I FINISHED EVERYTHING
Well, almost everything. Some of them need to be blocked and prewashed, but the actual *knitting* part is comepletely done. And not a moment too soon. I’m giving several of them away at a friendsmas party tomorrow. I got totally slammed at work today and ended staying waaaaay later than I was supposed to. I can’t wait to show the pictures of all the finished pieces!

Final two
I’m down to my final two Christmas presents. I’m still waiting on materials being shipped to me for one of them (🤞 they actually get here in time), so I started the other one today.
It’s a completely reversible winter themed beanie with a funny twist. I found this pattern on ravelry too (aka the goldmine of weird and nerdy patterns). I can’t wait to finish this one bc some of my friends are going to be surprised that I looked at this pattern and said “yup. That’s an image I want to spend hours replicating.”
I used the crocheted provisional cast-on
DAMN IT
I tightened my gauge as I worked again. So the
Spectre emblem is bigger than the N7 emblem. I had the exact same thing happen with the baby blanket I finished earlier this year. Hopefully I can block it to where it’s less obvious. I can’t face unraveling and starting over on the N7 emblem.
UPDATE: I think I can fix it mostly. Looks like it was just the black at the end that was mostly too tight (I hope) so I unraveled that part and am redoing it looser.
Aaaaand I’m back to a ton of strings again
Back to my scarf and I’m on the home stretch! The stripes are done. Mine ended up being 80 rows between the articulations and charts. Now all that’s left is the N7 chart and I’ll be done! I’m finally down to one ball of yarn again...for now
Update: because posting a screenshot of this post also get’s flagged and it’s not worth it, I’ll mention it here. The new algorithm flagged this post as adult content. Only thing I can guess is that somehow the program thought my finger was a penis. 😔 I understand why a lot of people are upset. I just wasn’t expecting this change to affect my knitting blog

@chillywind got her present early bc she won’t be in town for Christmas this year 😭 but it does mean I can post the completed pics now!
I found this pattern on ravelry and with the movie coming out this spring I thought they’d be perfect for my badass sis. I always take my time to find a knitting pattern my friends will love, but there’s always this anxiety in the back of my head that they won’t like it. So far that hasn’t happened (or they lied to me. I prefer to believe the former). She loves them!
I used Knit Picks sock weight yarn I already had from a previous project. They’re knitted in the round on double points, and the symbols on the back are done with duplicate stitch.
It’s always driven me crazy that when I made gloves in the past that they weren’t mirror images of each other. BUT I had just taught myself to knit left-handed before starting this project. I decided to try knitting one glove right-handed and the other left-handed. It worked and I got gloves that mirrored each other!
Woot! I’m back!
Forgot to mention this, but I went on a cruise for a week and didn’t want to pay for internet access 😅 I also decided to finally give my hand a break and left my knitting *at home*. I got a massage that included attention to my poor swolllen hand. The swelling is almost gone...just in time for me to abuse it some more lol
I’m back to working on the scarf of badassery and I just realized my measurements at the beginning of this scarf were off. So I’m unraveling so much work and I’m fine. It’s fine. Everything’s fine.
I’m aaaaaaaaalmost back to where I was when I had to unravel everything and start over last time 😭
I have made a grave mistake...
Note to all knitters: DO NOT unravel stranded colorwork into a pile of yarn. Reroll it back onto the skeins as you go. It takes more time in the short term, but TRUST ME you do not want to be trying to unravel this mess...

The moment being a left-handed knitter becomes a little annoying
Color. Charts.
So I’m left-handed, but as a lefty who’s had to navigate the world of the righties I learned to cope by assigning certain tasks to my right hand. Knitting happened to end up being one of them. And then I knitted so much I irritated the radial nerve in my right hand. Now, a wise person would’ve put the knitting away and worked on a different hobby for a while. I do not claim to be a wise person. So I taught myself how to knit left handed. And here’s something I didn’t realize when I started: color charts are backwards if you’re knitting them left handed.
So that can be confusing when you’re working on a color chart that spans 3 pages that are supposed to line up together. Not the end of the world, just an unexpected snag
Done with this side! Ngl, this is the cleanest looking intarsia I’ve ever done. I’m seriously considering not backing this after all
Aaaaalmost done with this mess
Aaaaand done. Again. I unraveled the crown and added about 3 more rows (approx a half inch) then reknit the crown. It covers my earlobes now, so I’m much happier!
Got the measurements back from my friend, “if necessary” was necessary. I unraveled the crown and added a half inch before starting decreases again. Luckily it was a fairly simple fix

Aaaaand done! I think...it’s a bit short for my taste. I messaged my friend to get her head measurement bc I thiiiiink her head’s a little smaller than mine (I usually just check sizing on my own head). If necessary I’ll unravel the crown and add a few rows.
