bound hands strained against the rough ties, feeling no give and setting her heartbeat racing a hummingbird beat once more. all sensation was purely touch and sound; her sight had been cut off by the blindfold and movement bound by rope tight around her arms behind her back, legs chained to a spike in the ground. panther had already tried to escape, only to find herself chained like a common animal.

velvet ears atop the mass of ink dark hair twitched with the sound of a door opening, footsteps approaching and teeth were bared as she growled. only with the blindfold being roughly ripped from her did it falter as she squinted, trying to adjust to the neon light baring down on her after so long in darkness. when golden gaze settled on the other, a deeper growl vibrated in her chest as the panther tugged tight against her binds; ice cold rage burning through her body.   ❝ let me go, and i might let you live. ❞   she wouldn’t. jade would take pleasure in watching blood red like his hair stain the floor, for every little thing he’d done against her family.

ears were pressed soft against the waves of chestnut hair, the faunus utterly relaxed as she sat beside the other in the secluded corner of the library. sun had long since set; but with the rest of her team out doing their own various things, velvet had been in no hurry to get back to her dorm, and it seemed like adam had been more than content to stay. probably a little awkward to try and come up with an excuse to leave, mind had thought up for a moment before she brushed it off.

velvet had been about to turn the page of one of the books assigned for their next lesson, when she felt the warm weight of adam’s hand over hers. ears pricked up, alert and twitching too and fro for a moment as coffee coloured eyes rose, widened a little. the way pale cheeks reddened, the heat and colour of them surely noticeable even in the low light of their little corner, velvet’s mouth felt dry and heart felt like it had stopped completely in her chest.

it was obvious, in subtle little ways, just how adam felt about her. an oxymoron but it was true; the pair had become incomparably close during their time at beacon. every moment had the unspoken truth running in the undercurrent, velvet biting her tongue to keep things as they were. soft. safe. but now …
