writing this post to apologize for my very inconsistent activity as of late; iâve had a lot going on in my personal life lately thatâs been preventing me from being on here as much as iâd like to be, and /basically/ take this post as a warning that my activity will probably continue to be spotty for the following week or so.
â Okay, that is a very negative mindset. I      can feel my entire self getting sadder âÂ
"Really? Because, I'd say self-deceit is much more negative.   Pretty unhealthy, too, according to the studies.â
âOkay, so Cassandraâs Dream may not have been the finest piece of work, it may not even be close â but I can name at least three of the actors or actresses in that film who have done projects since. Not everyone starts out with Oscar Winning pictures, some people have to have a few terrible films out there before their real chance comes by; and if I have to kiss a few frogs, so be it.âÂ
It was clear that she meant her words; that she dreaded even the thought of failing â of having to move back to her hometown, back in with her parents because she wasnât able to make anything of herself. She simply refused.
At this point, agreeing seems more sensible than arguing; sheâs made it clear she really means what sheâs saying, and heâs not about to beat a dead horse by repeating the less than favorable things heâs already said about Allen and the quality of his more recent artistic endeavors, especially now that Cassandra's Dreamâwhich he considers a monstrosity of a film, one not worth discussing furtherâhas been brought up.Â
"Wellââif youâre really planning on it, you should make sure they don't have chytrid or something first." Of course, this is his idea of some sort of friendly remark, made half in jest and half in lighthearted reassurance.
â Oh, come on. Why are you always so pessimistic      about everything. Itâs depressing. â
"It's only depressing  because reality is depressing."

While money canât buy happiness, it certainly lets you choose your own form of misery.

âYeah, well, itâs a free country- at least Iâm doing it discreetly, right?â He finishes up, the sound of the zipper ringing out. ââLeast I didnât piss on your shoes.â
"I think it might be illegal, actuallyââpublic urination, that is,â the zipping sound comes as a big relief to Darren, and he returns eye contact with a grimace. âBut, like you said, at least you didnât piss on my shoes.â
A Woman of Paris: A Drama of Fate, Charlie Chaplin, 1923
âAlright, not gonna lie, but you look like a man that knows his stuff.âÂ
⤠Yes, this was a random encounter within the wine aisle of a grocery store, but that wasnât the point. Tyrell was on a mission from god right now, it is do or die time.Â
âNow which one of these wines do you think would impress a chick so much that she thinks Iâm like super classy.âÂ
Granted he has no idea which wine is for what occasion, they all looked the same to him.
â âCause I know for a fact that there is a type of wine thatâs cheap, but still makes you look like a gentlemen in front of the ladies.âÂ
He still resembled that of a homeless man, since his attire is nothing but baggy fabrics upon fabrics; so playing the part of a gentlemen, within the clothing line, was out the window. That could be the reason heâs trying to make it up by buying wine. Though Tyrell just loves to be comfortable and right now doesnât change that fact.Â
âI was thinking of this one right hereâŚSome Pink Moscato or how aboutâŚPinot Noir?âÂ
The blond looks so out of it right now, with his whole outfit and absent knowledge on wine, Tyrell looked close to a babbling idiot. What an embarrassing first way to meet someone.Â
The sudden sound of an unfamiliar voice, speaking words seemingly aimed at him, was more than enough to catch Darrenâs attention, the unexpected always garnering immediate reactions from him. Still, heâs at loss for words for a minute or two, an internal battle of âshould I ignore this guy, keep to myself, keep browsing quietly?â vs. the oh-so tempting urge to respond. Had he known beforehand that the wine aisle of the grocery store, the one with a run-down exterior located in the quiet part of town, was now the kind of place where strangers were apt to approach and begin questioning you, asking how they could impress women with common wine labels, Darren probably would have stayed far away.
âSpottswoode makes an excellent Cabernet Sauvignon, but,â a quick look over the manâs attire confirms his suspicions, âI have a hunch you wonât be able to afford it, so . . . why not go with La Cremaâs Pinot Noir? Itâs sort of a go-to for a âclassyâ, affordable grocery store wine.â
â  because you know what she looks like, I bet.â   She enjoyed placing in the last word, but she knew   he wasnât fazed by it anyway. âDunno how you keep   sane all day. Weâve got a bet in the office for when you   finally lose your mind. I said give it a good three weeks.â
"Don't need toâseaweed green doesnât look good on anyone, especially not on someone whoâs approaching their fiftieth.â The office bet he was just now being made aware ofâ joke or notâmight have surprised him a few years ago, when he had just started his job, but at this point many uneventful work hours were spent making similar wagers with himself, perhaps standing testimony that his sanity, or at least his peace of mind, really was a thing of the past. âYou might want to tell them theyâre about three years too lateâI probably lost it when I agreed to write the goddamn column.â

âFuck? Fuck no man- what, canât a guy piss in an alley in piece? Shit. Fuck the fuck off.â
"I think most would say no,â heâs trying really hard not to stare as he speaks, eyes tilted towards the ground, âbut, Iâm guessing you donât really care.â

âGoogle wouldnât be able to tell you.â At that, she gives him a look that could only be described as dirty; the snide air in his tone, intentional or otherwise, reminded her of far too many grad students who tried to woo her with academic jargon she was sure they themselves didnât fully understand.
âI suggest checkinâ anyway, âcause it sounds like yâgot something stuck up thereâŚâ
The glare shot ( directly ) at him is completely lost on him, as well as her sudden change in demeanor. To him, nothing heâs said thus far has been out of line or at all inappropriate, perhaps blunt at the very most, and he doesnât catch her clearly demonstrated offense until sheâs actually stated it, by way of a retaliative quip directed at him.Â
âYeah, and Iâm sure youâd know all about that.â

âDonât you sometimes think your adviceâs are a bunch of ehâs?    I mean reading them and taking in the advice is one thing,   but you look like youâd rather be elsewhere staring at the   wall than writing with meaning. But hey, I enjoyed   reading this weeks column. Who wouldâve   thought you could write a convincing   response to a mum wanting to   change her hairstyle⌠really. â
A shrug is made in place of   verbal exchange; he could argue   with her, but why bother if he agreed   with just about everything being said?
âThe look she wanted to go for just didnât   seem . . . like it would work for her, you know?â   He is, of course, ignoring everything else being   said, tone dry, on the cusp of being bitter.
