TO ALL THE BOYS I’VE LOVED BEFORE (2018)

it wasn’t intentional, per se. when lara jean put up fliers on the lookout for a new roommate, she never in her life time thought this would happen…

it started with the messages during her time of the month and she was sore. he offered to relieve some pain and who was she to say no?

then it was the cuddling. on the occasion when they were both home at a decent hour of the night they would settle down with popcorn and a romcom (peter admitted to liking them). the cuddling was an accident. they watched the notebook - a mistake - and peter opened with arms to her. lara jean hardly hesitated before crawling into them and weeping softly into his shirt.

next was the hair petting. during an honest game of 21 questions lara jean asked, “something you love but would never admit to loving” peter was quick to reply “getting my hair played with” he claimed it was calming and relaxing so now every time he’s anxious or stressed out, lara jean always plays with his hair.

the last huge thing was night visits. when it was peters turn to chose a movie, he obsessed over horror films and somehow convinced lara jean to watch one with him. maybe it was part of some kind of plan, and maybe not. but she woke up in a panic and sweating mess from the scariest dream she’d ever had. after that though, she didn’t even try to fall back asleep on her own. peter was in the room right next to hers and she figured he wouldn’t mind. she carefully climbed under his covers and snuggled next to him but not too much. she gasped when his strong arms wrapped around he and pulled her close. she tucked her head under his chin and slept like a baby.

at this point, all of these things are routine. lara jean let her feelings for him slip out of her mouth during an argument once and that was that. his mouth was hard but gentle against hers.

it was a surprise to nobody but them. she’d found out later that week that people all along had just assumed they were together already.
