James sucked in a breath once her hand rested upon him, his blurred conscious snapping back into reality. For a moment he looked furious. Quickly he straightened. Back under control. “No. No, this is...” He glanced down at himself and felt light-headed. “Manageable. It’s fine. Don’t concern yourself.” James stepped back from the woman’s grasp and attempted to walk away - only to get a few paces before falling gracelessly against the side of a dumpster.

Her features devoid emotions. However, internally she was scowling at him for even thinking he can sway her by offering to buy her a drink. Old trick in the book, she thought. Ignoring his extended hand, she opted for inclining her head politely before looking ahead at the bartender with a small smirk. “I will have the Bloody Mary love. Please, make it strong for I sense the rest of the evening to be… bothersome.” The bartender smiled in kind and began to work on creating the drink that the kind woman was asking for. Amelia glanced sideways and sighed. “What do you think you’re doing, James? In my book, you don’t simply ask a woman her name and a drink she would like to have. It’s rather overplayed. Sorry to disappoint you.”

“Overplayed it may seem. But a drink is something I would offer to anyone, not just a woman. As for what I’m doing - you asked what you could do for me, and I gave you exactly your answer. I think the true question here is, what do you think I’m doing?”
