You raise a kid and have to let her go at 6 because you’re too sick to care for her properly. It’s not your fault but the hole in your heart from that day forward never fills again.

She saved my life and I had to let her go.

I console myself with the knowledge that she picked the adoptees, because I screened so many people for lifestyle and commitment, but after that, she picked. She went to them. Her reaction was immediate and decisive, there was no mistaking it for anything else. I am so glad she travels occasionally and was adopted into a fairly large family with other pets.

She’s living a full life.

This ghost faced dog is her now.

The txt pic was sent to me from her adoptees, fresh from yesterday, July 5, 2026. She’s 13, aging gracefully as she sits in a wildflower meadow in the Rockies.

The other two was when she was with me. On the day I adopted her and the other asleep in my lap a few months later.

I doubt she remembers me but I will never forget her.❤️
