Let’s Fill This Town With Color - Part 1

This is the first time I’ve ever made a set so huge and I’m very nervous about posting it haha. I was tired of being so limited in my colour choices, and since learning fence recolours are possible I decided I simply had to do something about it.

Feedback is very welcome! I think I’ve double checked everything, but let me know if there are any issues.

ok so i downloaded this lovely set of recolours (bc i love having more purple things in my game) and i’ve run into one issue: the solid colour staircase won’t place and just gives me a “stairs have invalid game object” error. i can replace another staircase with it but i can’t delete it for some reason. i can delete the underside of it though, but even then i can’t delete the staircase itself

This is an adapted version of @syaovu's how to sort non-default eyes cc by style not by colors. The post linked to a faster grouping method by applying changes to the entire package instead of individual swatches which I followed and didn't quite work as expected with nondefault eyes.. But based on the previous knowledge from the two methods, I've updated the tutorial on how to sort/group your non-default eyes custom contents with just a few mouse clicks!

Required: CmarNYC's S4 CAS Tool

Step 1: Open S4CASTool_version.zip, run S4CASTools.exe, enter your creator name (any character will do), and check for the right directory to your The Sims 4 folder, hit Save.

Step 2: In TS4 Cas Tools program, click on Clone Package Editor tab, and click Select to choose the package you want to change.

Step 3: In Clone Package Editor, click on Recolor Manager tab and you'll see the sorting order of every swatch in the current package.

Step 4: Under Recolor Manager tab, click on Renumber Sort Order and a window to change the sort value will pop up.

Keep the "Renumber using start value and increment" option.

Here I use the same tactic recommended in the original tutorial, go for big numbers! Swatches with bigger sort values will appear at the bottom of the eyes color panel in CAS. You can use this method to organize your eyes cc how you see fit!

Set your start value to 1000. For increment input, I keep it 5.

Apply changes by clicking on Renumber.

Step 5: Finally, hit Commit Changes, and Save Package. 

Step 6: Repeat steps 2-5 for every non-default eyes you want to sort with different start values such as 2000, 3000.. etc to avoid mix-up.

Step 7: When you're done, place the packages into your mod folders, open your game, and there you have it! Neatly organized non-defaults eyes in CAS the lazy easy way. 😋

ea getting hit with a data leak in 2021 and origin having a damn near 10 year exploit which explains why people get hacked on origin way more than epic games or steam. this company not instilling any other safeguard since then other than an extremely weak 2FA and finally doing away with origin for a platform that is arguably worse.

Someone in the community finally got ahold of EDITH! For those of you who are new players EDITH was the in-house developing tool that was used to develop TS1. Since TS1 and TS2 share a core engine it also means that we have the tools that potentially could be used to edit TS2 as well. This is because sims in both TS1 and TS2 sims use the SimAntics engine for behaviors.

This could lead to being able to create more complex sim bhavs much while modding!

This is a big deal because it allows you to edit character behaviors WHILE the game is running. It also is much more in depth than most other modding tools because instead of being a program that was reconstructed to edit the game it's the tool that can edit anything IN the game.

I've contacted Luc (the person who upload the video) to try and get a copy to upload to the Sim Archive. This is such a neat discovery and I hope that TS2 modders who are very savvy will look into trying to make it work with TS2? If not, we can only hope that one day TS2's version of EDITH will be release to the public.

Now, that being said; here comes the only exception, for me personally. When stuff like this starts to happen to decent/kind people. You bet i’m going to call you out/@ you/whatever. And no, reblog-warriors, I’ll do it out in the open, not in the hashtags. I’m not going to be passive-aggressive on this or sitting this one out.

What we’re seeing now here is a dedicated Tumblr from @cc-creators rounding up early access creators that brought out statements saying they opted for further EA clarification later this month.

There are early access creators on that list who have done nothing but share amazing free CC, share their knowledge (freely) and interact with the community on the regular bases and this is how we’re going to treat them now? Putting them literally on the exact same page as all the perma-wallers, people contacting their fancy ‘lawyers’? My ahum... rage from this weekend came from a place where i was expecting that these shenanigans (blsckbooklists, etc) could eventually be happening given the intensity and the divide within the community right now.

And this post of @sugar-sugarsims​ sharpening the pitchforks even further, seriously do you have any clue what this type behavior can lead to? For everyone who doesn’t know, we had some very serious doxxing incidents (posts about it here and here) a few months back.

I’m finding this a very slippery slope what you’re doing @cc-creators and @sugar-sugarsims​ contributing to keep the fire, thats been started, burning. You guys are now literally creating a list of names. They are aliases but there are REAL people behind them. What do you think other people can do with the actions you’re instigating with this behavior? This is one of the ways a social media witch hunt, which can lead to doxxing, starts like.

“I’m not responsible for other peoples actions” Yes you are! You created the list (cc-creator) or spread a list of names (sugar-sugarsims). Information about real people that are now exposed to for example harassment, by some of the people that read your blog or post. You both instigated that.

This sentence above from the disclaimer of that website is very disturbing. A.k.a; “I can cause a fire but do not take any responsibility for the people who get hurt by it”. I find it appalling that you can say; ”hey, i only created the list but i’m not going to stand for any damages those people might suffer by my list or other people who used my list to inflict damage. because they are wrong and they need to be told!!!”.

Got the news yesterday but I was thinking about what to say.

As EA clearly stated, I will not make Early Access content anymore. Everything will be free since the date posted. This feels bittersweet for me, to be honest.

I’m not gonna lie, I’m a bit scared. You guys know this is my way to pay college, therapy, meds and many other things, and now is where I kindly ask you to stay and support me. I have nowhere to go at this moment and I feel lost, I have to find any other income now and to be honest I DON’T KNOW how.

However, this is like removing a big thing from my back. It’s like getting out of an abusive relationship with my own self. I’ve been feeling so bad the last days I can’t even get out of bed, all because I HAD to make content worthy of an Early Access to be able to pay bills. I don’t have to overwork myself anymore now, and this is the bittersweet part. 

Anyway, I’ll still be here, and I’m happy this will be back as my hobby (that’s how it started), but yet, please, keep up with me and help me fight :)

This is recent, I just refreshed my dashboard, but EA allowed Early Access again.

With this said, I’ll tell you guys something: I’m not going back to early access.

“But Ellen, why the HELL?”, I’ll tell you why. I’ll even say things I wasn’t supposed to say but i will.

Simandy and I have been on simblr a similar amount of time, and I think we’ve both seen the difference in the atmosphere of the community. She was the reason I got into making hairs with the help of her wonderful free tutorial. She’s made some of my favorite hairs, and I started off recoloring them even before I started to make my own. I have fond memories of that time because of her and creators like her, even if we didn’t interact personally, because of the way everyone was focused on creativity and sharing with one another.

Was it perfect? Oh, heck no. There is no true golden age of simblr lol. But… it was certainly better than this wave of crushing pressure and stress that dropped onto creators, along with the discontent and loneliness of creators and non-creators alike. We can’t turn back time, and I don’t think that would be the solution anyway- all we can do is try to make the community a better place in the future.
