for the first time in a long time i finally have had a day to myself where I don’t have anything to do and can just waste time as I see fit. I decided to play some games and though I spent the morning furthering my playthrough of Bravely Default, I finally settled on playing the Sims 4. I was kind of bored of the two saves I’d already created featuring the lives of my OCs, so I decided to start a new household. For the first time since I got the game the year it was released, instead of making noncommittal sociopaths with a pension for mischief or recreating character relationships between my ocs, I decided to actually make a wholesome family for once.

wow has that brought me so much joy. during my play time i kept finding myself watching the parents interact with their child and thinking “he’s a good dad” or “she’s still learning, but I know she’ll get it”. It’s brought me happiness not in the “okay let’s see what mayhem we can create” way, but rather in a softer, “holy shit this is so precious” kind of way.

I know it’s silly, but I feel like I’ve rediscovered why I fell in love with this game in the first place.
