melanie, who hates him, only knows this information about jon through georgie. georgie, who has not had a sexual or romantic relationship with jon in years. she is, without his consent, sharing this information with a group of people who absolutely do not need to know this information about him.

idk. i've been outed before beyond my control and paid the price for it, and this scene and specifically the point it's trying to serve in the narrative makes me violently uncomfortable. i don't necessarily think this scene shouldn't exist; i just think that it's a very poor way to canonize jon's asexuality with no further input from jon later in the podcast, which is why i choose not to read it as such.

for the record, i don't think all coming out scenes in media need to be beautiful and poignant and digestible for the consumer to be acceptable. i just think that stripping away a character's autonomy when they are coming out/outed should not be treated as flippantly as it was, especially when it concerns information about the character that is potentially out of date.

no no it's fine. Personally, I'm strongly in the camp of Jon being gray ace, mostly because I want to put my ace experience into the world :) so when people get so adamant and mean about Jon being sex repulsed, I feel like I can't say anything because I'm pretty transparent to the fact that I'm projecting.
