it’s the fact that they’re always humbled too. ‘mfat is just a children’s kovie’ becomes extremely profitable and confirms two sequels ‘big mood is just her friend’s project’ bafta nomination ‘just a line or two in goat’ and she’s one of the core group of voice actors ‘just a small scene in OMITB’ she’s the girl with the red curls so it’s at least something relatively substantial. i mean we know why they act like this but it time to just admit that projecting your envy on nicola isn’t going to work out well for you.
I honestly don't understand why some people keep doing it, especially when it almost always ends the same way. At this point I've learned not to make assumptions about Nicola's roles (okay... maybe one pirate project still has me holding out hope).
I'm so curious to learn more about the girl with the red curls, but for me it's also the fact that she got to work alongside Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez and the rest of that incredible cast. You just know Nicola had the best time.
That's what excites me most, watching her work with people she admires and seeing her keep challenging herself with every new project.
They don’t care that Nicola is working with a two-time Palme d’Or-winning screenwriter or has a prominent guest role on a critically acclaimed, Emmy-winning series or is leading a BAFTA-winning drama that Kate Winslet was the most recent lead on.
All they want is Nicola to play Penelope and outside of that, they want her in a fluffy Netflix rom-com opposite Luke so they can see their shipping fantasies played out onscreen.
Yikes... Nicola has been more than clear about where Bridgerton fits into her career now. She'll be back when Penelope is needed, but she's also made it clear she wants to keep exploring different kinds of stories and characters.
And honestly? I'm so so thrilled. Every new project seems so different from the last, and she's working with incredibly talented people on stories that actually have something to say. I genuinely can't wait to see all of it.
We really picked a good one to stan!
She's following her own path, and it's been so much fun watching her career evolve.
I’ve seen many Nicola fans hoping she’ll attend Wimbledon this year. However, I’m sorry to say that I highly doubt she will. One of Wimbledon’s main sponsors is Barclays, a financial institution that Nicola openly and strongly criticized on Instagram last year over its alleged ties to the Isr@eli government and the war in Palestine. Given her public stance, it seems unlikely that she would attend the event as long as Barclays remains a principal sponsor.
That's definitely a possibility.
I'm not expecting anything, I just hope she's happy and doing what feels right to her.
Per some comments in your posts… it’s definitely noticed how often some “fans” undermine Nicola’s projects. There is often a group of people who say things like “theatre isn’t that great” or “the national Theatre is just local” or “it’s just channel 4” or “she’s not the lead” or “she’s probably playing mother #2”. And then when these comments are called out for what they are the people play dumb. But they are so obvious, just admit you’re not a fan of Nicola and move on, you won’t be missed.
It really does seem to be a favorite pastime for some people. Sounds exhausting, honestly.
Nicola has been incredibly intentional with her career, and she keeps proving that she's choosing projects because she believes in them, not because she's trying to win some imaginary competition.
I honestly don't understand why people who clearly don't like or enjoy her work keep following every move she makes just to downplay it. If she isn't your cup of tea, that's completely fine. There are plenty of actors to follow.

Nicola nominated for Gold Derby is fun, not sure how meaningful but still nice to see a nod for her work.
It's definitely a nice recognition.
Gold Derby isn't just a random fan poll either, it's a long-running awards site followed by awards watchers, critics, editors and industry enthusiasts. The winners are decided by the site's users, editors and experts together.
Whether she wins or not, it's lovely to see her performance getting recognition.
Nicola Coughlan has been nominated for Best Supporting Drama Actress at the 2026 Gold Derby TV Awards for Bridgerton.
Congratulations, Nic! 💛
It's so lovely to see her work continue to be recognized.
Don't forget to vote! ✨
I think Nicola’s new movie wasn’t supposed to be announced as of now - someone just happened to catch Nicola filming and it leaked but information about the project hasn’t been updated not even on IMDb. I guess we’ll have to wait till she’s allowed to post about the project.
We don't really have an official announcement yet, we just happened to get lucky because someone nearby spotted Nicola filming.
I think we're still a little way off from the proper announcement. We have to be patient!
Being a Nicola fan is so exciting you never know what she’s doing, one day she’s in London filming a show and another day she’s in Scotland filming a new movie. It’s always good to support people that clearly love what they do and are passionate about their art. The movie sounds so interesting and on Nic’ alley I can’t wait for more information.
That's honestly one of my favorite things about being her fan.
You think you've got an idea of what she's up to, and then suddenly she's on a completely different set working on something nobody saw coming. I'm always in awe of how much she keeps surprising us.
Now I'm just impatiently waiting for the official announcement so we can finally learn more!
I've been loving Nicola's career choices. It feels very on brand for her to work on projects that tell stories that she can stand behind, and working towards critical acclaim with talented teams. She has previously alluded to the Hollywood scene not being something she's particularly drawn towards, but that's not the only avenue to gaining traction in the awards circuit and she's very well aware of that. Her working with those who already have a proven track record of winning awards - screenwriters who have won the Palme d'Or, directors who have won Baftas, Emmy and Oscar winning production houses - is not a coincidence and I'm just really happy that she's getting to hone her craft in a way that works for her. Also, I do hope we get to see her present her feature film at a film festival in future. Cannes would be great!
This is exactly how I feel. I love that her choices never feel predictable. She's clearly picking projects because they excite her creatively. As a fan, that's so much more fun to watch.
And yes... I would absolutely lose my mind if I saw Nicola walking the Cannes red carpet one day.
Whatever happens, I'm just excited to see where this next chapter takes her.

Do we think this could be the project Nicola was referring to in her magazine interview a few months back?? (I want to say it was with Elle, but I could be wrong 😬) I know there's been a lot of chat about the possible Grainne Mhaol pirate movie, but there's not really been any update on it for a while. I know this latest project has come out of the blue as well, but given the calibre of the people involved, maybe this was what Nicola was talking about?
(Side note: between this apparent lead role and what seems to be a very juicy part in OMITB, it's no wonder she's not involved in Bton S5 much, and frankly I'm glad. These projects will give her a chance to shine in a way all the background scenes in Bton never could.)
It definitely could be, and yes, it was the Elle interview! Personally, though, I don't think this is the project she was teasing back then.
As for Gráinne Mhaol, I'm refusing to give up hope just yet. It's still listed as being in pre-production, and until we get official casting news, I'm choosing to believe Nicola is still involved.
That said... I'm absolutely thrilled about this project too. If anything, it's another reminder that Nicola's career is in such an exciting place right now. I honestly can't wait to see everything she's been working on.
And regarding Bridgerton, I think we're at a point where we can all acknowledge that it's no longer the center of her career. She gave that show everything during her season, and now she's getting to explore completely different roles, filmmakers and genres. If she pops back in for a cameo or two, that's lovely. But seeing her lead projects like this and work with people of this calibre is exactly what I was hoping for after Season 3. I honestly couldn't be happier for her.
this is an amazing project that Nicola is attached to. The writer has won baftas and the palm d’or at Cannes multiple times. The palm d’or is arguably more prestigious than the Oscar’s since it awards artistic merit and not mainly mainstream movies. I love that she’s doing fun projects like OMITB as well as things with critically acclaimed filmmakers. The common theme is that she gravitates to interesting work with really solid people involved - Hollywood comedy legends in OMITB and legendary British award-winning filmmakers for this new project.
This is why following Nicola's career is so much fun!!
You genuinely don't know what's coming next. That willingness to keep pushing herself is something I really admire.
Some more information from a casting call. Looks to be right up Nicola's alley tbh. I'm really excited for this one. The projects where she's the lead always seem to focus on topics close to her heart, I've liked her choices so far. Hoping we get an official announcement soon.

I love that Nicola keeps surprising us with the kinds of stories she wants to tell. Nothing about her recent choices has felt predictable, and that's honestly one of the most exciting things about following her career.
Hopefully an official announcement isn't too far away!
Sorry, what exactly did Nicola post about a new job?
Literally nothing.
Nicola hasn’t posted about the new job yet - it hasn’t even been officially announced but someone just happened to spot Nicola filming - and more importantly her career has nothing to do with Luke’s except for the few days they may film together for Bridgerton S5…
Comparison is the thief of joy, anon. Enjoy Luke’s project and we’ll enjoy Nicola’s. The two are completely unrelated.
I know. I normally don't even bother posting these kinds of asks because they just go nowhere, but this one genuinely confused me.
Hopefully we can all get to a point where people can be excited for the projects they enjoy without turning everything into a comparison. Nicola and Luke are on different career paths, and that's completely okay. It's been long overdue that we let them be their own artists and just enjoy what each of them is doing.

This is so deserved. 🌈
Nicola has always backed up her words with actions, and that's what makes her such a meaningful ally.
Proud is an understatement.
So Luke is about to announce a huge film and Nicola had to post about a new job??? 😑
I know you're trolling, but... what??
