can you elaborate on the walk out method? i have heard of using reusable shopping bags and putting everything in there but if i walk out from the store with all of that and i'm not coming from behind the registers, wouldn't it looks sus? the stores i go to have checkers at the door. sorry if you already covered this but i'm curious. also what if you beep and have nothing to cover it with?
the walkout method is something that has saved my ass so many times. but the key here is to know your damn store. know the layout. know the policies. know how to get on the side with the checkouts without checking out.
if you have greeters, pretend to be on your phone. if you need to, call a friend. make it seem like you are in a rush and you do not want to be bothered. when you’re walking out of a store with bags of shit in a cart, you want to look as hassled as possible. this has worked wonders for me. act like you’re stressed af and its more likely you will be left alone and just waved out.
other tips: -if this still makes you nervous, add a prop. save your receipts from past transactions and pull them out of your purse before you walk out of the door. when you add in looking over a receipt to looking stressed af AND on the phone, literally no one will talk to you. -if you dont have a receipt, and someone stops you, keep up the act of being stressed and in a rush. “i could have sworn it was in my purse…(rummage around frantically) OH MY GOD DONT TELL ME I DROPPED IT…. i’m so late oh my gosh i can’t believe this is happening…” (if there is a bus station close by you can always say “my bus is about to leave without me i need to leave now”)
honestly just act like you’re a middle aged soccer mom who’s running late to pick her kid up from practice and still has to make dinner and clean the kitchen. chances are, you’ll get left alone.
