Sheās reflective of Felicitaās sweetness and meekness - but also her iron will to dig in and survive the hard times. Shortly after the young mother has to give away her son to the church, Joya becomes her sole companion - in life and death. And decades later, itās the little bird who first finds her personās long-lost son. Tenacious and a bit more vocal than Felicita, Joya becomes set on reuniting the two no matter what.

All she did was make a few bad decisions for it to crash down around herā¦and lead to one good decision, hard as it was: giving her baby a chance at a better life.

Felicita grew up on a farm, living a simple and very overprotected youth. She loved to sing and wound up creating a musical group with a few of her friends around her hometown. When she was almost 19, she was permitted to travel with her friends to the next town over - Santa Cecilia - to be a part of a local musical showcase. It was here that she met the talented and handsome RamĆ³n when she saw him dancing to their music.
The singer and the dancer fell in love and eventually eloped - though itās hard to say whether they were ever officially married or not as they simply pronounced it so without ceremony or a single witness. On top of that, Felicita learned a little too late that her dear RamĆ³n didnāt put bread on the table with dancing... Rather, he was a thief. But telling herself it was all in the name of love, she made excuses for herself and her husband and did her best to adapt to her new life...especially when she discovered she was pregnant.
Though heartbroken, Felicita left her baby at the door of Santa Cecilia Monastery - leaving him behind with only his name and a promise that she would return for him when she could provide him. She left Santa Cecilia to be closer to her work and put in even more hours to keep that promise. But it came at the cost of her own health. For nearly four years, she went from job to job and worked herself ragged, all the while keeping in touch with Padre Tomas - the head of Santa Cecilia Monastery - to hear how her son was doing. Eventually the letters began to dwindle and the padre sought out the poor woman - only to discover she had become severely sick. He stayed with her during her last days and saw to it that she was buried in Santa Cecilia Cemetery.
In the Land of the Dead, Felicitaās only link to her son is the blanket she had made for him that she now wears as a shawl around her waist. The only thing keeping her from turning to dust is a musiciansā memorial in her hometown - so though she hasnāt been completely forgotten, she has been unable to visit Santa Cecilia on DĆa de los Muertos to see her son grow up. It takes the events of the movie before sheās ever able to reconnect with him again, but itās the miracle sheās been waiting almost a century for.

For context: Madge came about during the development process of āLittle Lost Invaderā, an AU that was basically an Invader Zim version of The Iron Giant that sadly never got released in fanfiction form. The story called for a Dean McCoppin-type character to play his role in the story - an adult that becomes an unwitting accomplice in the plotline to hide a beast from among the stars from the government.
Madge McClaire is fairly new to the Membranesā hometown when she meets the eccentric and infamous boy genius, Dib, and instantly gets wrapped up in his latest plan. This motorcycle chick is snarky, sarcastic, and street-wise - but as she gets to know the young paranormal investigator, she discovers a strong maternal instinct sheās never really had the chance to realize. Sheās in about her mid-30s, yet has never had kids of her own and has never really even fallen in love. She also has an unabashed sweet tooth. Madge isnāt sure she believes in aliens, but her calm indifference on the matter is a delightful change of pace for Dib, and he wastes no time in sharing everything he theorizes with her. She goes along with what she believes is the kidās healthy curiosity and imaginationā¦that is, until she meets Zim herself in all his undisguised glory. Screams are exchanged. But green-skinned, bug-eyed creature aside, she has enough of a soft spot for Dib to go along with the plan to keep Zim a secret and helps Dib keep him hidden from the authorities. And when Dib is ever in danger, sheās among the first to charge in on motorcycle to protect him.
She lives alone in her newly-bought scrapyard with her cat, and is used to spending her days working alone, creating new works of miniature art from the junk in her front yard and occasionally taking the time to beat up a few virtual vampire piggies. She may also be exactly what Professor Membrane needs when it comes to learning what it means to be a supportive figure in his son and daughterās lives.

Allomers! Ionization! Quantum mechanics! Penn speaks the language of science. Biochemisty, to be specific. Irkens programmed into this class have a discerning eye and a working knowledge of their speciesā life science. Pennās particular ability is to identify, break down, and understand individual components of a chemical structure. She eats and breathes science and discovery, so more than anything she wants to explore everything she can see - and especially what she canāt see. Her trade in the Irken Empire keeps her mainly stuck in the lab, but her heart is set on seeing new places and new things. Throughout her whole life, all she wants is to get off of Irk. Yet when she finally gets her wish, she learns that it could come with some serious costs.
In many cases, due to her age (sheās a bit younger than Zim - if Zim is equivalent to a 15 year-old, she is closer to an 11 year-old) and personality, Penn just doesnāt have the wired caution in her PAK to the point she can realize a fear. She has a tendency to act on impulse, both verbally and physically. Often she will get herself in danger and the realization that āthis maybe wasnāt a good ideaā doesnāt come to her until her life is potentially threatened. She does have two fears that are presented front and forward, however - darkness and being trapped in tight spaces. Penn depends on her eyes more than anything in her work and in the world sheās eager to explore. So when sheās caught in a pitch black area and is unable to use them, it terrifies her. This is only made worse when sheās caught in a tight space - where not only can she not see, but she canāt move. She was programmed and trained for intelligence, so she has little to no combat ability. But that doesnāt mean she wonāt try!
(The extended backstory below is strongly tied in with @aliiienationās OCs and storylines and may not apply to certain character interactions.)
Both Penn and Zim were taken in by the same Irken Elite (Mala) as smeets, who kept them safe and alive from the usual cruel treatment given to defectives by the Empire - so theyāre basically adopted siblings. The two were very close as smeets, yet the older they got and the more they trained and learned in their respective trades, the further apart they grew - especially once their caretaker, Mala, died. Throughout the course of the show, Penn lives as a loyal - but still defective in the eyes of the Empire - worker for the Tallest in the Scientific sector on Irk, making plenty of explosions and making nearly as infamous of a name for herself as her big brother. She only wishes the best for all the years Zim is away - but once she finds out that the Tallest actually lied to him and sent him off with the intention of killing him, her impulsive emotions that label her a defect raise their ugly heads and she pays dearly for it. With her complete lack of inhibitors, she verbally attacks the Tallest and quickly finds herself under fire from the police. She makes her getaway and escapes Irk - only to find herself dead on sight if she ever steps foot on her home planet again. The only place she knows to go is to that mysterious and distant planet her brother was sent off to. And how to greet him? Slap him for not saying goodbye before he left or keeping contact for the last several decades, then hug him because heās still alive and well.
The early 1950s were a game-changing era in stock car racing history. And riding the forefront of that era was a young Will Hudson, the āFabulous Hudson Hornetā. The young racer quickly made waves, including three Piston Cups and a record-breaking 27 wins during the 1952 season. But what was promised to be a successful, long-standing career was cut horribly short in 1954. Thousands witnessed the Hornet careen into a devastating crash during the last lap of the Fireball Beach season final. Little did young Hud know it would be the last race heād ever run. Upon healing up, he expected to return to a grand welcome back to the sport he loved - only to have the proverbial door slammed in his face and some unknown rookie riding in his slot. āYouāre history.ā Bitter and angry, Hud left everything behind - Thomasville, his crew chief, his friends, even his whole identity as a racer. He moved on to study medicine and law and - upon settling into the tiny Arizona town of Radiator Springs - garnered the new identity of āDocā Hudson.
He was perfectly content to leave his old life behind. And for over 50 years, he did - though the experience of so many decades ago still left their sting. And soon enough, salt rubbed that sting back into a full-fledged wound through the sudden appearance of hotshot rookie racecar, Lightning McQueen. They immediately butted hoods - Doc at the notion that his past had come back to haunt him through this errant young punk that tore up his town and Lightning at the notion that this ignorant grandpa car was making him work and keeping him from the tiebreaker race of his life.
It wasnāt long, though, before Lightning learned the truth of who Doc really was. And through a series of misunderstandings, revelations, and unexpected impacts, Doc came to realize how his town had changed and inspired Lightning - and how Lightning had done the same in return. That this kid wasnāt a means to an end. And that - in fact - he saw a bit of his young self in him. Doc swallowed his pride to step up and chief Lightning through his tiebreaker race. Yet that prideā¦a different kindā¦swelled up all over again when Lightning gave up his win and a chance to make history by pushing an injured Strip Weathers over the finish line.
Once again, Hudson was a part of the racing world - this time as Lightningās crew chief. He was finally given the warm welcome he had wanted so long ago and the team of McQueen and Hudson were unstoppable from then on out. Doc even reached back out to his old crew chief, Smokey, back in Thomasville through letters, showing off his new protege - who he soon grew very close to, and came to love like a son. Three won championships later, however, tragedy struck once again. There was scant time between when Docās deteriorating health became evident and when he was just suddenlyā¦gone. With little to no warning. With hardly a word to anyone. The racing world mourned, yet not so much as Lightning and all of Radiator Springs.
While he generally gained a reputation for being the strong and silent type, only close friends saw the warmer side of Doc that finally reemerged in the last years of his life. Only Smokey could tell you - that was when he was the happiest. There was a lot in his life he regretted - but Lightning and Radiator Springs were not part of it.
Where does a draconequus come from? How many of them actually exist in Equestria? Outside it? If anyone actually knew the story of where Quarrel came from, this question might be more easily answered. The tiny thing was found wandering the Canterlot labyrinths as but a baby, with no hints or leads as to where he came from. One thing is for sure, though: he needs a home.
Discord may not be much of a fan of kids, but even his heart canāt steel against big blue eyes attached to a stumbling little fluffy potato - the hoof of a cow, the tail of a lion, the horn of a goat, the body of a kitten - with bursts of chaotic magic. And who can somehow breathe fire to boot. And as he is judged the most qualified to help control and guide the little oneās developing mischievous abilities, it looks like Discord is the new caretaker of a bouncing baby scamp. A prospect he pretends to dislike, buuuutā¦.
Of course, no draconequus - if more do exist - could ever have Discordās level of abilities. (Or so we hope!) Quarrel is no exception. But as he grows, heās constantly learning new tricks - tactical and nonsensical alike. Perhaps a slight slant to the latter. Celestia does have to ask herself now and thenā¦what has she done?? Having a five year-old fluffy being of chaos around is just as rambunctious and stressful as one would think.
The Meoquanee is a little-known pony tribe that lives far out in a hidden and remote region of the Macintosh Hills. Here was where Kestrel was born and raised, the third of four siblings.
Heās a self-taught ornithologist. Birds and the science of birds are his heavily-slathered bread and butter. He left his village only a few years ago to learn about the bird life beyond the hills. Since then, his findings have been amazingly fruitful. Heās quick to recognize several species and is able to imitate an impressive library of a bird calls. Heās also been in the field long enough to know a detailed amount of the birdās biology and is able to medically treat them from natural resources heās collected on his travels.
The downside of that? Kestrel has had very, very limited interactions with other ponies outside his own village. He doesnāt understand or speak much Ponish - and what he does know usually has some bearing in his field of work. āBird.ā āWing.ā āNest.ā āEgg.ā āFly.ā Very basic vocabulary such as āhelloā and āfriendā. Aside from that, he can - and prefers to - manage to communicate non-verbally. Heās quiet, plain and simple. Even when he does feel the need to confront something or someone, heāll do it mostly without words. He also has aā¦..complicated relationship all his life with any animal that isnāt a bird.
And while he doesnāt exactly own her, Kestrel has a loyal friend in a wild osprey heās named Aiyana. He met her as a sick fledgling early on in his travels and nursed her back to health over the span of several weeks. Though heās gotten used to living and traveling on his own, Aiyana is never too far away when Kestrel might need helpā¦or just companionship.

Spike arrived in the heart of Equestria as but an egg, though no one seems to know how. He was hatched in the process of a young Twilight Sparkleās magic school entrance exam - and itās with her heās stayed since. With his own magic, he lives and works with Twilight as her loyal assistant - a position he is fiercely attached to. Heās been with her from Canterlot to Ponyville and back again, through coronations and evil takeover attempts and everything in between. Heās loyal to all of his friends, but the only other pony besides Twilight whoās ever comes close to holding his heart so close is perhaps the lovely Rarity.
Through his own misadventures, Spike has become the undisputed hero of the Crystal Empire and is responsible for instigating peaceful relations between Equestria, the Dragonlands, and the changelings. It was only recently that he went through a rather intrusive molt and sprouted a pair of wings. He is definitely still a kid with a kidās needs. Heās not always going to make the wisest decisions on the onset and heās got a growing drakeās appetite. But he loves little more than to be helpful to any and all of his friends.
(This portrayal is based on my headcanon that he ages from about 8-12 through the course of the show.)
One eerie night, a familiar shadow with a ghastly grin crept its way Ā past the gates of Halloween Town and up to the heights of Skellington Ā Manor. It was only a matter of time before the big news reached Oogie Ā Boogie - thereās a new heir to the Pumpkin Throne. The Boogie Man has Ā finally restored himself stronger and better than ever, and heās got a Ā new plan to take down his lifelong rival. He manages to take Jack and Ā Sally by surprise, and they can only watch as their newborn son is Ā swiped right from the crib and stolen away into the night. The old casino hideout is abandoned, and thereās no trace to be found of either Ā Oogie or little Benjamin for ten long yearsā¦
All the while in the depths of the Hinterlands, Benjamin is living oblivious to the fact that his master has fed him lies his entire life. He was told heād been abandoned in the distant Ā woods as an infant by his parents - the tyrant Pumpkin King of Halloween Ā Town and his queen - and that he was rescued and taken in by the Ā infamous Boogie Man. As far as he knows, his name is and has always been Ā āCricketā. Despite being treated more like a slave boy, he feels he has Ā no place to rise argument against his supposed rescuer - nor are such Ā flagrant actions tolerated. A permanent chip on his right cheek is a grim reminder of that.
Because he is the spitting image of Ā his father, heās worn a mask of burlap practically his entire life - Ā heās been led to believe his heritage is nothing to be proud of, and Ā that one day he will confront the oppressive Pumpkin King. He has a birthright to take back once heās olderā¦and heās being prepared to take it by force.
Pluto the Pup actually made his first appearance in the 1930 cartoon The Chain Gang as a nameless bloodhound tracking down his prison escapee soon-to-be master, Mickey Mouse. His first appearance as the famous mouseās pet soon after saw him by the name of Rover. By the next year, that name changed officially to Pluto - presumably coinciding with the then-new discovery of the planet Pluto. He is reportedly a mix of a bloodhound and a pointer.
This pup is fiercely loyal, incredibly intelligent, and well-trained. And while he does particularly struggle with such failings as jealousy and anger towards anyone who draw Mickeyās attention away from him, his canine heart always wins out in the end. Be good to him, his master, and his friends - and heāll most likely be your best pal.
My rendition of Sir Warner here honestly and probably qualifies as āsemi-canonā more than anything. Because unfortunately, all canon gave us were the bare bones of this character. All we really know is that Sir William the Good was once a knight (reportedly) before he married the Warnersā mother and became a kind and wise king. But what all happened before all that?
Well, thatās what youāre here to find out, isnāt it? (Note: The backstory below is fan-made.)
As a pup, William was one of the few survivors of a horrible fire that overtook the blacksmithing village of his birth. He was found by the king, his knights, and his young daughter - unconscious, over the saddle of a horse that had been sent away from the fires to save the boyās life. Whisked away to the castle for medical care, he woke up in the care of the little princess, Angelina. Once it was established William had been orphaned, the king granted permission for his captain of the guard, Captain Rulf, to take the pup in as his page.
As the years go by, little William dutifully fulfills his role as the captainās page - tending the horses, cleaning armor, running errands, and learning the basics of combat from his master. He is pretty much restricted to the knightsā quarters and the nearby village, so he hasnāt seen the king or the princess since he arrived at the castle. But heās never forgotten the kind royals they saved his life - particularly Princess Angelina. Were it not for her being the first to spot him, he could have died in the rainstorm that followed.
Upon becoming a teenager, William begins his training as a squire. His combat training becomes far more intense, he learns to ride a horse and befriends one of his very own - affectionately named Anthem - and he is hardly away from Captain Rulfās side. He is eventually brought to the castle to begin his training in the knightsā court culture: hunting, dance, courtesy, and especially the code of chivalry - the lifeblood of a knight. He reconnects with Princess Angelina in this time and sparks fly instantly. She even offers to teach William to read and write - which gives the two youngsters an excuse to see each other on a regular basis.
As time sees the two into the dawn of adulthood, romance grows and William is finally appointed as a knight at the age of 18. Heās become an expert swordsman, though he has yet to experience what the heat of battle is truly like. Heās developed a very cocky attitude over the years; one that Captain Rulf knows will be his undoing someday if it isnāt fixed. Until then, heās keeps the boy primarily to guard duty. Williamās assigned posts have therefore kept him never too far from Angelina, and the two hardly go a day without seeing each other. Itās a perfect setup for a madly-in-love princess and her knight in shining armor, and they wish it could stay that way forever.
But then, of course, the day comes. Princess Angelina has come of age, and a tournament is being held not only to find her a husband - but also the next king of Warnerstock. Though the two are devastated at first, William realizes this could be his opportunity to finally marry his dear love and doesnāt hesitate to enter. He learns the hard way - and very quickly - just what heās up against and how his overconfidence has damaged and could completely ruin his chances to win Angelina. If he doesnāt fix it fast, he could lose her forever.
He makes it to the final round by the skin of his teeth. And for the first time with the deciding battle right around the corner, he takes the weight of his responsibilities with honest and conscious effort. But even with Captain Rulfās guidance and Angelinaās care, he still questions if heās truly ready by the time the battle approaches. Itās a close fight that pits William against someone that he thought was his friend - but in the end, a mix of wisdom, wit, and strength sees the young knight to victory. The reunion between him and his love on the battlefield is a joyous one - and though the deal is already sealed, William canāt resist but to propose to Angelina himself. Just as the two have dreamed for so many years.
William then takes up residence in the palace, training in the ways of a prince. He and Angelina are crowned king and queen of Warnerstock five years later.
Most toons are drawn with pre-established attributes, backstories, and personalities. Many never even had a childhood - they simply came into existence as an adult by the skilled hand of an animator and many times stay that age for decades and decades. A handful of toons, however, are born the ānaturalā way. Not drawn for any show or production, carrying the features from two parents, and yet still composed of sketch and ink. Lily is one such little toon. Half Disney toon by her father, half Warner Brothers toon by her mother, she has a lot to learn about just who she is and what ātoon talentsā she possesses. She may or may not have the elasticity to get hurt and bounce back without a scratch. She may or may not have a hammerspace that she can just pull random objects from on a whim. She may or may not have the ability to bid animals to her aid by singing. Itās anyoneās guess - especially hers. And because Disney and Warner toons can have some very distinct differences, Lily is a hodgepodge of personality all on her own. Sheās certainly a āDisney princessā in many ways. That being said, however, her favorite princesses are Rapunzel and especially Mulan - the ones who are wild and adventurous and arenāt afraid to throw a punch. Some days Lily will want to wear the princess dress - but also a pair of boxing gloves to accessorize. Donāt let the flower hat and sundress fool you. This rabbit-kitten has teeth and claws and will throw every little ounce (which physically, isnāt much) of herself into a fight.
