Experience is the best teacher – a fact with which Meghan Sullivan completely agrees. Currently a graduate student at the Yale School of Nursing, Meg went through a lot before entering the classroom. “For awhile, I fought with eating disorders,” said Meg. “I know the causes of anorexia now. But then…I just wanted to be thin.” Naturally a slim figure, Meg first started to have issues with her weight when she entered high school. This is a difficult time for most teenagers. However, Meg’s discomfort with her appearance was compounded by a vigorous, athletic lifestyle. Even as a freshman, Meg was a star on the Track Team. She was especially good at long distance races. “I love running. There is this release of utter joy and happiness from both my body and mind, I guess that is the ‘runner’s high.’” Unfortunately, Meg was unable to eat enough to keep up with running five to ten miles a day. “I know I was really upsetting (my) Mom and Dad.
