Infinity Of 6

The latest compilation from Camembert Électrique was released this week, entitled LOW PRESSURE SYSTEMS. It features my track Nae Pressure (But I've Left It Oot On The Table For Ye), plus 130 other pieces from around da globe. Nice to see quite a few familiar faces from other comps I've been on :) From the label:

Camembert Électrique releases LOW PRESSURE SYSTEMS, a new compilation exploring slow, dense and immersive sound worlds. Following MONOLITHIC BLOCKS, this release continues a focus on bass-driven music, repetition and internal sonic pressure. Across the compilation, tracks unfold in different directions, from deep, slowly evolving textures to more rhythmic or luminous passages, while keeping a strong sense of immersion and physical presence. A collection of pieces where sound becomes space, and listening becomes drift.

I blended a few ambiences from some pressing moments in my recent life, and took the opportunity to try out a new keyboard I got. Then I recorded some accordion, quoting Toots & The Maytals’ Pressure Drop, to tie it all together.

I have a new track featured on Polish label Militant Liturgy’s “Join The Warfare!” compilation.

It’s a compilation of Christian noise and experimental musicians. My track Many Are Called But Few Are Chosen is an ambient banjo gospel tune inspired by somethin Søren Kierkegaard said, and Matthew chapter 22. The banjo ever-present in this piece represents God, and am playin ma granny’s keyboard she got in the 90s. The telephone rings and rings.

LOUDsilence celebrate their two year anniversary wi a new compilation, TWO YEARS, oot noo! Artists were invited to submit a new or old track, 2 minutes or less. I made this piece Midnight On The Sausagefields Of Lorne inspired by ma annual midnight walk across the sausagefields at xmastime, where I reflected on ma ain last twae years.

GoH-993: Infinity Of 6 - Heart Replenishment A surprising appearance of the Infinity Of 6 after a few years brings a spontaneously recorded, almost ritual discordant work of bass guitar drones, processed synth improvisations and a variety of noises carried by slow, industrial rhythmics. Dark, yet playful in a hometaping way, organic in sound, unbound by any genre limitations and indeed, creating an impression of some weird ceremony taking place just nearby the listener. A joyful, unique and mysterious album - get it!

The DQN DIGITAL compilations have all been uploaded to yoochoob, here's Trivial∵Intentions!∴ Get∵A∴Feeling∵So∴Complicated from DQN DIGITAL VOL. 2: DEQUARANTINED! I recorded this back in 1993 with my bare hands. It feels like you're being processed in some kind of factory or something. I like how it keeps changing gear, sometimes you're slowly getting grinded and then next you're flipped onto another conveyor belt. I really like the sounds right at the very end!!

The DQN DIGITAL compilations have all been uploaded to yoochoob, here's SAITAMA TRAGEDY from DQN DIGITAL VOL. 1! I recorded this back in 1993, using Music 2000 on the PlayStation. I'm not sure but I think the sounds were all glitchy because I was playing it on a PS3?

I’m on this new anniversary tribute to Cruel Resolve, the 2008 chiptune album by FTFX! I was invited by ma pal HG to pick a tune to remix, so I picked Strife. This is my Holy Mission Remix.

It was quite fun tryin somethin a bit different, but this was the longest av ever spent on a track. It evolved a lot while I was makin it. I put all the stems in and sculpted them a bit, and at first I wanted it tae feel like an arduous, strifeful journey. I wanted a dense, poundin dance beat that shifts through rhythms and time signatures, drawin on techno, speedcore, jungle, bossa nova and Scottish ceilidh music. I also wanted tae use a mix o synthetic and live instruments, blurrin the lines between them. In particular I wanted tae use ma granny’s auld Yamaha PSR-410 keyboard on it; she got it when I was a wee boy, and it was passed ontae me when she died. I didnae want it tae soond like clean electronic music, but mair like a strange beast fae deep in the woods where I grew up.

The basic structure comes fae the original song’s programmed MIDI stems. In the first half of the song I added MIDI glockenspiel and bass, but later in the song these are replaced by live glockenspiel (through a guitar effects pedal), and live bass guitar. There are 4 MIDI drumkits havin some polyrhythmic fun, but the electronic snare backbeat runnin through the song was recorded in one take wi 1 finger on ma granny’s keyboard. That was fun! I ended up choppin the song in half and making it tighter and more focused, the other half’ll appear as something else on ma next album (－ｏ⌒) Then I tied it all together wi some symbolic samples - is this maybe the first piece of music in human history tae feature Jolly Boy John, the Spice Girls, the Final Fantasy X crew, and Masters Of The Ceremony?
