one of my biggest gripes with the final seasons of supernatural (from Jack's entrance) is that the show has what seems like a real hate boner for dean; his relationship with Cas deteriorates because Cas shifts to considering jack the most important person in his life instead of dean, and his relationship with Sam suffers because sam's longtime desire for the boring apple-pie life he tried to foist on dean post-season-5 leads to him making dumb as hell decisions regarding jack. and then he fucking dies at the end, which comes across like the show saying that dean had no possible conceivable future
this wasn't what they Intended, of course. they were Trying to make a parallel between dean and John, that he's become the terrible father that once traumatised him. but lest we forget, John was never INTENDED to be a bad father originally and a lot of his worst shit was added on later, so the writers don't even really understand how to draw the parallels because they only started actively saying John sucked after the fandom made it clear they considered him to have sucked.
so they cast dean in the role of The Mean Parent, as opposed to The Cool Dads, but. "The Mean Parent" is a stereotype for *mothers*, not fathers, where the dad refuses to enforce any discipline and makes the mum be the bad cop. Cas going "it's okay jack, you can kill as many people as you want :) I still love you" and Sam going "gawrsh dean don't you think you're taking the literal murder of our mother a little badly" and dean asking them what the fuck is wrong with them both. is definitively Not dean being a bad father, and nor is it him being anything whatsoever the fuck like John.
and then dean gets more and more frustrated as he's constantly proven correct but Sam and cas continue to double down, which leads him to doing angrier and more unreasonable things but like. what is he Supposed to do here lmfao
and then fandom is like "got it - dean's a terrible father🫡"
my retirement plan is to be found dead by the river
This article is fucking crazy lmao

has anyone noticed that we live in hell and lowkey every time you take a look around things have just gotten worse. or is that just me
"no you can't control the computer because uh that would be user unfriendly" <- shit they expect us to believe
OH MY GOD I LOVE THEM!

it’s been said before and it’s not even close to the worst thing but it sucks how our current robber barons are such philistines. like these guys aren’t even building libraries or concert halls. they can’t even pretend to enjoy art, and they don’t see any value in signaling that they appreciate art
this current batch of the fithy-rich is BORING. They're BORING. Oh you have a yacht that's bigger than anybody else's yacht but functionally no different from one of your fancy houses? BORING. You have yet another fast car? YAWN. You ate a burger but like, a special burger? whatever. FUND AN OPERA ABOUT ANOTHER RICH GUY YOU HATE, DIPSHITS. How about you put a concert hall with your name on it in every city in the US and fund their operations for the next decade, if you're so rich????? unless you're too poor to afford that????? How many people do you, personally, directly employ, and what are their salaries? Do you pay well enough to command the loyalty and willing service of any masters of their craft? It would be so easy to win the absolute love and adoration of the masses in this climate but no, they wanna build bunkers and play politics in order to save a few more miserable nickles.

i bring a "technically i could do this tomorrow" energy to things that tomorrow me really resents
Underrated comedy aspects of Supernatural:
1. the number of cars Cas steals. we see him drive so many cars over the course of the show and he didn't pay for any of those. when will this man be punished for his terrifying reign of grand theft auto
2. the season 15 reveal that Michael made up Jesus in order to make his father look like less of an evil shithead. that's. Incredible. no notes. that's my man ladies and gentlemen. (I bet Jensen and Misha were getting fewer private masses at the Vatican after that one LMAO)
3. why did Asmodeus look and sound like Colonel Sanders. what was up with that actually
4. the bit in season 7 when Cas learned how to farm in order to make Sam and dean sandwiches. like this man learned how to harvest wheat, grind grain into flour, make bread, milk cows, churn milk into butter, slaughter a pig, and cure its meat into ham. to make dean a ham sandwich. and then he thinks he doesn't have any skills to get a job when he's trying to be human lmfao
5. the supernatural creature auction held by Plutus in season 8 accepts "dwarven gold" as payment, which implies the existence of Nidavellir (and therefore the other realms - considering the existence of Fenrir, this makes sense, since his mother comes from Jotunheim) but. they never investigate the bifrost or any other Norse realms (even though Sam now wields mjolnir). the only logical conclusion of this is them being absolutely Blindsided by some kind of Norse apocalypse, presumably Ragnarok, since Gabe fails to kill either Hel or the Jormungandr on his Kill Bill mission. and they'll have to face it with only half the usually-requisite number of Winchesters, too
6. the way that all the demons are genuinely convinced that any of them can be king of hell as long as they get Sam and dean's support. belphegor got so far that dean even gave him a nickname! he was so close! (he was Not close)
7. the fact that they figured out the timeline of Mary and John's life long after filming the first episode and will later linger constantly on shots of Mary's grave for more than long enough to do the maths in your head and be like. wait... 29?? and feel awkward about the fact that the actress is clearly closer to 40 (not that there's anything wrong with that, but it does imply that four years of being a mother apparently aged this woman like fucking milk)
8. speaking of Mary and John. John comes to from having been dead, in Mary's arms with Samuel's body beside them. and he doesn't find out about demons until after she dies. did Mary tell him that she killed her own father?? and it's not like she Didn't so they must have skipped town to avoid the murder investigation... like holy shit. John really spent their marriage thinking that he was an accessory to a crime that could put them both away for all their kids' childhoods. no wonder they used to fight lmfao (not to mention what Deanna and the rest of the Campbells must have thought, Jesus fucking Christ)
9. the "bad ending" that Chuck writes in the final season involves Sam and dean getting turned into vampires, and Sam dying (we specifically don't see dean die, but either way) but. they'll go to purgatory... Dean's favourite place. and probably kill everything and become the kings. since Amara and Michael, and possibly Billie, would survive, this would arguably be a BETTER ending for humanity than the one they get (Cas does lose, though)
10. season 6 is a feverish race between Raphael, Crowley and cas to be the first to find an entrance to purgatory... we find out in season 8 that there's one in a random corridor in hell right near where they end up storing bobby. so sorry, Crowley, but this one's Entirely on you, babe. look harder next time<3 (also there's one in Maine)
not every mutual fits neatly into an archetypal medievalism but there are some mutuals that im like yeah addressing you as “my liege” would come strangely naturally
what mutual is prev
my liege lord
my loyal knight
my wise wizard
my evil advisor
my brother in arms
my lady muse
my wild mermaid friend
my fellow alchemist
my dashing rapscallion
my monstrous foe
it really is crazy how there are so many influencers with millions of followers i have never heard of in my life
every day someone is like ‘have you heard about the situation with johnny youtube?’ and i go. pardon. who the hell is that
I happened to watch a YouTube version of a podcast where the host offhandedly mentioned supernatural recently which of course meant that the comments were full of people with supernatural opinions (this is just how it goes I think) but this gave me a surprising opportunity to see more of what normies think of the show, as opposed to the usual Tumblr crowd, and it was quite interesting in some ways.
a lot of men seem to have been saying that they liked Sam originally (this was over the host calling dean "the more interesting Winchester" lmfao) but that he became annoying in the end of the show, which is something friends who never finished the show had also said to me. this is particularly interesting to me because Sam and dean are pretty darn solid from 10/11 to the end, and at their absolute Worst from 8-9. meaning that a lot of normies tapped out during sam's most unbearably dickheaded period (most likely season 8), and never came back.
in fairness to them, he does more or less drive one of dean's closest ever friends to effectively commit suicide purely because of spite, so. I don't think they're Unjustified. Sam's behaviour in season 8 is so bad that they have Lucifer come back in season 11 and call him a piece of shit about it, but choose to focus on the Second worst thing Sam did (decided to just tell himself dean and cas were dead, run away and settle down and not look for them for an entire year), presumably because. having to seriously reckon with the fact that he drove Benny to give up on life would rightly Destroy Sam as a person, and that would make the show unnecessarily uncomfortable during a period where they're already only trying to show Sam facing consequences because they've finally realised that people were pissed about the season 8 of him all. so he's shielded from having to confront his worst sins because they're so bad that it would make the show too depressing, essentially
anyway. wild that most people think he stayed that bad lmfao. I guess that's the danger of giving a character flaws slightly too liberally. some people won't be able to bear it

Reblog to heal the heart of the person you reblogged this from.
it’s a great time to be a hater, many things are bad and lots of stuff sucks. it’s also a terrible time to be a hater, because many people will insist that you have to like the bad thing because a company spent millions of dollars making it and it’s just not very nice to say it’s bad
hating is ultimately a philosophy of optimism. the knowledge that things could be better, and the desire to see them improve, differentiates it from the pessimism of idle consumption.
