Iâve been thinking lately about the kind of music some of my favs would listen to. So thatâs what this post is about. Keep in mind that I obviously might be biased here as I tend to be very picky with my music (tho I am trying to expand my music taste).
Characters involved: Megatron, Optimus, Jazz, Soundwave, Shockwave, Airachnid.

Megatron was difficult for me to pinpoint. Because I think the possibilities are endless with him, especially depending on what continuity youâre after.
He might be into Classical, I can certainly imagine him sitting on his throne and simply indulging in the opulent instrumentals and vocals.
But I also think heâd like something with more intensity, more emotion that he could relate to and stew in. So maybe even Heavy Metal/Rock.
And then I thought a little more, and also came to the conclusion that I think heâd be really into Blues.
He probs listened to a song or two and went down a rabbit hole of the genres history. Heâs captivated by their messages and how it came to be.
Sometimes the messages hit a little too close to home, but he always comes back to listen to more.
Give him the soundtrack to the movie Sinners and he will be blown away from the sheer diversity of songs/range.
I was originally thinking something similar with Optimus, that he might like Classical music or Blues.
Until I realised somethingâŚ
Optimus is a fucking prime. He doesnât have the time to sit down and really listen and understand the music on a deeper level.
Iâm sure heâd like to, but he just doesnât have the time, so he rarely gets exposed to all the different genres of music.
So Iâve decided that Optimus has possibly a very basic and somewhat bland taste in music.
Even though he acts like he minds his own business and doesnât pry into what the humans are listening to/watching. He canât help but overhear.
So whatever song is trending on Tik Tok or Instagram and it has fairly decent lyrics, he will like it.
Look up top 10 songs on Spotify and thereâs probably a song or two that heâll enjoy, even if everyone else thinks it cringe.
Unlike Optimus, Jazz is always listening to new music.
I think out of everyone here on the list he has the most diverse musical pallet.
Itâs honestly harder to pinpoint what genre of music he doesnât like.
Similar to Jazz in that heâs willing to give any genre or music a try.
But I also think heâd be a bit picky about his music.
But a genre he always finds himself indulging in the most is probably Electronic music.
His name is Soundwave, I wouldnât be surprised if he had some sort of sound system in his room where he can experiment with what little down time he has.
Bands he gets the most inspiration from Crystal Castles or Kavinski.
Shockwave doesnât âenjoyâ music, at least not in the way everyone else would.
Heâs most likely only listening to music that will help him focus when he working in the lab.
And the music that helps him focus the best is often slow and somber, maybe with a focus of instrumentals over vocals.
Or if there are vocals, theyâre understated and soft.
As long as the music doesnât give him a sensory overload, itâs good enough.
So Classical is always a good option.
If you were a poor unfortunate sod that got kidnapped and used as one of his experiments and you heard Lacrimosa echoing in the lab. Then you can kiss any chance of escaping goodbye.
I think heâd really like listening to Laufey, not for what she sings about. But simply for the quality of her voice.
Itâs soft and calming, even some of her more upbeat songs are never over the top.
I also think heâd like some Ethel Cain songs.
Heâd never be as invested in the story behind any of her albums, but if I had to pick a few songs, it would be:
Televangelism (Preachers Daughter), Amber Waves (Perverts), Waco, Texas (Willoughby Tucker, I Will Always Love You)
Also video game soundtracks, put on the soundtrack from Bloodborne, Dark Souls, or Hollow Knight/Silksong, his productivity will increase exponentially.
Ok, Airachnid was really hard for me, I was listening to a bunch of my favs to figure out her vibe.
I was initially thinking sheâd be into Marina and the Diamonds, specifically the Electra Heart album.
And while I think sheâd like them, I donât think sheâd consider it her fav.
Goth Rock on the other handâŚ
My mysterious spider queen is listening to Evanescence in her downtime, and sheâs very secretive about it.
She doesnât want anyone to know sheâs into human music, especially the âedgyâ kind.
I also think sheâd love Doomed by Bring Me the Horizon, specifically the cover by Maphra Music. (This is my very subtle way to telling you to go listen to it, itâs not something Iâm usually into but the VOCALS good lord.)

Feel free to offer your own suggestions for what genres you think your favs would be into. I donât have the most expansive music taste and Iâd love to just give something new a try.
