Spark has been watching Jordan work for a few hours now. I'm fine" his reaction was... sluggish to say the least Spark sighs, preparing himself to physically drag the captain into a bed, but when he tugs on the younger man's collar jordan practically collapses into him "Okay," yawn "Maybe, maybe, I should sleep" He doesn't end up dragging him, so much as carrying him into a bed, but Jordan would never admit to that "Sleep, captain" "You know," he mumbles before spark leaves, "I think your ianite's told me the same thing"
Its traditional to seal a deal like this in blood. It only takes a drop, and that's usually all that the gods ask for, but the darkness didn't want to take it's chances
There was plenty of ichor in the potion, and if the captain wasn't already bleeding when he drank it, well, the darkness would make sure of it
Ichor burns mortals, it hurts nearly as much as a tumble through the void. It is particular hell few would put themselves through. Maybe that's why Dianite presented the goblet of his own blood to the man asking to be his champion. It was the god's final condition, to drink it

"Always" "Then join me," she holds out her hand, and something in him tells him somethings wrong but he's too caught in the moment to care "Of course," he takes her hand and his world dissolves into black

The first thing he noticed was the cold.
It seeped into his bones and curled harshly around his organs, burning every nerve in his body. It felt like the fire in his soul had been extinguished.
Next came the pain.
Between one moment and the next, his world became nothing but its searing touch. His thoughts were blinded by it; he could not remember anything but it. His nerves were being regrown in one second and burned in the next. It felt like his wings had been plucked clean, torn at the roots, and regrown in one second over and over again.
Then the void reared its head.
Its emptiness was more tangible than the pain. It felt like his heart had been torn out with the shards of his soul. The emptiness crawled like ants under his skin and he couldn’t tear them out. He called out and it drowned him.

The thing about gods is that they always ended up treating mortals like play things, like characters in a story. It wasn't there fault of course, how could you well and truly care about moral life when you hold more than enough power to create it, when entire generations could live and die in what felt like a blink.
These gods, as you call them, are better at it than most. But they're also much more mortal than a god usually is, so much more grounded. The gods of these universes have learned to care, to grieve for the souls they control. You should consider yourself lucky for that, that you're the mortal son of a mortal goddess and not of some more detached god
What is the power of a name? What had Jordan given her, by saying her name? Enough to keep going, enough to wake up Was it simply a product of saying it after so many years? Or was it because he was her champion, had always been her champion? How much power did they give them every time a prayer left their lips? What would be taken from a god if it's champion's voice was taken? What power was given to a champion when a god speaks their name?

The ocean was almost unnervingly calm, but all Capsize saw was an opportunity. She told her brother to hold the ship steady and dove into the blue void bellow her
It greated like a friend and basked in the pleasent cold that sunk into her bones. Swimming as far as her body let her. She broached the surface for air once, twice, before exhaling and letting the ocean drag her down. She sunk and sunk until the burn in her lungs numbed and all she could feel was the comforting craddle of the depths. She looked into the void and shivered pleasently under it's gaze.
When she finally popped back above the water, she was pleasently tired, and her lungs ached from how long she'd been down there (almost too long, always just almost. The void would claim her in its own domain, not this mirror of it). Her brother sent her a worried smile as he helped her up, but she couldn't be bothered to feel too bad about it. Her crew had long since called her an adrenaline junkie for it, for searching for that ache in her lungs and the comfort of the void, and they we'rent half wrong
Jordan was preparing himself for a long trek when Capzise spotted him "How are you this fine summer morning?," She asked him, eyeing his heavy clothing "Uhhh... Fine I guess. Its just another day honestly." They walked in silence for a moment before Capzise stopped him, "when was the last time you took a day off?" He paused for a moment, "does it matter?" She raised an eyebrow at him, "you need to take a break." "I'll take a break when there's nothing left to do" She stared at him like he was an idiot (she was definitely thinking it), before snatching his sunglasses in one swift motion. "Hey-" "You. Are. Taking a Break." He reached out for them, but she kept them out of reach. "Come on, give them back," "Nope," she popped them onto her head and smiled, "you're gonna have to take them from me mate." She added before running off "Oh come on!" He shouted after her, "are you seven?" and chased after her
The stopped when he cornered her against a cliffs edge, both out of breath and bubbling with laughter. "Okay, that felt good," Jordan admitted, hands on his knees, "will you give them back?" Capzise’s smile went a little sharper, "You still haven't caught me, sparklez" "Where are you—" She gave him a mock salute, "see you on the bottom, Captain." And stepped off the edge
At least when you drowned you had something to choke on. At least you weren't left with the memory of your lungs forgetting how to breathe around the emptiness. He was pretty sure he was the worst off of the group for that. He didn't think any of them remembered it well enough to have it so vividly haunt their every morning

Spark’s been at sea for too long, he hasn't seen anyone, touched anyone in too long. Ianite gives into the urge and materializes on his ship. Spark's a lot drunker than he seems, maybe that why he agrees when she asks if she could hug him. They haven't so much as touched since he'd gotten here, but Spark melts into her anyway. With the scent of the sea surrounding her Ianite almost forgets he's not her champion.
They're aren't any tears shed, not this time at least
