okay but like.. i have this hc that frerin ( my version of him ) is like an avid scholar and seeks knowledge wherever he can. he’s got a very open mind and is rather fluid in his beliefs because he’s swayed quite often by all the new ideas and such. finding passion in others passion and whatnot.

he does have a sort of set of ground ideals that he can be firm on but bc he’s also swayed a lot it causes a lot of arguments ( or did ) between himself and the rest of his family.

it was something that was rather big w. thorin too bc well, they both- dis too- were being groomed to be the next in line to rule n shit, right? so thorin was like, ‘get ur head out of the clouds u fuck’. and frerin was just like, ‘god thorin ur so lame, let me do what i want.’

honestly thorin was just worried that one day frerin would seek knowledge in the wrong place and something would happen to him.

too bad that it was a war that killed him instead.
