE A and takes their hand. MUSE B puts on a brave face and tells MUSE A whatever they can to reassure them.
After a few tense minutes, that feel like hours, the robber grabs as much cash as they can and flees the bank without hurting anyone. The police are called as soon as the robberâs gone and little by little (after being questioned) people are allowed to trickle out of the bank. Once theyâre free to go, MUSE A finds MUSE B and thanks them for being so comforting. MUSE B offers to make sure that MUSE A gets home okay and MUSE A accepts. Sitting on the front porch of MUSE Aâs home, still shaken up, the pair share a long talk about what happened and how lucky they are to be alive. MUSE B promises to check in on MUSE A every once in a while, if they want, to which MUSE A agrees.

One would think that being blatantly and unabashedly stared at nearly every moment of her time spent out in public wouldâve taught the fiery-haired girl not to do the same to others. She didnât think it was that obvious, but clearly her curious glances at the stranger seated nearby mustâve been pretty noticeable. Her bright head automatically dipped in apology before the accompanying words softly escaped full lips, âIâm sorry.â Only after an awkward moment had passed did she realize that this man had spoken to her without even the slightest hint of an accent. Now she couldnât help but be even more intrigued than before.
Swallowing hard against the frog bobbing in her timid throat, Lucy braved an attempt at further conversation, âDo you..maybe want to talk about it?â Her face warmed several shades nearly as quickly as the question was asked. âI mean, Iâve heard that it helps to get it out sometimes, but ahâI understand if youâd rather be left alone.â
It was one thing to be used to looks, but he could do without it right now. The woman was at least kind enough to apologize and that brought down his defensiveness. Most acted like nothing happened. âYeah.â But it was Nicoâs turn to stare now since he hadnât noticed her before. How did that even happen? Her locks were easily spotted in a crowd.
But it was also his turn to get caught. âWhat?â It was an automatic response since he actually heard her perfectly. He seemed to gain some energy as his tired expression brightened a little with a smile. âDonât you think thatâs bold to ask a total stranger?â
It wasnât common, but it was considerate: he could appreciate it.
Truthfully he had no problem venting. Sometimes it was weirdly easier talking to someone random. Maybe because it wasnât a big deal if they judged? A weird look from a friend was more damaging. âThanks though. I guess itâs just one of those days.â The words were stressed with an eye roll before Nico ran a hand through already messy hair. âWhen youâre a lâil stuck, and lost.â It wasnât socially acceptable to pile your woes on a person you just met, so he gave a downplayed version of the dayâs crises instead.
âare you a weak drinker?â nami asked him as she raised her brows in surprise and took one more long sip of her drink. âi donât really get drunk easily. tequilla is like tea for me.â she said putting the glass down and turned to look at him. âand iâm not someone who loses her balance either.â she added with a wide smirk on her lips.
âMe? A weak drinker?â Laughter followed after he repeated the question back to Nami. âPlease! I guarantee I could out-drink you, I just choose not to.â Nicoâs shoulders raised with a shrug before he returned the smirk. âIn another life Iâd be making a bet right now. And Iâd be winning.â Yet the empty glass in front of him seemed to be taunting him. âBut again Iâm deciding to have mercy on you. Youâre welcome for that!â
