âI can only wonder why,â Alpha replied, looking into her red eyes with an amused look, taking note of their unique coloration and almost forgetting his own eyes were red too. âDoes that mean she finds the color of my eyes nice?â he suddenly wondered, but quickly shook the thought off. What did it matter if she did?
He watched her pull her hand away and shrugged himself. âWell, whatâs done is done. And I donât really mind not seeing the parade, Beta, seriously.â He snickered at the look on her face, like she was doing her best not to scold him for his suggestions and on the brink of failing.
âYou is who Iâm calling killjoy,â he returned with a smirk. âBut fine, fine, Iâll do my best to keep out of jail, for Piettaâs sake. Or rather, Delloâs. I think heâd have a panic attack if that happened. I donât wanna think about what Pietta would do.â It seemed for a moment that her blank mask wavered, but he figured he mustâve imagined it when it remained the same, even as she pulled him up onto her shoulders.
He gripped her shoulders tightly, looking all the world like a cat stuck up in a tree, looking warily about as he tried to process the fact that Beta had scooped him up onto her shoulders like a sack of potatoes. He clamped his mouth shut after his rather undignified yelp, looking down at her with wide eyes. He felt a little more secure with her holding onto his legs at least, but he still felt rather alarmed.
Heâd given her this idea, hadnât he. Honestly, heâd only done it for her, not so sheâd get it into her head to pick him up in return! The parade was not worth this, really.
âYes, yes Iâm sure,â he replied tensely, still clinging to her. âLook Beta, I really am fine with not-wait what are you-no sTOP!â As her grip loosened, he could feel himself slipping back, and he renewed his efforts to cling to her, glaring down at her sharply.
âWhat do you think youâre doing?! I said put me down, not drop me!â he yelled, more than likely pulling the attention of some of the other parade-goersâ even with all the noise, not that he particularly cared in that moment. âHonestly, donât you-!â He started up as the float passing by shot off a conffetti canon, causing his eyes to snap to the parade. He blinked in surprise at the flashes of color and movement as the parade went on, tipping his head to one side in momentary curiosity. âHuhâŚ?â
âHehe~â Betaâs short laughter was her only response. Red had always appealed to the blondette for a number of reasons. She had always admired its vibrancy, striking in detail against any other color it mingled with. Even more so, she loved how the color seemed to symbolize such a range of emotions within others, from anger to passion. Unaware of however possibly narcissistic the thought was, she was fascinated by the shade of her own eyes. Alphaâs held the exact same shock of red... Did he ever feel the same as she did about his eyes? Did he think his eyes were pretty too? For a moment, she almost wanted to ask. Thinking about it later, she wondered why she didnât.
She shook her head, finally allowing herself to crack a smile at his ridiculous comments. Alpha seemed to have so much fun by messing around with his family. âWhatever you say. But I wonât be the killjoy when they make a scene at the police station.â Though she sounded serious, she was rather amused by the idea of Pietta writing up the police on her hit-list. She knew her fathers would probably do the same thing if it were her, although with more or less screaming involved, she was not quite sure. â...She would really let them have it, wouldnât she?â
As Alpha clambered over her once more, her arms carefully adjusted to holding him back up again. Seriously, why was this such a big deal to him? Letting him see the parade like this was the least she could do after heâd done the same for her. She looked up at him blankly once more like it was perfectly obvious why she would do this.Â
âOkay. I just thought you wanted to see, but I guess you really donât. Iâll put you down.â But she wouldnât get the chance... As quickly as Alphaâs protests had drawn the attention of the parade crowd, they died as his eyes lit upon the floats on the street. Her own eyes were trained solely on his reaction. It was always cute how he seemed to tilt his head to the side when he was confused, just as she did. Again she found herself smiling without a care in the world. Maybe now Alpha could finally start to have some fun here...
âItâs pretty, isnât it...~?â
