Well, it has been about a year since I started treatment. The heat intolerance has subsided but my hope has dwindled. Minimal symptoms have improved so here's to the next step đ Once my authorization goes through, I will get my PICC line inserted and start IV therapy. I will dose every 12 hours for 4 days and then take 3 days off and continue until I can switch to another intravenous medicine (somehow medicine is on backorder...?) Fingers crossed, but I can't get my hopes up. There's been too much let down over the past year.
My superpower is being hungry and nauseous at the same time.
Yes, hello, Iâd like a refund on my body. Itâs kinda defective and really expensive.

Iâm completely terrified of being like this for the rest of my life.

For Spoonie Strong Saturday, I'm resting. My body is in a major flare from my new treatment so I'm on bed rest. It finally caught up to me. I tried to go to a baseball game last night and had to get picked up by my parents.. couldn't do it. Today I'm very shaky, nauseous, depressed, and my skin is crawling. My goal is to move as little as possible...

I generally dislike all metaphors that use disabilities physical or mental.
You want to know whatâs crippling? Being a fucking cripple.
What to know whatâs sooooo bipolar? Being bipolar.
Can you fucking imagine?

How can someone stay positive and motivated when the end is nowhere to be seen.. it's not like I know how long I'll be in treatment for, who knows if this is even the worst part? Everyone tells me to be optimistic because Iâm on my way to being healthy. "Don't give up now!" If I wasnât resilient, I wouldnât still be here.
But when will I be be better? In 6 months? In a year? Longer?
Ugh
Iâm just tired; I just want the world to be quiet for a bit.

What the chronically ill wish family and close friends knew about them
^^ Link above. I was just explaining to someone this morning the whole concept of grieving with my illness. I'm 24 and I've lost my ability to drink alcohol, go to the gym, live independently, stay up late, and in a lot of ways, be young and spontaneous. I used to be a free spirit. I drank frequently, went out with friends, stayed up past 2am, worked out 6 days a week, and traveled as much as possible. Now I feel like my whole life needs to be planned around how I feel emotionally and physically, the side effects of my medications, and whether or not I will be awake enough to function. I'm usually drained by 4pm and even earlier if I've been outside... sounds like someone much older than 24.
My dream is to get my life back and be ME again. I just want to live on my own again, have an apartment, have a pet? I don't want to worry about paying for medications and getting taken care of by my parents. I can't help but compare myself to friends who are making major steps in their lives; getting apartments with loved ones, getting engaged/married, buying dogs, socializing, etc. When I'm better, I can make these dreams a reality. 8 months of treatment and I'm nowhere near the light at the end.
Thanks to some lovely medications, my mood swings are lifting and I'm a bit more driven than before. I'm sleeping better too, that's a major plus. Treatment will get intense starting Saturday so I'm trying to get my bedroom sorted. Hopefully I won't be on bed rest for too long but we'll see how strong these medications really are...

WHEN YOU MEET A NEWLY DIAGNOSED PERSON
three years ago i was trapped in an awful relationship with a toxic person who blamed me for her drug addition. i had to break up over the phone because every other time iâd tried to break up in person, she had coerced me into staying.
this wednesday my boyfriend drove 45 minutes out of his way just to give me coffee during my long work day like i didnât have time to do anything but hug him and thank him. when i was close to tears with gratitude, he shrugged and said, âof course.â
things get better. you will go from standing in the shower thinking âgod what if this is for the rest of my lifeâ to âgod, i hope this is for the rest of my life.â hold on, okay?
