For those who want to learn more about Gdevelop 5
I have been playing around with Three.JS for 3D. I am very impressed. I am not expert as I have mentioned many times. When learning Game design. I have always thought you needed a complete game engine. That was until I started playing with Three.JS. This library is not a complete engine and as such is stripped down. This allows you to create a game or project with just the essentials (like Pygame). I would highly recommend checking it out. Note - Three.JS is a 3D library that executes in the browser. This is even cooler, as you have no need to package up your game.
I have recently been playing around with more traditional animation. This here is a simple template for a soldier, firing and working a bolt action rifle. I drew the original frames, scanned them in, then arranged and timed in Photoshop
GDevelop 5 just got a whole lot better you can now creat reusable functions and it has an in engine 8bit sound generator. Head on over to gamesfromscratche’s YouTube channel for more details!
Created recently. Just a recording from my mobile device. I have compressed and mastered in Adobe Audition, but it could also easily be done in Audacity.

I have been messing around with 2D game asset creation in After Effects again. Here is my first attempt at creating an explosion. If I get into it, I will make these assets free an avaliable on opengameart.net.
Ww1 German charge just a sketch.
3 frame walk cycle duplicated several times over to give that walking effect.
8 frame explosion animation
Some more concept art

Simple iceberg, not sure if this is the precursor to an animation or just a drawing.
GDevelop 5 -- Ultimate Beginner Game Engine?
GDevelop 5 is potentially one of the simplest game engines to start learning with. Naturally there are some limitations. The engine is only 2D but that said it's an excelent place to being gaining those game creation skills.
Mike at Gamesfromscratch, has does a closer look (and potentially might do an up coming tut series).
If you want to know more check out the video and the Gdevelop website.
