A photo of Cáceres the town. On top of a lot of the churches (la part antigua) and old buildings the storks (Las CigĂĽeñas) have taken up residence. The church here was built in 1460. It is still well preserved and used even today.Â
Here I am in Caceres right after we performed a public water baptism in the river behind me. Then I start hearing these bells ringing and a whole herd…. flock of sheep come through with some goats. Here in Spain if someone is acting crazy they say… Ay, tu eres como una cabra! (You are acting like a goat.)
Here is a video clip of one of the baptisms! Witnessing this group of Christians praising the Lord in support of the baptisms wasn't much unlike John the Baptist declaring, 'I am a voice of one crying in the wilderness, 'Make straight the way of the Lord,'!Â
Iglesia EvangĂ©lica 'El Puente' a small Christian church in Caceres, Spain. There are about 1% of Spaniards who are Christian. This church is one of the VERY few of its kind in a very secularized Spain. We were here in June 2012 helping with the preparation for a basketball and english camp that the church organizes for the local youth.Â

Iglesia Evangélica 'El Puente' having an outdoor church service and celebrating baptisms in the campo (rural areas) along the river about 30 minutes outside Caceres, Spain. The church there is about 70 strong. It was so wonderful to see this public declaration of the gospel!

Edificio de Correo en Madrid. Postal building.
As we got ready to touch down in Spain before heading to Ligonde and Caceres I looked out the window and as far as I could see there was a row of wind turbines stretched across the Spanish plains.
Here is some video footage of the hostel we will be working at in Ligonde. It is true, this simple little building will be the vehicle for glorifying God. I am so thankful to take part in this service for the pilgrims. Reminds me, in a way, of the simpleness of the manger for Christ's birth. Â

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Jesus, Matthew 28:19
Here is some very real video footage of La Fuente del Peregrino. This will be where my wife and I look forward to meeting dozens if not hundreds of pilgrims taking El Camino de Santiago. Our purpose will be to live the command to 'love thy neighbor' and to share the gospel of Christ.Â
My jazz/gospel album 'All About Hymn' is set to be released this summer. I just got it mastered by Mike at TurtleTone Studio out of NYC. He is top notch and did an incredible job. www.turtletonestudio.com/Â
I thought that is would be awesome fun to have an artist competition for the album's cover. Highlights of some of the album's tracks are posted on my website www.edknoeckel.com. The album will be available for download from my website and from iTunes and CD Baby. An east coast tour is scheduled for Fall 2012.Â
All the submissions will be posted on my tumblr page and website. On the website everyone can vote for the cover they like the best. The image with the most votes wins!Â
It is up to you to come up with something cool and engaging and unique that is based around the following three themes.
1) piano
2) Christian Hymns
3) contemporary jazz
The winner gets there work on the cover, distributed around the world, an autographed copy from me in glass and framed, and a free copy of the CD for your listening enjoyment.  Submit the works, which can be in any style or medium, as a .jpeg through the 'Ask me a question.' link on the Tumblr page.
Good luck! Any questions, just ask me.
Voting will begin July 9th. Submit the images through the 'Ask me a question.' link on the Tumblr page.
So on a beautiful day the wife and I decide to go for a day trip to Norwich. Nice little town, good seafood. Couldn't help but check out a big tag sale that we were passing. I'm always on the lookout for anything that can enhance my understanding of Spanish culture. There is a old dusty book that says 'SPAIN'. I get it for $.50. I open it and find out that it is over 100 yrs. old (1886). The illustrations are just incredible. I love those classic ink drawings that are almost a chiaroscuro, detailed but obscure at the same time! My interest really lay in reading what this book says about Spain's history prior to Franco's rule. I just saw Wicked in NYC at am reminded of a quote from it, "Elphaba, we used to believe everything that wasnt true, we call it history."Â
This book weighs at least 5 lbs.! And in researching the book I found some interesting things. Edward Hale, the author, is the grandson of Nathan Hale of the 'I have but one life to live for my country.' fame. Putnam Pub.'s later were bought out by Penguin Press in 1991 and the founder's son George P. married Amelia Earhart. Putnam Pub. was also the first U.S. company to set up a branch in London, in 1841.
So, I'm going to peruse through the book and will have a review coming up soon. I thought that perhaps some of you out there enjoy finding out the interesting background story of old things like I do.Â
"Gideon Lewis-Kraus was confused. A few years ago, the American 20-something was living in Berlin, hanging out in art galleries and nameless speak-easies, preoccupied with living a creatively meaningful life, but unsure what that meant or how to make it happen. So when a friend asked him to come along on a pilgrimage — the ancient Camino de Santiago in Spain — Lewis-Kraus went, hoping to find some answers..."

On NPR they discussed this book about El Camino de Santiago in Spain, as a way for pilgrims to gain a sense of direction. This summer we'll be going to go work in a hostel on El Camino de Santiago. We hope to get a chance to talk to some of these thousand of pilgrims who are on a "search" to "Gain a Sense of Direction". We hope we can share with the pilgrims where we find our sense of purpose and direction. Ed and I believe Jesus Christ offers us many of the answers to the questions we have in life.
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
