what pop guy is doing a tour with this insane of a stage design and actually incorporating choreography into his set? like shameless dance numbers and cool graphic light shows and visuals. so fun to see a man actually put in some effort for a show like the pop divas have to (even though this is very tame in comparison to what the pop girlies do). just refreshing to see a dude continuously come out and put on a show that’s not just guitar in hand and very little motion or fever. weird to celebrate a man doing the minimum of what the girls do, but damn you’re not seeing many (if any) pop guys doing these things or risking the idea of them looking stupid by going all out and putting on a performance like harry styles does and is doing with his stage shows which is why he continues to be THE pop boy of our generation, man.

not to bring this back to 1D, but part of the charm of 1D’s live show was how big and interactive it felt. the stage was huge. the graphics were fun. the antics were endearing. and i think that, out of every one in that band, really ingrained into harry and how he wanted to continue performing as he embarked on a solo career. he wanted that same spark. that same glitz and overwhelming idea of being a show that sticks with each and every fan that comes out to experience it… that first impacted him with performing on those kinds of stages with 1D. even his first couple of tours where there weren’t a ton of production. the graphics and the outfits still somehow felt different and interesting. and how he moved around a stage was magnetic.

In all seriousness it's about reclaiming the performance of sex and sexuality for a (very queer coded) audience of his choosing. He's not worried about those American children whose hearts he'd break. He said I'll dance and they'll think it's for them but it'll be for me. It’s always disappointing to see so many queer people blatantly reject Harry’s signaling and be unwelcoming towards him as a member of the community, but it reminds me exactly why this fandom is so important.
