âI donât think the Institute can be worse than Gunners.â Vira spat on the ground. ââMercenariesâ donât act like those fuckers do. Whoâs paying them to raid farms?â
When does it stop? 'Cause I'm living cold and shut off Even when I clench my fists, It's slipping through my fingertips

What color do you prefer to wear? Black? Sea Green? Or perhaps Sulfur Yellow?
âBlack. In the desert I come from, it helps to dress loosely and in black. Here, I keep to my habits â and to the shadows.â
ïŒŹïŒĄïŒąïŒčïŒČïŒ©ïŒźïŒŽïŒš â the sentence meme
Below you will find quotes taken directly or paraphrased from the movie 'Labyrinth'. You know, the one starring David Bowie's bulge. Send in one of the following to see how my muse reacts:
â I ask for so little. â
â Just let me rule you, and you can have everything that you want. â
â Just fear me, love me - do as I say and I will be your slave.â
â You remind me of the babe. â
â Thatâs not fair! â
â Give me the child. â
â You say that so often, I wonder what your basis for comparison is? â
â I have been generous up âtil now; I can be cruel. â
â You cowered before me, I was frightening. â
â I have reordered time; I have turned this world upside down, and I have done it all for you! â
â I am exhausted from living up to your expectations. â
â Isnât that generous? â
â Your mother is a fragginâ aardvark! â
â Everything Iâve done, Iâve done for you. â
â I move the stars for no one. â
â Your eyes can be so cruel. â
â If she ever kisses you, Iâll turn you into a prince. â
â If he ever kisses you, Iâll turn you into a princess. â
â Youâre him, arenât you? â
â Youâre her, arenât you? â
â My will is as strong as yours, and my kingdom as great. â
â You have no power over me. â
â How you turn my world, you precious thing. â
â Well then, come on, which way? â
â Which way do you want to go, hm? â
â Was that wrong? â
â Iâve brought you a gift. â
â But if you turn it this way and look into it, it will show you your dreams. â
â In nine hours and twenty-three minutesâŠyouâll be mine. â
â Where you goinâ with a head like that? â
â No, I said âalloâ, but thatâs close enough. â
â Itâs only forever, not long at all. â
â All right then, throw down your weapons, and Iâll see that youâre well-treated. â
â Donât tell me truth hurts, because it hurts like hell. â
â No one can blame you for walking away. â
â I donât know why, but every now and again in my life - for no reason at all - I need you. â
â The way forward is sometimes the way back. â
â Itâs very rude to stare! â
â What did you have to go and do a thing like that for? â
â Whatâd you expect fairies to do? â
â Whatâs the matter, my dear, donât like your toys? â
â Thereâs such a sad love, deep in your eyes. â
â Iâll place the sky within your eyes. â
â What kind of magic spell to use? â
â Iâll paint you mornings of gold. â
â Iâll spin you Valentine evenings. â
â Iâll be there for you as the world falls down. â
â Weâre choosing the path between the stars. â
â Iâll leave my love between the stars. â
â How you turned my world, you precious thing. â
â You starve and near exhaust me. â
â I do believe in you. â
â I live without the sunlight. â
â I love without your heartbeat. â
â I canât live within you. â

Not-So Helpful || Nox and Quorra
inkedcorruption
Poor program. She didnât deserve this, but Nox wasnât immune to the same desires that so controlled his master; he was just better at controlling them. Now, though, the control was slipping.
âSĐœĐœ. DÏĐż'Ń ââ He was hissing, a mess of infection, the cracks in his façade showing through.âIŃ ŃÏĐż'Ń ĐœÏ ŃŃ ÒÏŃ ÊÏпɹ.â He reached for her, his gloves peeling back to reveal the cracks in his skin that glowed with infection, the constant pain of a virus with self-control.
There was the solid thump of someone landing, and Nox was yanked backward physically, a hooded figure matching his snarls. The new oneâs face was covered in a helmet, like many programs, and its circuits were hidden under a long cloak, although infection trailed behind it, wherever its boots hit the ground. The two circled each other for a moment, but the newcomer stopped walking when it was in front of Quorra.
âÆŹÏÏ cĐœ ĐœŃŃ Î±Î·â âÎčŃ,â it snarled at the infected guard, who jolted back like heâd been hit.
âVÎčrα?â
She knew that voice. Knew it all too wellâa fact that would put any of her friends in a stall if they found out. It was the ISOâs most unlikely secret, << her suicide, >> they would sayâand yet, who was it saving her now?
   âVir-Rr-aâŠ?â
The familiar name barely escaped her vocal processor before cancelling. The street-tile was cold beneath her cheek, skin hot from the fluctuating energy; she hissed in pain, gripping her palm to stop the voxels from spilling.Â
   âViraâ oh my Us-s-s-erââ
Tears rolled sideways down her face; she strained to keep her eyes open to see the back of the masked program.  âHe-heâ he was trying toâ 01101000⊠pleaseâ helpâ1101â Iâmâ notâ heâ trying toâ helpâhelpâhelpââ The glitch in her words then replaced with a long, chilling tone of static, and the ISO fell mute.
Vira shivered, the pitiful voice from the ISO neatly circumvented the list of processes. Nox was already backing away, not that Vira noticed as she turned to the woman on the ground. Her usually unflappable demeanor was cracking as her helmet retracted - quite literally, her skin cracking open and lines of light appearing.
âNox.â She was angry, beyond angry, but her tone was nothing but command.
âMaster.â Nox knew when he was in trouble; heâd never seen Vira defend one who wasnât of their pack. âHow can I help?â She wouldnât want apologies until later. for now, Vira would want help.
âHow do I fix this?â The words came out in a jagged hiss. âIf she derezzes, it is on your head.â
âUnderstood.â Nox stepped forward, and Vira snarled involuntarily. The two eyed one another for a moment before she nodded slowly and he approached. He picked up the ISOâs disc, weighing it in his hand a moment. As a guard, he wouldâve been authorized to inject energy into the program. As a virus, he could do the same, but with more .... disastrous consequences.
âTalk, Nox.â
âYou - donât want her a virus, do you?â
âNo.â
âI can only do so much, then.â He gestured to her. âShe needs energy. We cannot give it.â He snapped the disc onto the womanâs back, ignoring the surge of {hunger.want.need} that surged through him. He was strong enough. âSheâll be online in microcycles.â A moment passed. âIâm sorry, master.â
âDonât be.â Vira looked more shaken that Nox had ever seen her. Maybe, only a few times, her father had scared her into a similar state, but this was something new; her eyes were muted despite the crackling action of her circuits. âJust fix it.â
If this was the last thing i saw before she killed my ass Id be fine

âPurpose?â The bitter laugh that escaped her was unsettling. âTo let me taste freedom and entrap me again? To let me escape from Rhys,â Her voice shook on the name, the same one tattooâd across her neck, the one no amount of ink would hide from her eyes, but she soldiered on, âonly to place me back in the hands of another man who thinks that he can own me?â She bared her teeth in a snarl. ââSafetyâ et âcivilizationâ mean nothing to me. My tribe was safe before you tore us apart. More than safe, we were happy.â She glanced up at him from under her lashes -  a look that always came before she tried for one of his soft spots, physically or otherwise. âAll my children, Alexus, the ones you loved. Think on them. Where are they? Do you think they are safe, here, in the Legion?â She shook her head. âI was a child of the Legion. The girls, they will never be safe. Not until they are dead.â
He cast a look her way â One which may have been interpreted as scathing, but in his mind he only questioned how such a viper of spirit would be nested in the body of a woman of all things. He both hoped and feared their son would take that from her.
"Not everything is about how you feel, dulcissima. Even were you a man, it would still not be about only you.â The decanus forced himself to face her, stomach turning as much as body as he did. âThey will serve their purpose as we do ours,â he insisted, hating that edge of pleading in his own tone. âAnd one day maybe things will be different, but they are as they are now and you waste your energy fighting it.â A gentle hand raised almost to her arm in a forced motion of tenderness. He recoiled before drawing too close.
âYou should concern yourself with better things.â
Not until they were dead, remained in her head while he spoke. If she was a good chieftainess, she would take a machete and end each child in their beds, cut the last child of her tribe from her belly, and let Alexus explain his abject failure as her dominus. âNot everything is about your world, caenum.â Her voice was a low, hollow rattle. She missed her knives the way one might miss a limb, missed the . âListen to yourself.â
Empathy did not come naturally to Vira. The idea of appealing to what Alexus could understand was foreign, and yet -- perhaps some part of her had learned from her father these past few years. The frumentarii had lost  good soldier when Antos left; even if she was half as talented, she might yet convince this man. She ignored the knowledge that Antosâs tongue hadnât saved him, in the end.
âThe world stays the same until we change it.â âWeâ was a world her father had taught her; she hated the feel of it. And - yes, Alexus loved children, didnât he? More than she did, certainly. âThink of what you want for your son. To fight the same battles you fight? To die in this desert the same way my family has? The way your family has?â She chased his hand, gripping it tightly. Touch will make people like you, Antosâs voice echoed in her mind. âYou know the Legion is not the way. You must.â Her gaze probed his  . âYou knew my father; you knew Nox. Surely they discussed this?â
One final appeal, the riskiest. She didnât know what Antos or Nox had told Alexus, but she hoped the memory would let him remember the time heâd spent with her tribe - away  from the Legion. If not .... perhaps heâd remember the look in Noxâs eyes when they had crucified him, the way Ada had kept the children away, the way Nox had suffered on the cross for days before someone had managed to slit his throat in the night. The way none of them had heard from Antos in months, and could only assume the worst. Alexus had considered them friends. Perhaps that would give Vira the opening she was waiting for.
"You know, when I started out, killing was only a necessity." The virus chuckled. "That's what I call development."
   ââDevelopment.â Right.â
Quorra shot her a look. Seriously? She was really pairing murder with humor to an ISO. Quorra had half the mind to up and leave right then. But the Virus persisted in throwing out more puzzling statements, and so a hand to her symbol was her only sign of insult, while she kicked a loose Gridrock by her boot.
âYouâve never told me about your resolution." Honestly she didnât know if she was prepared for that horror story. "I assumeâit would be. âHell.â For a⊠someone like you.â She nearly cringed at a possible lash. âBut werenât you⊠coded that way?â
Vira glanced up from under her lashes, a pleased smile creeping to the corners of her mouth. She had an audience now, that was enough to keep her entertained. For now.
âI wasnât rezzed in," she said dramatically. "I was â deleted. And rerezzed.â She say down on the ground, her legs stretched out in front of her. She leaned back on her hands and cocked her head to the side. "Remember my mother?â
Quorra let that question sink in while she took a seat across from Vira, legs crossed, boot-tips nearly touching hersâit was a bit too close to the Virus, but when had she had any real sense of personal space?
âSure, I knew her. Before the Purge.â
It was only a matter of time before Quorra would find out. Too many pieces had clicked togetherâQuorra of course had never spoken of her âfriendshipâ with the Virus to Ada. For Adaâs sake, hopefully sheâd never find out. Not that it mattered much anymore. It was all so long ago now⊠she almost wished she could lose track of the cycles, but her system had the War soldered into its circuits.
The virus let out a pleased little purr. âWho didnât know my mother before the Purge? Or after? Sheâs the frank opposite of subtle.â She tipped her head back, her hair nearly brushing the ground, eyes searching the dark sky above. âDo you remember that decicycle where she stayed out of the public eye? She had those oh-so-troubling appearance glitches, the terrifying personality fluctuations? Well, mother dearest had to visit the back-alley doctors. Good thing Cracked knew someone who could help her -â Vira sobered a little, sitting up so her yellow eyes met Quorraâs. â- someone who cut the poison right out and deleted it, as though it was nothing. Mother dearest got patched to her latest backup. And that shouldâve been the end.â
âI woke up in the deletion bin. Across the sea ââ She gestured toward the distant shore. â- our Liberatorâs gift to your kind between me and anyone else. Of course, poison canât really kill poison, not quite. I swam here.â Her circuits flared and she bared her teeth in a smile. âI almost derezzed in the Sea, almost got killed by guards, then my memory caught up to me when I made it â home -â She grimaced, clearly holding something back. â- and again when I found Cracked. And now Iâm here to be a blight on this Grid until mother dearest derezzes me â or I derezz her.â She scoffed. âNot that Cracked will let me simply derezz her. Heâs so fragging soft on his pet admin.â

put an đ in my inbox, and iâll tell you what i think of our muses as a ship!
I love these two tbqh. The house could burn down while they argued and they wouldnât notice, not just because they both have PER scores that warrant glasses, but because they get too wrapped up in shouting at one another.
They are basically a hateship. Not in the sexual way. To contrast with Vira and Ursula, Vira is in hate-love with Ursula, and Vira is just passionately in hate with Alex. But at the same time, thatâs a balance Vira seeks out in life; she needs someone or something to hate passionately. Itâs usually the Legion, but immediate things to rail against are even better.
In a more traditional sense, theyâre the worst ship ever. Even in the few forced marriage AUs that float about occasionally - or that terrifying Love Potion one - they clash on far too many fronts, because Alex is a good person allied to the worst faction, and while Vira is technically acting more morally in alignment, sheâs a worse person than he will ever become. The contrast is fascinating but will, someday, end in someoneâs death.
Ranking, 10/10, would fall in hate with again.

âIt donât work that way. Half the fuckinâ caps now and half when I get the damn thing. Iâm not tracking my ass across Boston for free.âÂ
âPayment up front for overpaid escort work? Listen, stultus, if I could walk into a Gunner nest alone I wouldnât fucking pay you.â Vira huffed in irritation. âThe negotiations need a little more power on my side. You donât even have to shoot! Just stand there and look tough, and you will get paid if it goes well. I donât want to have to hunt you down and take my caps back if it doesnât.â
â⊠you call this a scope? I might as well hollow out a damn tin can and attach it to my rifle!â
