How the Kpop Community Can Support BLM
So I know I haven’t been active on tumblr for months on end now, but I feel like this is the biggest place I can talk with my mutuals on.
Did you all see what happened to the Dallas Police’s app when we spammed it with fancams. We can do so much to help, and so much more still.
We’re kpop fans, we know how to stream and we’re good at it. So stream BLM videos on YouTube, ad revenue will all be donated to bond funds, for advocacy, for funerals, and more. It’s just like how we stream MVs: watch all the ads, watch the whole video, and click out and back in to the video to rewatch.
Donate. Now I know it’s hard financial times for everyone, but consider instead of buying your favs new album or merch, taking that money and donating it to your local bond funds, to Reclaim the Block, to the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, to Black Lives Matter, and more.
Sign petitions. If we can make multiple accounts and vote five times a day for music shows or MAMA then we can take the time to sign petitions. Not only for George Floyd, but for Breonna Taylor, for Willie Simmons, for petitions concerning police brutality, for civil rights bills, for defunding police departments, and more.
I don’t have a twitter presence or an insta presence in our communities, so if you can: spread this message. Show other kpop fans how easy it is for us to lend our help to this fight now and continually in the future.
If we can sign petitions for X1 we can sure as hell sign them for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Reclaim the Block, etc.
