Hear me out, I have a prompt for yall.

Prompt - Miracle Work (Human AU)

Crowley is a Foster Parent/Father figure for a terminally ill boy he rescued from the grasps of his own neglectful family. Said boy is Warlock. He loves the boy very much despite not always seeing eye to eye with children in general. He asks Warlock what he wants as his last wish.

They end up writing a letter to the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Aziraphale works at the Make-A-Wish foundation. Everyday he has witnessed children as early as a baby to as old as a tween having to battle illnesses, while trying to perform a little miracle work before they surrender in the arms of the neverending sleep.

One day, he receives one of the requests from a terminally ill six year old boy named Warlock. His wish was as written below:

For just one moment, I would like to feel like I'm king of the world. I want to go to the countryside by the lake and have a little bit of peace other than the loudness of the hospital monitors.

P.S I want Mr. Crowley to find his true love too, that way, he won't be alone when I do die.

Warlock Dowling's father doesn't pay much attention to him. But his nanny Ashtoreth and the kind gardener, Brother Francis, do love him very much.

You cannot tell me Aziraphale wasn't constantly gifting Crowley flowers during this era.

Or that they didn't play into the 'humble gardener with a crush on the strict nanny who acts like she's all stoic but loves it' ALL THE TIME.

Once again thinking about what is going to happen in the finale, I decided to go back to the ending of the book, and reminded myself of this entire passage involving Warlock and Greasy Johnson.

Greasy Johnson, if you haven’t read the book, is the leader of the rival gang to The Them, and it’s heavily implied that he is the third child involved in the baby swap. He is in fact the Dowling’s real child, and Warlock is the Young’s real child.

I find it so interesting that an entire paragraph is devoted to these two and what their futures may bring, and also the fact that not only does it talk about America in this passage, but America. That’s some deliberate emphasis right there. I’m aware that it was confirmed by both Pratchett and NG that the groundwork for the unwritten sequel was laid in the book, and I think this paragraph is a very good contender for that groundwork. Ty his is why I’ve theorised in the past that the finale would be set in America. I’m not so sure that will happen now though, especially considering it was cut down to 90 minutes.

I also note that the paragraph refers to never forgetting “the first friends you ever had, even if you were only a few hours old at the time.” So I like something possibly could have happened between Warlock, Greasy Johnson and Adam here. 3 friends? A holy trinity perhaps?

But once again, because we only ended up with 90 minutes, and because Greasy Johnson never really made it into season 1, I think it would be particularly hard to include his backstory, as it wouldn’t really make a lot of sense to those who’ve only seen the TV show and not read the book.

Maybe this is perhaps something that was cut from the six episodes? Because I don’t see how you can introduce an important character and make the audience care about their significance and importance in just 90 minutes, whilst also wrapping up Crowley and Aziraphale’s story satisfyingly. It may have worked if Crowley and Aziraphale were not the main characters (like how they are in the book), but the show has very much become about them, and I think trying to focus on the other characters and making them just as important would be a bit upsetting to most fans.

Anyway, that’s a lot of ramblings thoughts about Adam, Warlock, and Johnson.
