I’m often told by those around me (i.e. those who can tolerate me long enough) that not everything that glitters is gold (or something like that)...usually this is mentioned just before I’m about to dive headfirst into a project or to prevent me from buying an extortionately expensive item. Whilst this may be an everyday saying it sometimes we can be drawn to objects not just solely for how they look but what they symbolise or what inspiration they give. A friend asks me to be their bridesmaid and mentions that the dress will be gold (aside from the facial expression of bitch what the fuck!) my head starts spinning with tones and shades of gold that I can think of and ultimately I think of the worse possible goldiest gold there is! Compared to someone asking me what colours do I think gold decor will go with in spring/summer or winter/autumn (my head once again starts spinning...this happens often..again it’s a thing!) Deep colours like aubergine, eggshell or deep space blue to bring warmth or pastel pinks, muave etc. It’s funny how gold can spark negative and inspirational images in our heads (if you are anything like me you would overthink this too!). Gold although just a colour to some can be transformed into so many things and manipulated to give so many finishes brassy gold, electric gold, rose gold, polished gold and metallic gold....(I could go on....trust me I could) (***ok we get it gold is inspiring!!!!***) Point being that from a simple saying, whilst it might be from a moral high ground, to some may be just the thing that might inspires their next interior decor (or in the case of that friend....**clears throat**........that bridesmaid dress).
