I was only 18 when I read 'The Stationery Shop of Tehran', Novel by Marjan Kamali, that made me bawl my eyes out in the middle of the night. The experience sparked my curiosity about Iran's history and how the Islamic regime suppressed their identity, culture, and ultimately, their people. It's through literature that I form my opinions and express support for what I believe is right. I have watched many documentaries about Iran's history to educate myself about their struggles and revolts. Now, as Iran is in flames, I think back to that book and how, even in the 1950s, Iranians were fighting against the regime. They still are. Women are being killed for not wearing hijabs, and children and men are shot in front of their loved ones. We don’t know what’s happening because the internet is being cut off. We can only hope and show our solidarity through various social media platforms. So, don’t stop. Keep posting. Keep reminding the world about Iran and their fight for freedom.

it's crazy how normalized misogyny is like you find out a man doesn't believe women are people capable of equitable rational thought and logic reasoning as men and you're considered weird if you express discomfort associating with him
