I love the subtle changes in how they sleep as they get to know each other more, they start off with pillows and blankets to separate the two sides they sleep on but even with those we see them getting closer and more comfortable with each other physically as they grow closer together emotionally until the barriers between them are forgotten altogether.

People are freaking out on Reddit that their cute male lead turned against the female lead in How Dare You, as if Xiahou Dan hasn't been murdering people left and right since this show started but I kind of love it because this is the whole problem with the flag discourse! The whole point SHOULD be that if someone is capable of extreme cruelty to others, then they may someday turn against you and GUESS WHAT HAPPENED! Exactly what one would predict if the flag thing meant anything!
The man is a red flag! He's a walking bucket of trauma and he cannot get therapy. And the female lead loves him anyway and that's the beautiful thing. And it doesn't matter if he deserves it
people really acting shocked when a deeply traumatized character who went through every possible psychological horror alone since childhood and developed a defense mechanism aka his whole tyrant persona finds himself in an extremely triggering situation where the one person he actually cares about and prioritizes over his own safety is in danger and his trauma response (which affects every aspect of his life no matter how hard he tried to hide that side from wanyin) ends up affecting that very person too. like yeah "he's soft only with her while being a demon tyrant to everyone else" was cute and all but realistically it was bound to happen that at some peak extreme moment his trauma would make him snap and it would affect her too

#the thing with trauma that people love to ignore and forget about is when it is as extensive and horrible as xiahou dan's it WILL end up#affecting the people he loves as well#it's not as simple as he can just turn it off and be this soft perfectly sweet loving person that he *wants* to be with her all the time#the triggers are still there the trauma is still a part of him and its built up so much over time#if they had never shown this response of his and had not had his tyrant persona fire onto wanyin at least once#it would have been an unrealistic depiction of the lasting effects of his trauma#and a lot of dramas do that in favour of keeping the ml more palatable to general audiences and ignoring the reality of living with#immense trauma and unhealthy defense mechanisms for it as well as trauma responses that he can't control in a triggering situation#they'll just have the trauma confined to only adding angst for the ml but never *really* affecting or hurting the fl in any major way#im glad this drama decided to not go that route bcuz its a rare depiction in romance dramas
I really like that he lost it on her too, his cracks finally really showed. It seems far more realistic as you say.

ok sorry to double reblog BUT I just looked him up and he does these fantastic videos where he breaks down HOW he actually mimics the other artists’ styles. Like for ed Sheeran, he explains how he brings his voice forward in the mouth, while Adam Levine sings in the back of the mouth, stuff like that.
