her debut appearance in the game was met with such intense hatred from people that i was defending her in wiki comments. she was deemed "evil" and "morally wrong", called a bitch, and wanted dead all because she had took precautions against the player character and our companion, as we were outsiders to her home, which is literally hidden away from the naked eye in space and no one from beyond the sky had ever come before. of course she's worried and wary. she has a leader position amongst her city and home. the mc and their companion had literally broken their promise to her of being careful while in the main city, so none of the citizens suspect that there are two outsiders and end up in an abrupt panic or curiosity - she had made them promise her for the safety of the people of amphoreus AND theirs
her entire character is constantly overlooked by people, when she has literally all the traits people would love if they were attached to a man instead. aglaea's character gets reduced down to the "mother" of the chrysos heirs, simply because she shows immense care for the people around her and happens to be a woman in power; the "divorced wife of anaxa", whom she is not and has never been in a relationship with. the two of them simply do not see eye to eye—while they respect each other's resolve, they disagree with the other. their relationship is quite surface level, and they do not have a stronger relationship than this in literally any of the millions of eternal recurrences
^ expanding on this, many like to deny it, but her character Does Have lesbian coding in it. her most important and pivotal relationships to her character are with women, she grew up surrounded by women, and her views of beauty & garmentmaking are intertwined with her relationships with the important women in her life (see: cipher, hysilens, tribios, castorice, her garmentmakers, her maidservants). aglaea was someone who was forced to take on the mantle of responsibility far too quickly than she anticipated; it led to her growing rapidly depressed, to the point where she lost her former self so heavily and quit garmentmaking for a period of time because of it. she had only found it in her to pick up the needle again after one of her, and i quote, beautiful maidservants had wished to see her create again Specifically For Her, in comparison to previously when a man had asked to see aglaea's work and she promptly rejected him. that same maidservant had given up her life for aglaea, when an attempt for aglaea's life had taken place at a ball. the maidservant had died wearing aglaea's creations, and aglaea watched her bleed out in the fabrics she made for her yet couldn't do anything to save her. she mourned her with others the following days and sought comfort in trying to weave new pieces, whilst hurting herself in said processes. not to mention, she also literally has an rgu reference in her gameplay
she's lived way longer than normal humans, as she is a demigod with a coreflame inside her. despite her soul thinning and her losing her sight and humanity over time from using her powers as a demigod for so long, she still pushed through because of her role as a leader and protecter
despite everything i just explained, no, no one seems to care or pay attention to her, instead resorting to using her character as a "the mother" for the popular yaoi or cast aside completely
she is literally the sweetest ever and selfless to the point of self-sacrifice just to help others. but somehow, even with the amphoreus part 1 arc being over for a while now, there are STILL people who think she's the most awful person ever despite various other male characters doing FAR WORSE than she has ever done and being loved immensely by the fandom
