Maybe petty but I can't really tolerate a lot of man-hating on this site specifically because I know it's fake as fuck...... I know for a fact that some of you have boyfriends, talk to your dads regularly, have brothers and male friends and coworkers, do DnD with men... but you can't stand transmascs and men of colour for long enough to have a conversation about your places in their oppression? Ok

headcanon / springboard / playing with dolls / sandbox style fan activity is just a different type of thing to analytical / interpretive / close reading style fan activity. they certainly aren't mutually exclusive, I'd wager that most people who do a lot of the former are also incorporating a fair bit of the latter and that most people who primarily do the latter are spurred by passion they get doing the former, but you're kind of not getting it if you criticize one for not being the other. it's like going up to someone's sandcastle and saying "this is shit, this structure is completely nonfunctional as a fortified residence" or flipping through someone's doctoral dissertation to say "so did you forget the cut-out paper dress up dolls or...?"

yesterday i had a nice southern teenager call me "ma'am" and then look at me and go, in a well-meaning tone, "uhhhh, if you go by ma'am. sorry if not." and i had to be like yeah man ma'am is fine. appreciate you being inclusive though. i could almost see the little warning pop up in his UI-- hold up! people with blue hair often have pronouns. are you sure you want to address this individual with a gendered term?

It was absolutely in my bingo card that the people who yell at trans men that they have so much privilege would throw a shit fit when you pointed out their white privilege

For the record if you spend all your time telling other people they’re evil for having privilege and then get mad when people call you out for having privilege, the thing you are seeking out is not intersectional analysis but rather personal absolution.
