So much to do all of a sudden! The weather this past week behaves like Spring the way it should have been two weeks ago mid-April even though the last frost date here is May 20-23.

Here I am making my first harvest today and the last killing frost is still 3 weeks away. It just proves that with ingenuity and determination and a little assistance from Mother Nature on her good days, it is possible to extend the growing season in even the most challenging places.

With a short season and at an elevation of 1,000m/3,000 ft and north winds buffeting down on short notice, this place can be very challenging so I take things as they come, LEARN and keep trying new ways, new things as I go.

It has worked for me so far.

Anybody who can grow in this environment without artificial means is a seasoned gardener in my book!!

How it all began— 6 yrs ago. I watched this video and it was just the right catalyst to get me going. And it’s true tender young radish leaves are delicious!

All the things a regular market can’t sell you. All that extra nutrition, never available… nothing beats a garden at home. 💚
