The Inception fandom is the best fandom ever??? You guys are all so nice and have consistent events and literally the BEST FANFICTION I HAVE EVER READ IN MY LIFE. I don’t think any other fandom can collectively top the SKILLS of you Inception writers.

I also celebrate every day I see a new piece of Inception fanart because theyre always so good… and on that note… Thank you SO MUCH for supporting my fanart I post here! Inception is the longest fixation I’ve had on a piece of media and if it wasn’t for this small but supportive fandom I don’t think I could’ve done it.

And yeah most of the fandom is arthureames AND IT’S SO CRAZY HOW WE BUILT 8000 FICS FROM LITERALLY AROUND 2:30 MINUTES OF SCREENTIME TOGETHER (althought more like an hour if we’re counting them being alone) the amount of analysis we do on each word they say is dedicated to say the least and honestly always really good.

Day 31: A letter to the Inception fandom

Okay, where do we start?

I feel like the new kid in this little community of Inception fans, since most of you guys are full-grown adults, and I'm just a girl who really loves this movie, a friend recommended to me when we were talking about movies.

This Inception 30-Day challenge is my first one, and I received many waves of support from all of you, and it warms my heart to see it every time I open up Tumblr.

As this Inception 30-Day challenge ends, I'd like to thank everyone who supported me. I'd like to thank the actors who portrayed these fantastic characters for us to fangirl over. I'd like to thank all these wonderful blogs for their outstanding work. I'd like to thank Mr. Christopher Nolan, for without him, I would not be writing this letter to all of you lovely people.

Thank you for existing 💛

It's been a long year since the last challenge, and the last few months and weeks have been particularly taxing for me, physically but especially emotionally, and it'snot over yet. But through all the little (and maybe not so little) struggles and worries, this fandom, this community, has been a little pocket of warmth and light, a beacon in the storm.

All of this month's events really helped me and brightened my days, even if I've not been able to actively participate as much as I would have wanted. But I promised myself that, despite feeling drained of creativity and inspiration, I would finish this challenge, to treat myself with a little joy every day.

And it really has been! So, thank you to all the mods who've been organizing all these awesome events, and to everyone who contributed and is still contributing - even just a little, even just by supporting and cheering on other people - to make this Inceptiversary month wonderful.

And to everyone who is part of this fandom, even if they haven't been able to participate, because life is hard or whatever other reason, you're all awesome!

Day 27: Who would create a podcast and what would it be about?

Eames would probably make a podcast about the most random shit. Sometimes Arthur guest stars.

Day 29: Your favorite thing about the movie.

The amazing community it made!

Day 30: A headcanon about something that happened during the movie timeline.

So a scene is unfolding; saito is dying, yusuf is driving madly thru a hail of storms and projections, plan A, B and probably up to Z are finished and Cobb is suggesting something that’s giving Arthur an aneurysm.

And Eames is giving THIS look.

Everyone knows eames is a charmer and also likes to tease the hell out of his darling Arthur , but this look, this wolfish-impish-sultry smirk, has always bothered me. And not always in the best way.

If I presented this gif without any context, it would appear as if Eames is actually plotting against Arthur and Cobb, instead of together.

More importantly, his smirk disappears and gets replaced with a look of (ah my English is failing me sorry) , calculated observation? Like “well well well, now let me satisfyingly observe how you are affected, hmm?”

Sorry for the poor quality but look, but even through the grainy dots, you can see expression he’s wearing so so clearly.

So here’s my two cents about this.

The original inception attempt, that made Arthur say “it’s impossible” and Eames to say “it’s just bloody difficult” , I believe stem from the same attempt; meaning, I think that was their last job together which kind of drew them apart (with the background cobb bullshit) I believe they couldn’t come together (ahem) at a crucial point in the mission, which drove them apart for good, amidst all the tension.

I think, that in the original attempt, when the plan fell halfway through, Eames did come up with an on the spot plan (“dream a little bigger darling”) and Arthur wanted to stick to the original plan (“we need a little better than might”) . Despite the romantic feelings, I think the way they approached challenges stood in the way and may be caused a rift in their lives as well as the plan. And Eames, couldn’t convince Arthur successfully to go ahead with a different plan than the original and that created a domino effect failing the job and pushing them apart.

So I believe that’s the reason behind the almost threatening smile behind that split second, despite the love lost and everything, Eames wanting to see how Arthur would react to Cobbs whirlwind of a plan. May be it’s a little bit of hurt and jealousy remaining , all feelings entangled.

Arthur and Eames definitely had sex after the “I’m impressed” exchange.

Their banter there was especially charged, and they just couldn't resist. Arthur being turned on by Eames’ show of competence and confidence and Eames being driven mad by Arthur’s teasing (and his yellow tie that had originally been Eames’ own but had somehow stayed in Arthur’s possession after they separated).

They refused to talk about it, they couldn’t, not then, with inception looming over them, with all its risks and all that uncertainty about what was going to happen. But still it changed something, something shifted between them, the air filled with promise and renewed hope, and determination to see it through the end so they could finally reconnect for real.

Day 29: My favorite thing about the movie

Just finished watching the k-drama “S line”, where certain people are gifted with a vision to see the red line of intimacy - S(ex) Line -, connecting the two peoples with sexual history.

I am glad we could all see the red line, bright and clear.

Um... everything?

I mean, it’s not perfect, of course it's not. But it's so compelling, and so rich of themes to build on and layers to peel off. I think it has something for everyone. It has sci-fi elements and action elements and murder mystery elements (in a way). It has love and team dynamics and father-son relationships (again, in a manner of speaking). And it is beautifully done. There's a reason why fandom keeps going strong even after 15 years and people keep discovering it again and falling in love with it again.

I also love the characters, all the characters, because while they clearly are stereotypical heist team 'types' drawn in broad strokes, there is a human dimension to them. They don't feel like stereotypes but like real people. People we know little about, sure, but as it is with many colleagues, we may not know them very much, their interests outside the job, their history, their hobbies, their struggles, but that doesn't mean they don't have any.

Hands down: the fandom!

I've come across a lot of engaging media and amazing movies over the years, and read thousands of great fics too. But this fandom, these fine folks, are the ones that make it special, and unlike anything else I've been part of.

Day 28: What did Fischer get in trouble for as a kid?

This is lowkey inspired by one of my irl friends who got in trouble for eating too much.

I don’t think he ever got in to any trouble ever, not because he was a goody-two-shoes (he was. that boy wanted his fathers approval since day ONE) but simply because he was the rich kid. If life is anything like here in anywhere, that much is definitely true.

Having said that, I think he was getting caught up often by associating or sitting with the staff a little too much. I see him as a kind boy who loved his staff and entourage like a family (“uncle Peter” 🥺) cause, well, his actual one wasn’t around much.

He would carry his plate and go sit with them or just go and talk to them about their day. Or recite his own when he wants to share with someone.
