Catch me if you can - which is funny because that’s essentially himself lol. I think Cobb read the book and found it inspiring. It shaped who he later became as an extractor: someone taking on different roles, being one step ahead of everyone else, always going after what he wants and getting his way more often than not.
imagine this… you are dom cobb. you have finally been reunited with your children (who im going to say is 4-6 years old (james) and 6-8 years old (phillipa)).

I had a particularly depressing Eames backstory written that'll probably never see the light of day otherwise, so here it goes:
Eames' dad left the picture when he was young. He kept his dad's surname Eames, while his mom reverted to using her maiden name. They weren't very well-off and his mom worked as a nanny for a rich couple, looking after their son. She ended up having an affair with the father and getting pregnant, so he left his wife for her.
Eames now has a younger brother and a half-brother who are both sons of his asshole step-father. Eames and his mom move in and his mom takes his step-father's surname.
So in effect: he's called Eames because he is the only Eames in his own family.
And then his step-father pays for his education to a very expensive school where he's always felt like the out of place poor kid, and joins the military in part to get away from him, which lead him to the dreamshare experiments etc. etc.
Lol it would be very funny if it is because everyone fully expects it to be fake. But his real name is probably something very common like Charles or George or more "ridiculous" and old fashioned like Fitzgerald or Archibald.
One day on a job, the PASIV dumps Ariadne into a dream as a guy. Once he gets over his surprise, he realizes that everything feels so much better and his subconscious knew all along.
He continues doing dream heists long enough to pay off his transition, then quits and has a long, happy, healthy life as an award-winning building architect whose PASIV usage is entirely recreational. He still keeps in touch though.
It’s a very common hc in the fandom but I really like the idea of Eames getting more into extraction after practically carrying the whole Inception job and seeing the evidence of just how good he is after Cobb retires and usually doubling as extractor and forger.
Surviving the job is also what gets Arthur and Eames (back) together. Whenever they work together they use their disagreements/fights as foreplay and find pleasurable ways to release the tension afterwards.

After Cobb's retirement, Arthur and Eames start working together more often, they still clash and butt heads most of the time but their jobs go way better and easier now that Cobb's out of the way. Slowly they come closer until they finally take that last step towards exploring that attraction that's been simmering under the surface for years. Being them, it's not easy being in a relationship while also working together (their fights are legendary) but they make it work somehow. They often work with Ariadne and eventually Yusuf is forgiven and allowed to move out of the doghouse, too. Arthur still remains sceptical about him, though.
21. Do Phillipa and James’s names have any particular meanings?
I think Mal and Dom made a deal that Mal would name their firstborn and Dom their second child so Mal chose Philippa (after her childhood best friend) and Dom chose James. If anyone asks him it’s because James is a name that has been in the family for years but it’s actually because of James Bond.
