"this fic uses em dashes, so it must be ai-generated" real humans use em dashes.
"this fic has long paragraphs with overly described details and scenes, so it must be ai-generated" real humans can write like this.
âthis fic only has short paragraphs, so it must be ai-generatedâ real humans can prefer short paragraphs for their works.
"this fic has inconsistencies, so it must be ai-generated" real humans make errors and mistakes. that's why we have this thing called plot holes. sometimes writers are tired and they don't remember what they wrote in the last sentences or paragraphs, let alone chapters.
"this fic sounds robotic and unnatural, so it must be ai-generated" not every writer writes in their native language. sometimes they can sound 'robotic and unnatural' if they wrote in their second or third or fourth language (and kudos to them).
"this fic has a prompt left in it that the author forgot to delete, so it must be ai-generated" the 'prompt' the author accidentally left in their fic could actually be a part of an outline that was meant only for them, so they could keep track of what they would write.
"this author posts too often, no human writes this fast, so they must use ai" 1.) you don't know how fast someone can or can't write, how much time a person has in a day or how motivated/skilled they are. 2.) the frequent updates you see could be something that has already been finished and sitting in the author's drafts for god knows how long. just because it's recently posted doesn't always mean it's recently written.
my point? no, you can never know if a fanfic is 'ai-generated'. unless the author says they use ai, you're just assuming, suspecting and witch hunting. chances are that you're not going to 'stop ai fics from being created', you're just going to wrongly accuse genuine writers of using ai and ruin their day at best, make them want to quit writing or sharing their works at worst.

Iâm not a fan of ai, but I can accept that if someone chooses to use ai for their fics or their art, that is their choice. not something I agree with. but still not my business, and I will never condone harassment.
if anything, I think itâs better if these people feel comfortable enough to tag their stuff as ai, so that other people can avoid their works if theyâre not comfortable with ai-generated contents.
that said, I think ai writers will stop tagging their stuff as ai entirely if people shame or harass them for it.
so now their stuff is still ai, just untagged, meaning thereâs no way for others to know if itâs ai.
keep in mind that speculation, accusations and witch hunt harm genuine artists and writers as much as ai does, if not more.
so if you go to the âai-generatedâ tag on ao3 just to harass people for using ai, just know that youâre not actually fighting against ai â youâre just being a bully and youâre also making people more wary of properly tagging their ai-generated works as such. so youâre just making sure they no longer tag their ai-generated stuff as ai. also you can be reported for harassment, and ao3 will not take your side. (whether or not you like it, ai-generated works are allowed on ao3, whereas harassment is not.)
the âai-generatedâ tag on ao3 is there so people can either find or avoid works with ai (but in order for it to work, ai users must feel comfortable enough to be honest and tag their works properly, that wonât happen if people keep shaming and harassing them for it â the only thing harassment will do is make sure ai stuff go untagged, harassment doesnât stop people from using ai).
the âai-generatedâ tag is not there so that you can freely harass people with no consequences.
Also trying to guess if a work is AI generated based on arbitrary criteria like the Em dash or whatever, is 1) objectively inefficient because AI mimics human writing, so human writing will contain all those things too and 2) a witch hunt and we shouldnt condone witch hunts on principle. You're hurting those human writers you're trying to protect. Doesn't that ring bells...
So yes. AI generated works is allowed on Ao3, because people will use AI whether you like it or not.
You don't go harassing people because they have written a [insert here your worst ick] fic, you don't go harassing them for tagging a fic AI. Remember the old saying "Don't like? Don't read"
I personally won't use AI, I won't read AI generated fic,and I'd rather have a tag so I can filter them out.
Tangential, yet related example: I spend a lot of time (too much, let's be real) on Pinterest. I click through to a LOT of sites from pins.
And every time I get part way through what I thought would be a nice blog post/article on craft room organisation or a new recipe or X other topic, and I realise that the images/text are AI generated, I feel betrayed. Every single time. I want to know what *actual people* have done to solve problems similar to my own. A gen-AI image can't show me that. It's gotten so bad that I installed a blocker extension in my browser so I can block entire whoops!AI websites from my presence.
Out of the dozens of web pages I've landed on in the last few months, ONE has had a disclaimer at the top saying that the images were AI generated. It's the only one I didn't block. Because *they were honest about their content*. I even read about a third of the post before deciding that no, this wasn't what I was looking for after all.
They told me what to expect up front, so I didn't feel tricked. That's really all it took. That's the point of tagging things.
Ever think about how Eliot is known - widely known, globally known - for violence? That he's killed and maimed countless people, sometimes with his bare hands? That hardened criminals, assassins, hear his name and are afraid? Ever think about how it must feel to have someone like Parker, who is fully aware of his past and everything he's capable of, get in his space and physically tease him and put stupid hats on his head like he's her own giant dress-up doll, with zero fear, zero hesitation? To be on the receiving end of that bone-deep trust, where it never even seems to occur to her that poking the beast could be dangerous?
#i also think about the way Eliot yells at Parker and Hardison sometimes#because! he's so controlled! so soft-spoken! with everyone#because he knows he IS scary and dangerous. he keeps his demeanor so mild to put people at ease#but when Parker and Hardison get under his skin he shouts at them and shows his irritation#as if HE is trusting THEM to know that his anger will never ever come with violence. that he is never a threat to them.#he can let his guard down. he can be human. and cranky. and imperfect. he can be teased like a regular person.#i just wonder how it feels. to be seen as lovable and funny and playful and safe.#to be seen as a man after so many years of only being a weapon. Look, I have nothing against my older gifs still gaining notes - I honestly love it! BUT, this was my second ever leverage gif, and lets just say that it's just not up to par when compared to my current stuff. So, here you all are, a new improved version of this gif!
I just came across two "authors" that have written fics Im interested in.. and I rigured out they used ai for the whole thing
How should I deal with blogs like that? Do I report them? Block them? Should I do anything at all?
Because I commented on the first fic asking if its ai and they blocked me so I cant even protect anyone else from reading that because I forgot their name
And on the second fic I commented I asked the same thing and they suddenly deleted all of their post but they had a full ass masterlist
Is asking about ai an insult now? Cuz i dont want to blame this people out of the blue
Im asking, but they are quicker to get offended then to defending "their" work..
Am I the crazy one??
can I be honest? you are in the wrong here. I stand with the two authors, and Iâm glad they blocked you.
you said you âasked if their works are aiâ which means the authors did not specifically say their works were ai-generated, meaning you guessed, based on vibes, and then you threw an accusation at them. I have already talked about why itâs rude, entitled and insulting for someone to ask a writer if their works are ai-generated here, here and here.
and I have said time and time again that âai witch hunt, speculation and accusations harm the writing community as much as ai does, if not moreâ.
so whether or not you know it, you are harming the writing community â just like ai does, if not more â by going around asking random writers if their works are ai, as if writers owe you anything (fun fact: they do NOT owe you anything).
every âai telltaleâ is something human writers write. what do you think ai was trained on? what do you think it was trained to mimic?
âhow do I deal with this?â by curating your own internet experience. block them if thatâs what you want (you can block anybody for any reason). itâs not your problem or your business how a writer writes, whether or not they use ai.
no, I am not a fan of ai, but I can accept that if someone chooses to let ai write everything for them, then that is their business. do I agree with them? no. will I harass them for it? no. will I call them out? no. what they do is literally none of my business.
also no, itâs not your job or your business to âprotect anyone from reading their worksâ. you are not their parent. if someone reads their works and if they think itâs ai, then they can make their own decision on whether or not they will continue reading it.
if you think their works are ai, you can choose not to read them. you can block them if thatâs what you want. but
1. writers do NOT owe you anything
2. yes, itâs absolutely valid for a writer to NOT want to be asked if their works are ai â them deleting their works after you asked them if their work is ai is NOT proof that they used ai. they could very well be devastated that something they worked so hard on was accused of being something itâs not, and if thatâs the case then you should be ashamed of yourself. (if they did use ai then thatâs still their choice, their business and something they have the rights to do â even though I donât agree with them, I will never condone harassment.)
3. I have already seen enough writers step away from posting their human-made works online BECAUSE PEOPLE KEEP ASKING IF ITâS AI. and it can be very disheartening for them. (me personally I donât care if someone asks me this, because I know I donât let ai write for me and I never let strangersâ negativity affect me, but I understand why some other writers care.)
3. no, you cannot know âfor sureâ if a fic is ai-generated. unless the author says so themself, you can only guess based on vibes. as Iâve said before, every ai telltale is something human writers actually write, otherwise ai would never have been able to mimic it at all.
4. harassment will never ever make you the good guy.
also you cannot report them for being ai, let alone because you personally suspected that itâs ai, because ai-generated works are allowed. itâs allowed on ao3 (hereâs what ao3 said about ai-generated works on their platform), and since tumblr as a site itself, just like every other social media platform, also promotes and uses ai to help them run the platform, I guess itâs fair to assume they allow ai-generated contents on their platform too.
again, I am not a fan of ai fics, but I condemn harassment, ai witch hunt and speculations more.
respectfully, do better.
if anything, I believe you owe these two writers an apology.
Bruce leaning into the whole airhead billionaire shtick at certain events, knowing that it pisses off Lex Luthor, who cannot prove it but knows that Bruce is not that dumb. For fuck sake, Lex knows that Bruce is a polygot, that he can follow physics equations, that Bruce literally aced his exams. Why? They shared a dorm room in boarding school. However, Bruce sees how much it winds him up so he really plays into it.
Bruce outs Clark as Superman while Clark is interviewing him and Lex. "I don't know why you two can't get along like you are now đ Superman, maybe Lex just wants to spend time with you đ¤ And Lex, babe, the robots are cool and all but you can't like throw them at Superman đś That's not how you make friends." Lex tells Bruce to stop, rolling his eyes. Bruce goes on a rant about how the butts match etc. Clark is literally sat so still, trying not to move.
Lex yelling at Bruce when he pretends to not have overheard a conversation Lex was having with an arms dealer in Korean and Lex is all "you speak fourteen languages, Bruce" and you got Bruce who is near tears over his puffing because he only speaks two? "I only speak American and English đđ"
Bruce giggling at some charity quiz show panel between Ollie and Lex, because he's so sorry but he doesn't know any countries? Like what are they??? Lex is screaming at him while Ollie hits the button so confidently going "Las Vegas".
Bruce sitting next to Lex on a plane (they're economising for PR) and he's fucking reading a book that's upside down???
Bruce asking Lex about the business finances, asking which company is "winning"? It was the day that LexCorp stock was tanking.

Eridians cant "hold their breath" like humans do, their vents dont close completly so water can still get in, if they fall in water they drown and die. safe to say rocky is not a fan of when grace does it for fun xD
(i got the inspo for this from this fic: Enrichment by alatarmaia4, please check it out it is so funny)

i want to put my thoughts behind this: this was supposed to be a piece for pride month, titled "you were loved". the sky is the color of the aroace flag (just upside down)!
basically, i wanted to show an aroace person â an old aroace person, to be precise. being aroace myself, i am always told that i will forever be lonely and miserable if i don't get a partner. so showing grace, who is aroace to me, as old and happy and fulfilled and oh so loved by his best friend, was really important to me <3
PERSONALLY I like that the strawhats are preoccupied with their dreams ambitions and sailing the seas w their friends and donât think romance is narratively necessary, but itâs legitimately so funny how oda was like âthe old generation of pirates? biggest fucking sluts youâve ever seenâ
DannyMay Day 27: Molt
This is also posted on Ao3!!!

âDanny,â Sam kicked his foot under the table. âDanny, your arm.â
Danny frowned at her, sandwich lifted to his mouth. âWhat about it?â he asked, glancing down at himself. He was wearing a jacket and a long-sleeved shirt, so it wasnât like anybody could see anything beneath it all.Â
âHurry up and fix it, already.â
Danny sighed and put down his food. He didnât know which arm she was complaining about, but both felt fine. He wasnât tingling like he did when parts of his skin turned translucent and greenâthe border between his human and ghost forms degrading, and leaking into one another.Â
He would know if he was, in that case. The sensation of ectoplasmic, unliving flesh superimposing itself over the breathing constructs that made up his human form was a distinctly uncomfortable one. It was quite the sight, and a markedly disturbing one, tooâor so all his human companions told him.Â
He understood why it would be strange to look at, in theory. But he didnât experience the unease his friends and sister did when they saw him like that. He didnât really get a feeling about it at all.Â
He pulled his sleeves down, and stared at his left arm.Â
It looked⌠normal.Â
There wasnât even any ghostly flesh this time! He was 0% see-through! His forearm was pale, boney, and entirely opaque, and the world was as it ought to be. Â
He poked at the skin of his wrist, pressing a finger into the tendons and bones there. The veins running under his skin were slightly green in color, as they had been since the portal accident. It wasnât something someone would notice unless they were looking for it, and if they did noticeâwell, who was to say he didn't have a health condition?Â
Otherwise, the skin of his human form was exactly that: human. Perfectly as it should be.Â
âI give,â groaned Danny. âWhatâs wrong with it this time? I canât tell.â
Sam buried her fingers in her hair, and dropped her head onto the table. Beside him, Tucker looked up from his PDA. Tucker stared at Sam for a moment, before he twitched, and his eyes darted to Dannyâs left hand as if magnetized.
Tuckerâs dark skin turned pale, and he swallowed. His Adamâs apple bobbed violently, as if he was fighting the urge to be ill. Tucker pulled his eyes away from Danny, and looked at the spot beside Sam with longing. Danny had the strangest, most certain feeling Tucker was jealous of Sam, at that moment. He desperately wanted to be where she was.Â
Notably, on the other side of their cafeteria table.Â
Danny squinted at his wrist. He pulled the cuff of his sleeve back, and watched as the last of the flesh clinging to his arm sloughed off. It fell back into his sleeve and rolled down to rest below the crook of his elbow, before disintegrating into nothing.Â
He still didnât see what was wrong.Â
He had started molting last night, but that wasnât much to be concerned with. His flesh would come back in a day or two, as good as new.Â
Slowly, Tucker reached forward to pinch Dannyâs jacket sleeve, and guided his arm underneath the table. With his other hand, he grabbed Dannyâs ear and pulled it until Danny was hunched low against the table, and staring deep into his eyes.Â
Danny was deeply, intensely confused.Â
âWhat?â he yelped. âWhat is it?â
Sam groaned loudly from across the table.Â
âDanny,â Tucker practically hissed into his ear, âyour flesh is meant to stay attached to your bones. Weâre not meant to see your bones! Or your tendons! Or any other parts of your body that are meant to stay beneath your skin!â
Danny opened his mouth. He blinked, and looked at his arm again.Â
This wasnât the first time heâd⌠renewed his flesh since heâd died. He could always stop himself from doing it, and his ectoplasm would work doubletime on regenerating his missing flesh, but then his human form would start slowing down and rotting. The smell was dreadful, and just about impossible to cover up.Â
Surely his friends knew that by now, right? He couldâve sworn heâd told themâŚÂ
But then again, Dannyâs molts only happened once every other monthâas far as he could tellâand the timing was off for this one. Usually he started losing flesh on Friday afternoons, not Thursday.
âI⌠uh. I see now,â he said, intelligently. âHm.â
âDonât âhmâ us,â Sam growled, fists slamming against the table. She had stood up to lean over the table, and in her eyes, he saw the definition of infuriation. She looked a moment away from launching herself over the table and choking him to death. âFix it before someone wisens up and notices, you idiot!â
Shoving his hands deep in his pockets, Danny got to his feet. He backed away from the table, and subsequently, further away from Sam.Â
âYou know,â he said, shifting his weight on his heels, âI really have to go to the bathroom, all of a sudden.â Tucker and Sam looked at him like he was the bane of their mutual existences, and he chuckled.Â
He loved his friends, even if they were way too worried about small things like these. It was funny how Sam thought this was an issue he could simply⌠will away, though. He couldnât.Â
Too bad he didnât have any powers that could affect his appearance. Even if it was only a temporary change, something like that would be handy in circumstances like this. Then he wouldnât have to worry about someone noticing his liminality spilling into his human form.
Illusion powers, he thought wonderingly. Man, I wish I had those.
Before Tucker or Sam could say a word, Danny slipped into the crowd and left the cafeteria.Â
