THEY KEEP ON ASKING ME, âWHO IS HE?â
Chat wonât stop asking, despite how many times you try to steer the topic at hand to something else. Their opinions on your current Animal Crossing build? Ignored. If you should crochet a cardigan or bucket hat for your cat? Little to no responses. Lavender latte or milk tea for Drink of the Day? Lavender latte wins, but Chat immediately goes back to your hidden boyfriend.
This is what you get for forgetting to mute your mic. You had a whole phone call about dinner before realizing your mistake, and now everyone knows that wholesome, cozy Twitch streamer lightberry swears like a sailor when discussing pork katsu and calls a special someone âbaby.â Itâs been clipped already, you just know. At least you didnât put him on speaker.
ââ100 subs if you tell us his name?ââ you read. You'll indulge them because indulging Chat makes for good content. âIâll tell you literally anything else.â
If you told them his name, you would end up trending on Twitter.
ââIs he also a gamer?â Yeah. Mostly League, Genshin, Apex. Heâs been trying to get into Valorant. Now, 100 subs, please.â
Felix, otherwise known as LixInABox, is a gamer and streaming personality who has nearly a million subs on Twitch. He has a partner, an elusive figure exclusively referred to as âMy Partner.â There are rumors that My Partner (MP) doesnât actually exist and that theyâre a cover for his singleness.
ââ20 subs if you tell us his rank?â Sure. He's pretty high in everything. I canât ever duo with him, except in Genshin.â
When he started streaming, he was primarily known for his League of Legends skills. Low Masters on a good day, Diamond 3 on the bad ones.
ââShow us a picture.â You know what, Iâll do that for free.â
Chat is not happy when you pull up a photo of Marshal from Animal Crossing. To be fair, he does resemble Felix a little.
While they continue to pester you about his identity, you continue terraforming your butterfly-shaped lake. When Marshal walks by with a sandwich, you make sure to point him out.
âThereâs my boyfriend,â you say as you glance at the chat, which is scrolling by so quickly, your eyes can barely keep up.
ITâS LIX
MP MP MP MP
LIXBERRY
Youâve got a ship name already? How did they figure it out? Did Felix reach a million subs? He joked that he would reveal who MP was once he hit a million, and you sort of gave him the green light, but surely he would tell you beforehand? You sit motionless at your chair and try to come up with a solution that doesnât involve straight up lying.
LIXBERRY LIXBERRY
MP IS REAL
HEâS LIVE
It doesnât matter what you do. By doing nothing, youâve confirmed it, so you go back to how it all startedâyou call Felix, live on stream. You leave your mic unmuted intentionally this time.
âHey, what did you do?â are your first words. You have his stream up as well, so you see the blush on his face. âYouâre live on mine, by the way.â
âI didnât do anything! They figured it out! I mentioned that I was gonna have pork katsu for dinner, and like five minutes later, they connected it back to you. What did you do?â
âI forgot to mute during our call,â you admit. âAnd I also gave them hints in exchange for subs, but I didnât think they were anything obvious.â
He looks at his chat and laughs. âYou basically told them what Iâm famous for. And a picture of Marshal? No wonder.â
âMy bad. See you at dinner?â
He smiles, and you canât help but do the same. âYeah. Love you.â
âLove you, too, baby.â
Chat explodes. You and Felix will never live this down, but it feels better than you thought. And you really donât want to admit it, but lixberry is really, really cute.
HEâS THE ONE THATâS LIVING IN MY SYSTEM, BABY.

ŕŠâŠâ§ đ𩰠â felix thinks he's subtle as he pines over you
pairing : felix x gn reader
genre : fluff | warnings : none
chan's ver.
"felix can you please concentrate?"
the idol startles at the comment, looking up from his phone to see the boys staring at him expectantly.
"oh, right," he sheepishly mumbles, placing his phone up side down reluctantly as chan goes back to briefing them on the likely plans of their latest comeback. but felix's heart wasn't in it.
he couldn't help himself when his right leg started bouncing unconsciously and he chewed at the inside of his cheek.
why hadn't you acknowledged the flowers he had sent over to your place over an hour ago? he knew the florist was only a 5 minutes drive from your place, so there was no way you hadn't received them yet.
felix was in love with you, and everyone seemed to know it except for you. but in your defense, he'd never tried to explicitly make a move. he instead resorted to sending you flowers everyday. every evening when you reached home from work, there would be a bouquet of the most beautiful flowers you had ever seen waiting for you at your doorstep. everyday was a new flower with their meaning attached and signed by 'your secret admirer'.
it was adorable and the most touching gesture someone had done for you in a while, and you would thank the sender everyday by storying the flowers or tweeting about them. felix had been waiting for this acknowledgement for the past half an hour, thumb growing sore as he refreshed his notifications every two seconds.
did you not like the flowers he sent this time? were you okay? did you reach home safe?
"felix, if you really want to know if y/n received the flowers or not, just text them about it?"
felix startled for what seemed like the 100th time that day, meeting hyunjin's eyes defiantly.
"if i do that, then they would know i sent it to them."
"isn't that the whole point?"
"no."
all 7 of them collectively let out a sigh. this had been going on for months.
chan understood felix's plight, though. he'd been in a similar position himself.
the elder shook his head, subtly pulling out his own phone and typing in a quick message to you.
[ chan ] hi yn :)) which flower did your secret admirer send this time?
it was an innocent question, since you usually updated chan about the flowers first.
you immediately read his message, but when you didn't reply chan furrowed his brows.
but the next second felix jumped up from his chair, a giddy smile pulling at his lips and scaring han half out of his mind.
"they tweeted about it!! they said they loved them and it made their day better."
what felix failed to notice was the little sun emoji you had used when you tweeted about the flowers; an emoji you explicitly used only when talking about or to felix.
oh, so you knew.
how you knew, they weren't sure, but the boys did not have the heart to tell felix that for all his efforts, turns out he hadn't been subtle at all.

[10:19] Why did you have to live with such a stupid roommate? Really, how hard was it to close a goddamn door?
Of course Jeongin was dumb enough to think that just because you werenât home meant he could leave his door wide open while enjoying some personal time and of course he didnât account for the fact that if you did come home the only way to get to your bedroom was past his. So at present, it was his own fault that you were stuck in the hallway, frozen in the shadows as it had dawned on you and you contemplated what you should do.
If you walked past now he would be embarrassed. Honestly, he should be embarrassed acting like this as if itâs just a normal thing to do. You wondered idly what he did in the common areas when he knew you wouldnât be home. God you hoped he cleaned up after himself.Â
Your other option was to just stand here, and wait. There was no way you could do that. If you were lucky heâd fall asleep but if he went to the kitchen or bathroom heâd see you. Was it possible to just leave the apartment? Maybe but you would just sit in the hallway trying to time your entrance and that was decidedly stupid.
Jeongin let out an unabashed moan, no doubt because he figured no one was around to hear, and you shifted a little where you stood. It didnât help at all that your body was reacting of its own accord, warmth pooling between your legs from the sounds of his moans and the sight of him laying back on the bed, hard cock in his hand as he moved at a slower, steady pace.
Maybe he liked teasing himself? Or being teased? You tried to wipe the idea from your mind, cursing him once again for his stupidity. And cursing your own stupid, horny brain for enjoying it at all. Would you be able to wipe this from your mind or would your brain bring it all back up when you tried to have your own alone time? You didnât want to think about it.
Jeongin let out another moan, but this time much more of a word. A specific word. A word that happened to be your name.
Nope, you were definitely not about to try and process that. You did not need your mind dwelling on why he was moaning your name of all names. The hall was dark and Jeongin was decidedly distracted. It was better just to make it to your room, if you were careful he never needed to know and you could pretend this never happened.
You managed to tear your eyes away from Jeonginâs form, trying to block out the pretty moans and gasps from your mind. You stepped carefully, into full view of the door. Another glance you stole towards his form, planning to be past the doorway but instead your foot landing on the one creaky floorboard in the whole apartment.
Jeonginâs hand froze in place and his eyes snapped open, meeting your expression of bewilderment with his own. Very quickly you noticed the way his face started to flush red and he scrambled to grab his blankets and cover himself as your feet refused to move and take you to the safety of your room.
âWh-What are you doing!?â He cried.
âI-I should ask you that!â You retorted. âWhy did you leave the door open!?â
âY-You were gone!â He said indignantly. âI donât- You- Why were you watching me?! Pervert!â
âHow am I a pervert?!â You cried. âYour door is wide open!â
Jeongin opened his mouth to respond but a banging and a yell from the upstairs neighbor to shut up made you both fall quiet. When Jeongin met your eyes again some of his frustration had melted away into pure embarrassment. Your feet still felt frozen to the spot and after a moment more of staring at each other Jeongin cleared his throat.
âH-How um- Did you h-hear anything?â He mumbled.
âY-Yep.â you kept your answer short, looking anywhere but Jeongin and wondering if chopping off your legs was an acceptable behaviour in this situation.
âI-I thought- you- Th-This isnât h-how I imagined it.â You werenât sure if you were meant to hear that with how quietly he said it but at this point you couldnât ignore it. You felt the embarrassment flushing through you too.Â
âWere you- Did you want me to- Oh my god did you leave the door open on purpose?!â Surprise crept into your voice as the thought dawned on you.
âNo!â He said immediately. âN-No I just- I didnât think I-I was just horny a-and thinking a-a-about u-uh-â
âA-About?â You werenât sure why your heart was racing so fast as you tried to anticipate his words.
âN-Nevermind,â he mumbled.
âHey, you left the stupid door open. You did this to yourself,â you pointed out, though there was more softness in your voice. âSo you have to deal with it.â
He dropped his gaze away from you, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. âY-Youâre really gonna make me say I like you, huh?â
Why you felt your heart burst out of your chest you refused to think about. You stood there in silence until he started to crumble in on himself and only then did you stumble forwards. Despite half your brain screaming to go to your room because this was weird, the other part of yourself wanted to offer him some comfort or at least tell him you didnât hate him.
âI-I you donât have to say it.â You managed.
Jeongin eyed you shyly. âI should, though.â
âH-Huh?â You shifted a little, standing at the edge of the bed and feeling the quick pattering of your heart as he properly trained his gaze on you.
âI should tell you, I like you.â He said. âI just didnât want to make things weird.â
You managed a laugh, feeling a little more relaxed as he relaxed. âSo this isnât your idea of weird then?â
Jeongin snorted as you sat with him on the bed. âI could make it weirder.â
âOh?â
He grinned at you. âI could have asked you to join me.â
You werenât sure if he expected you to laugh, or maybe shove him away and call him gross. But he seemed almost unprepared for the way you gave him a wide-eyed look. You could feel the heat creeping up and down your body at the thought of his suggestion. You sputtered a little and Jeonginâs smile faded.
âS-Sorry,â He mumbled.
âU-Uh,â you shifted a little, looking away from him again and unsure how to explain the way warmth was sinking into the pit of your stomach. âThatâs not- youâre fine.â
âOh?â
You werenât sure if he noticed how you pressed your thighs together. Or maybe he saw how you grabbed at the covers on his bed, but he grinned again, moving closer to you. It made your stomach do flip flops as he leaned in.
âUnless you wanted me to ask you to join,â he giggled.
âI-I look I didnât leave the door open so-â
âDo you?â
âYou were moaning my name-â
âDo you?â
âAnd you called me a-â
âBut do you?â
You finally looked at him, swallowing hard.
âMaybe I do.â
Jeongin grinned wider, not saying anything and instead closing the distance. Despite his slight cockiness his kiss was full of a sweet desperation. It took very little time for you press closer to him, feeling a rush of excitement as his hand grabbed your waist. But a much bigger rush of heat as your hand landed in his lap and even through the covers you could feel he was still hard.
You didnât think too much about the fact that that embarrassment didnât kill his boner and opted to save that tidbit of information for later.
You started to remove your hand but he grabbed your wrist, keeping it there. âNo.â He said first. Then, more gently. âI-I mean if you want.â Another pause and then âPlease?â
You felt your heart melt just a little as you palmed him through the covers, taking in the way he was starting to pant into kisses with you. Carefully you pulled back the covers enough and while your lips never left his you wrapped your hand around his cock, squeezing him a little and running your thumb around the head.
Jeongin breathed out curses against your lips. âYour real hand feels so much better.â
You felt some rush of arousal from his words, some part of your mind feeling extra warm that he was imagining you. That didnât stop you from laughing into the kiss at his comment. He stiffened a little, gripping you a little more tightly, but you moved your hand, pumping his cock steadily.
âYouâre cute,â you murmured.
âIâd prefer sexy,â he retorted.
âShould have thought about that before admitting to fantasizing about my hand,â you snickered.
Jeongin pulled away from the kiss, whining and hiding his face in your neck. âY-Youâre mean.â
âI never told you to have a crush on me,â you started to pump him more quickly, starting to draw moans from his lips. âYou did that to yourself.â
âD-Didnât choose th-that,â he managed.
âAnd yet here we are,â you chuckled. âInnie being a cutie, not wanting me to leave him alone, not wanting me to stop touching him.â
âSh-Shut up,â he mumbled, fingers gripping you tighter as he muffled your moans against his neck.
âBut itâs fun,â you hummed. âAnd you get all cute when youâre shy. Donât you want to be cute for me?â
ââM not a-answering that,â he mumbled, hips pressing up into your hand as you moved just a little faster.Â
âOne day Iâll get you to,â you grinned. âDoesnât have to be today.â
He let out a whine, pressing even more into the skin of your neck.
âAre you gonna cum, innie?â You hummed. He didnât answer, just nodded quickly, fingers digging into your waist. A few more gasps fell off his lips until he let out a soft cry and hot cum spilled from his cock, all over your hand. You helped him through the waves of his orgasm until he started to tremble and you tried to pull back.
He let you free his cock from your grasp but he kept you close, resting his chin on your shoulder. You had a hunch he was too embarrassed to let you look at him.
âD-D you have to tease me like that?â He mumbled.
âJeongin, if you can look me in the eye and tell me it doesnât turn you on I wonât do it again.â You murmured.
âYou suck,â he muttered.
âYouâre welcome for the orgasm,â you snorted.
He pulled back only enough to peek at you. âI bet you wonât be so cocky when I return the favour.â
âH-Huh?â His change in tone caught you off guard and he took advantage of it to push you back onto the bed.
âI bet youâll be just as cute for me, wonât you darling?â
You're a vampire. He's a werewolf. You live in the same dorm, but that doesn't mean you have to interact right? Wrong. Cue every Friday and Saturday night in the basement laundry mat.
You know it's him without looking. It's always him.
He sets his heavy laundry bag-black mesh straining-on the machine next to yours, and heaves out a sigh that reminds you too much of a kicked puppy.
You resist the urge to look at him as you select the delicate cycle.
"Mutt."
He doesn't look at you either, long fingers already pushing quarters into the slots of his machine.
"Blood-sucker."
You roll your eyes and as the washing machine rumbles to life, lean back against the warming metal, eyeing him in annoyance.
It had been like this ever since that first fateful Friday night, when both of you had shown up in the nearly empty dorm laundromat, dirty clothes in hand, quarters at the ready.
You had instantly smelled it.
And he had instantly let out a noise entirely too close to a low growl in the back of his throat.
And that was that.
You had come to the uneasy conclusion that neither of you were going to change their laundry doing schedule, because, between school and work and well, you know, nightly routines, there was no time quite like late on Friday and Saturday nights to frequent the deserted laundry room.
So now you tolerated-honestly that was a generous word-each other's presence for the few hours you saw each other on the weekends, the sound of tumbling clothes a constant background to the unfolding drama that was your relationship, if that even could be used in this instance.
You didn't think it should be.
Hyunjin finishes tossing his first load into the washer and slams the door shut with a bang, instantly hopping up to sit on the machine, his usual resting spot for the duration of his laundry endeavors, and eyes you with slightly annoyed amusement in his dark eyes.
"Did you bring your extra strength stain remover for all those blood stains you're gonna have to get out?"
You scoff and shoot him a glare. "Please. I'm not a messy eater. The only blood you'll likely ever see me have to get out is once a month when my uterus tries to kill me."
Hyujin raises a dark brow and it disappears into the blonde of his hairline, and you ignore the brief thought that he's entirely too pretty for one of his species, that he probably has fur the color of sunshine and soft as cashmere when he turns and paws the size of dinner plates.
"How nice of your victims to consider your linens."
You roll your eyes and glare down at the soap you're filling the machine with, all liquid and green and smelling like fresh cotton, whatever the hell that's supposed to smell like.
"As if. This isn't the dark ages. Some of us have advanced, unlike the dogs you must associate with. They're not victims. They're all willing, consensual participants in my feeding and their pleasure. But you probably wouldn't understand that."
Hyunjin laughs, a sharp, sarcastic note, and you resist the urge to look up at him as he leans forward, trying to peer into your face, the tilt of his head oddly reminiscent of a curious puppy, blonde hair falling into his face.
He's not cute. Don't think that.
"If you must know, Vampirina, I am never anything but a gentleman."
You hide the fact that your lips want to curve into the start of a smile as you look up to meet his gaze with a blank look.
"That's cute. Did they teach you that in obedience school?"
Hyunjin grins, his teeth white and straight and perfect.
"I graduated with honors obviously. Top of my class."
You can't help it, you laugh, a short, stilted laugh, but a laugh nonetheless and you don't miss the way Hyunjin's eyes brighten at the sound, enough that you almost imagine him wagging his nonexistent tail.
"Ah. So she does smile."
"Shut up." You slam a finger down to finish the current load of laundry, trying to force your face back into a grimace. "I'm pretty sure I didn't command you to 'speak.'"
Hyunjin is still grinning, smug and altogether too pretty, and he mocks a barking sound as he jumps down from his own washer and begins to switch over his load of lights.
"Pretty sure you don't have a treat for me either, Dracula, and I don't do shit for free."
*****
The next time you run into Hyunjin, he's at the laundromat before you, which is surprising, considering he always seems to be running behind schedule.
Stupid dogs.
The laundry machine is already humming away as you heave your own basket of dirty clothes onto the counter beside him.
"Hey, dog, drool on anyone yet today?"
Hyunjin sticks his pretty pink tongue out at you and you flash him a smirk as you insert your coins and dump your laundry into the waiting washer.
"Not yet. But the night's still young." He hoists himself easily onto the counter and swings his sneakers against the machines as he watches you work, entirely nonplussed. "What about you, Nosferatu? Stick anyone today?"
You keep your features schooled into a blank expression, forcing yourself to ignore the itch under your skin that is Hwang Hyunjin, and toss a capful of detergent into the washer.
"No. Also. You smell."
Hyunjin grins. "Thanks. I went for a jog right before this, just for you."
You shoot him a glare, eyeing the fact that he is indeed wearing nothing but running shorts and a loose tank top which looks slightly damp with sweat, and turn up your nose, sniffing in disdain.
"I prefer my château de'dog a little less fresh and a little more nonexistent."
Hyunjin hops down from the counter, the stupid grin still on his stupid face, and pats your head, as if you're a child and he's simply entertaining your temper tantrum.
You resist the urge to rip his hand off right then and there.
"Don't worry, Hotel Transylvania. I'm an acquired taste, but you'll come around."
"I seriously doubt that." You mutter sourly beneath your breath, probably unheard over the thud of the busy, tumbling washing machines, but unlikely, because you're dealing with a man with literal canine hearing.
Good. You hope he heard.
*****
You're just tossing your delicates into the dryer when you hear the sound of laughter coming through the door, and glancing over your shoulder, your mood instantly sours, because it's none other than wonder dog, and he's not alone.
The red-headed girl who hangs off Hyunjin's arm laughs loudly at something he says under his breath, and his gaze flicks to you, but you're studiously keeping your gaze on the suddenly very interesting dryer knob.
The click of her heels is obnoxious, and besides, who wears heels to the dorm laundromat on a Saturday at 10 PM anyway?
Apparently the people Hwang Hyunjin chooses for company.
You glower at the settings as Hyunjin sets down his laundry bag right beside the dryer you're using, and you catch a whiff of the girl's overly loud and bright perfume, along with something incredibly plain, incredibly human.
Damn, had she used the entire bottle?
Hyunjin leans against the edge of your dryer like he doesn't have a care in the world, and when you glance up to meet his stare with a glare, his lips curve upward into a smug smirk.
"Hey there, Buffy."
You resist the urge to correct him, to snap back that Buffy was actually the Vampire Slayer, not the vampire, but you clamp your mouth shut and resume your laundry, deciding to ignore him.
The girl giggles and leans into Hyunjin's space in a way that has your skin crawling with annoyance, and you're not sure why.
You blame it on the strong, nauseating smell of her perfume.
"Buffy? That's such a cute name!"
You manage a thin lipped smile in her direction. "Thanks." You can feel Hyunjin watching the two of you, waiting for something, but you force yourself to keep eye contact with the girl, to keep your voice casual and level, bored even. "How'd you meet Lawrence Talbot here?"
The girl's forehead crinkles in confusion at your words, and you can practically feel Hyunjin's gaze boring into the side of your head.
Oh you poor dumb thing.
"Well, regardless," You turn back to your final laundry load casually, pulling it all out of the warm dryer and throwing it haphazardly into your basket without looking at either of them. "Make sure you take him for plenty of walks, yeah? He just loves to chase the birds in the park."
You glance up, giving the girl a conspiratorial wink.
"I love the park!" She exclaims shrilly, clinging to Hyunjin's arm and jumping up and down, a feat in such high heels. "Can we go tomorrow, Jinnie? Can we?"
You're pleased to see that Hyunjin looks like he's going to murder you.
"I dunno, Raquel, I kind of have-"
"Have what?" You interrupt, standing up now, basket at your hip, an innocent smile on your face. "I'm sure whatever it is can wait, right, Jinnie? Just long enough for you to take your girlfriend to the park?"
Hyunjin flashes you a look that could kill, that is, if you weren't already dead.
You smile and reach out to pat the girl-Raquel-kindly on the arm before you brush past them toward the door.
"Don't forget his ball!" You call over your shoulder, and catch one more glance of Hyunjin's rage darkened features before you leave the laundry room with a triumphant grin.
*****
"Aw, vacationing alone today, hound?"
Hyunjin shoots you a slight glare as he pushes his quarters into the machine next to you, the metal coins clinking loudly down into the slots one by one.
"Aw-" He mimics you, sticking his tongue out in your direction. "Spending your Friday night at the dorm laundromat again, Count Von Count?"
You roll your eyes. "You're here too. What, did Rachel forget your collar at home or something?"
"First off, her name is Raquel-" Hyunjin fires back, shoving his first load of laundry into the washer before he angrily slams the door and turns to you, arms crossed over his chest. "-and secondly, my collar is currently at the dry cleaners. Leather and all that."
You turn to face him head on, because you're many things, but never one to cower in the face of a fight, especially with a werewolf.
"Did she get you a cute little engraved heart with her name and number on it to hang from the d-ring? So if you get lost, the pound will know where to return you?"
Hyunjin lifts his lip, and the motion reminds you of a wolf, backed into a corner, snarling, teeth on display, but when he speaks, his voice is as low and steady as ever.
"Funny that you think the pound could hold me."
You grin wickedly, every word dripping with sarcastic venom, as you step toward him.
"Funny that you think Raquisha would ever even look your way, let alone date you, if she knew what you really were."
Hyunjin's eyes flick down to your fangs, the tips poking past your lips with your smile, and something in your stomach clenches, though you tell yourself it's just because he's staring at you, and you really hate his guts.
"Let me ask you a question, fangs."
Your eyes flash and you hold your ground, staring him down.
"Bring it, Remus Lupin."
You're ready for a fight. You're more than ready.
So when he heaves a sigh, a sigh that reminds you of a dog settling down after a long day beside the fire, and steps back, hands going into the pockets of his skinny, torn jeans, it catches you off guard, and you instantly feel like you're floundering suddenly.
Hyunjin cocks his head and regards you seriously, allowing a tiny smile to slip across one side of his full lips.
"What about you?"
You open your mouth, confusion clear on your features, and ask bluntly, because you don't know what else to do, "What about me?"
Hyunjin scoffs, more to himself then you, and tilts his head back, long blonde hair dusting his shoulders as he stares at the ceiling for a long moment, the only sound the rumbling of the washer in the background.
Great. You broke him.
Finally, he lets out a self deprecating chuckle and reaching up to rake hair back from his forehead, meets your gaze once more.
"Would you date me? Because you already know what I am."
Your mouth drops open, and Hyunjin's gaze is once again drawn, like a magnet, to the exposal of your fangs.
"Why-" You stutter out, all the quips, all the names, all the quick replies suddenly lost in your shock. "What do you mean?"
Hyunjin grins, his nose crinkling, and steps back toward you, leaning against the washer beside you, your forearms brushing. He's warm, warmer than a usual body, and it instantly soaks into your unusually cold skin like a ray of sun on a winter day.
"I just thought-" He shrugs, laughing again, dark eyes bright. "You know, we do this thing, whatever this is," He motions between you and then to your piles of laundry sitting untouched behind you. "every weekend, and I thought that maybe it was time for me to ask you out on a date that didn't include the dorm laundromat and sharply witty nicknames."
You consider him silently for a moment, and then you slowly nod, because when he puts it that way, it doesn't seem so odd.
You have gotten used to your routine, to Hyunjin being a part of it, and honestly, you could probably get used to him being in parts of your other routines too with a little practice.
"Fine."
Hyunjin looks caught off guard, eyes going wide and bright, like a puppy that has just been granted a treat and a 'good boy.'
"Really?"
"Yes." You nod curtly, once, as you turn to restart the dryer behind you, avoiding his gaze. "You can take me on a date, but-" You hold up a finger and let your lips curl into the hint of a smile as you face him once more. "You can forget about dropping the name-calling, because that's never going to stop, wolfman."
Hyunjin grins, and for a moment, you get lost in the brightness of it.

Your phone rings and you groan, answering it reluctantly.
"Where are you? You were supposed to be here five minutes ago." Chaeyoung's voice meets your ear without a proper greeting.
âIâm in the cab. I promise Iâll be there soon.â You say, eyes watching out the window, waiting for the diner to come into view.
âOkay, well, theyâre about to seat me. I guess Iâll see you at the table.â She updates you on what youâre currently missing.
âOkay, see you soon. Bye.â
âBye.â She signs off.
A few minutes later, youâre stepping out of the cab and entering the very colorful diner.
âHi, table for one?â The handsome server at the front desk asks. You note his purple hair. Well, this is a fun place, you canât help but think.
âActually, Iâm meeting a friend. She should already be seated.â You politely inform him.
âAh, yes, follow me.â He guides you to where Chaeyoung has already been seated.
âTook you long enough.â She jokingly remarks.
âOh, give it up, itâs not my fault there was a bit of traffic.â You wave a hand at her.
âTrafficâŚright.â She drags out, unconvinced.
âThere was!â You defend. A third voice interrupts before Chaeyoung can respond.
âHello, my name is Jeongin, and I will be your server for today.â He recites the usual greeting.
You look up to return the greeting and see a boy, taking note of his appearance: early 20s, black hair, captivating smile. His uniform is rather interesting. Heâs wearing a navy blue, long sleeve shirt with bright yellow stripes and a white collar, over a white button up with a plaid, tan ascot tied around his neck. The brown newspaper boy hat perched backwards upon his head matches his long, brown apron, which covers most of his plain, black pants. He finished the look off with a pair of black converse, and you canât help but find it all quite charming.
Something weird stirs inside of you when his eyes meet yours. It feels like time stops, the noise from those around you fades, and you feel yourself getting lost in those deep brown eyes. The two of you stare at each other for nearly a minute before Chaeyoung clears her throat. You suddenly shiver, gaze reverting to the table. Your hands rub away the goosebumps that have arisen on your arms.
âSorry about that,â He stutters out a nervous, apology for staring, and proceeds to drop the menus in his hand. He throws his hands up as if to say âseriouslyâ, before swiftly bending down to pick them back up and handing them to the two of you.
âUhâŚand that.â He winces. âIâm new here if you couldnât tell.â He explains. You give him a nod and a small smile in sympathetic understanding. You almost think he blushed at that, but you brush it off.
âAnyways, what can I get you two to drink?â He raises a hand to readjust his hat, trying to get back on track. You both take a quick look at the beverage section on your respective menus, ordering your usuals.
âOkay, Iâll give you some time to look over the food while Iâm getting your drinks.â He says more to you, sending another smile your way before walking away from the table. You both watch him walk away. Chaeyoung immediately turns around when heâs out of sight and catches you still watching the spot he disappeared to.
âOkay, what was that?â Chaeyoung grins at you.
âWhat was what? Heâs just a bit clumsy.â You defend him, playing coy, but you know thatâs not what she meant.
âYou know thatâs not what I meant.â She gives you a look before continuing, âIt wasnât just you; you know? He stared back at you for just as long.â
âHe did not, and we were not staring at each other, okay?â You pause briefly, wracking your brain for an excuse, âI was just trying to remember what he looks like so I could call to him if we need him.â
âSure, sure.â She lets it go, for now.
âAlright, here are your drinks.â Jeongin sets the drinks on the table, along with two straws. He nearly knocked your drink over when he went to set Chaeyoungâs down, but you just found it cute.
âAre you two ready to order?â He pulls a pen and notepad from his apron.
Neither of you spent much time actually looking at the menu, more engrossed in your conversation than what the diner has to offer.
âI can give you some more time?â He offers after noticing the silence from you both.
âActually, weâve never been here before. Is there anything you would recommend?â You speak up, eyes searching for his only to find them already on you.
âIâm still learning the menu myself, may I?â He asks, gesturing towards your menu.
âOh, yeah, go ahead.â You lay it flat on the table, turning it in his direction. He bends down and his proximity has you holding your breath. You admire his side profile as his eyes scan the menu.
âI really like hash browns. So, if I were you, Iâd get any meal that comes with it.â He turns his head, and your eyes widen a bit in surprise, his own doing the same. He is really close. Like, you could kiss him if you wanted to, close. You feel your face warm.
He straightens back up instantly, clearing his throat. You peek at his face and swear heâs blushing again.
Itâs probably just because heâs moving all over this diner and surrounded by steaming hot food. You tell yourself, brushing it off once again.
âThat sounds good. Just give each of us one of the platters that come with hash browns.â Chaeyoung nods at him. He scribbles down the order and places his pen and notepad back into his pocket.
âOkay, I will return with your food momentarily.â He glances at Chaeyoung before his eyes look back over to you. She hands him her menu, but when he goes to grab yours, his hand brushes over your own. You giggle and he fights a grin. The smile wins and it remains on his face as he gives a final nod. He walks backwards for a few steps, eyes still on you, before turning to face the right way.
âHe totally likes you. He keeps smiling around you, and I think I even saw him blush.â Chaeyoung remarks as soon as heâs out of earshot, pulling her straw out of the wrapper and taking a sip.
âNo.â You shake your head, taking a sip of your own drink. âHeâs just being friendly. He smiles at you too.â
âPlease, heâs barely acknowledging me. He certainly doesnât turn red when he does look at me.â She counters, rolling her eyes playfully.
âItâs warm in here. Heâs probably just flushed because of the warmth.â You shrug.
âDonât act like you donât like him too. Your pupils are practically turning into hearts when you look at him.â She teases, reaching out to swat your arm.
âYouâre ridiculous, you know that?â You cross your arms, shaking your head again as you look around the diner, but you canât fight the smile her antics inspire.
You happen to look in Jeonginâs direction. Heâs supposed to be taking orders from the family seated in front of him, but you see that heâs already looking at you. He ducks, looking back to his notepad when he realizes you caught him staring. Maybe Chaeyoung is right.
âAlright, here is your food. Sorry about your wait.â Jeongin apologizes as he places your food on the table.
âThank you.â You smile at him and grab your utensils, preparing to dig in.
âLet me know if you need anything else. Iâll be around. Enjoy your meal.â He smiles back. âOh, and please, enjoy your meal.â He adds, before walking away.
âDidnât even look at me.â Chaeyoung points out, raising her spoon in the air. You just smile to yourself, beginning to feel more confident he really is into you.
The two of you enjoyed your meal, finally moving onto other topics besides whatever is going on between you and Jeongin. He continuously checked on your table, making sure everything tasted good and getting you both anything you needed. Even when he was away from your table, you couldnât help but notice all the times he seemed to be looking at you instead.
He returns when youâre both finishing up, bringing the bill, and collecting your dishes.
âSo, how was it?â He inquires, looking to you.
âIt was really good. Thank you for the recommendation.â You thank him, giving him that same warm smile youâve been giving him all night, which he continues to return.
âGlad I could be of service.â He laughs, hand flying to the back of his neck. âIâll just get these out of your way now.â He adds, referring to your plates.
When he goes to grab your dishes, he accidentally drops one plate on top of the other a bit too harshly, the utensils on top clanging together.
âSorry.â He apologizes, wincing at the sound. You giggle at him, still finding his actions endearing.
Your hands brushed for the second time that day when you hand him the bill back. You swear he let his linger for a moment this time. You could feel the cool metal of the rings he wore. He looks down with that familiar smile on his face, shaking his head before retracting his hand in favor of placing it on his face to hide it briefly, before proceeding to walk away.
With the table cleared, he bids you both a good day. Then, heâs off to return the dishes to the kitchen. When heâs out of earshot, Chaeyoung leans across the table towards you.
âOkay, hereâs the plan. Iâm going to wait for you outside, while you stay here to see what happens.â Chaeyoung explains lowly.
âWhat? You are not leaving me alone in here.â You shoot her a look of warning, voice coming out in a yelled whisper.
âItâs only for a few extra minutes. Just give him some time to make a move if he wants to make one, alright?â She pleads.
âIf he doesnât come back, Iâm going to look like such an idiot.â You groan, wiping a hand over your face.
âYeah, and if he does, you can thank me by letting me help plan the wedding.â She grins cheekily.
âThat was already the plan.â You remind her, âIf I ever decide to get married, that is.â You add.
âI know. Meet me outside when youâre done.â She sends you one last self-satisfied smirk and sheâs off.
You watch her walk out, and the awkwardness you feel sets in immediately. Your eyes scan the diner, but Jeongin is nowhere in sight. You pull out your phone in an attempt to look busy.
You wait there at the table, alone, for a few minutes, and in those few minutes, nothing happens, other than your confidence waning. Chaeyoungâs already texting you, looking for updates.
Youâre beginning to think that maybe you both got it wrong. Maybe he really was just being friendly. It is part of his job, you suppose. You were really trying not to turn nothing into something, but you had started to feel like there was something there.
You gather your things, reluctantly standing up to leave. Your eyes catch the sign for the bathroom, and you decide you might as well use it before you go. You check your appearance in the mirror just in case there was some chance you would see Jeongin again before you leave. Still holding onto some kind of hope.
When you come back out of the bathroom, you see that Jeongin is now manning the front desk rather than taking orders, which means you must walk past him if you want to leave. Great.
As you get closer to the front desk, your nerves settle in, because now youâre contemplating whether you should just be the one to make the first move. Youâre still figuring out how you want to approach this when he beats you to it.
âHey wait!â Jeongin suddenly calls out to you, âHere.â His outstretched hand holds your credit card.
âOh my God, thank you. Donât want to forget that.â You stumble nervously, taking the card from him and pocketing it. Your head was so wrapped up in thoughts of him you almost made a terrible mistake.
âYeah, sorry. I swear I wasnât trying to like, steal it. I took the dishes back to the kitchen, then I came over here to scan your card, but the machine was malfunctioning. I got it, though. When I looked over, your table was empty, so I assumed you both left.â He awkwardly apologizes.
âNo, no, of course you werenât.â You reassure him. Silence settles between the two of you as you try to muster up the courage to make a move.
âSo,â You start awkwardly, âI was wondering if I could maybe get your number?â You rush out.
âReally? I mean, yeah, I actually wanted to ask you for yours.â He says in surprise, hand coming up to touch his face again.
âGuess I beat you to it.â You joke and he laughs. He pulls his phone out, which prompts you to pull out yours. You trade phones, each creating a contact for the other. You wish each other a good day once again and you leave him to finish his shift.
Your heartbeat is still pounding in your chest and ears as you walk out the door, a sigh of relief leaving you. You stop to cheer a few steps away from the door, hoping he wasnât still watching. Your smile is so wide itâs starting to hurt a bit.
âSo, howâd it go?â Chaeyoung asks, but the grin youâre sporting tells her all she needs to know.
Your phone pinging stops you from responding, instead choosing to look at the text you just received. That also tells her all she needs to know. The intense grin remains on your face as you read it over.
Jeongin đŚ: Hey, itâs Jeongin (from the diner haha). I really want to take you out sometime. Want to see a movie this weekend?
You grin at the cute emoji he chose for himself, finding it fitting somehow, before you type back a reply, accepting his offer.
[6:37 PM] felix had always kept you a secret from the public.
tonight the boys had a concert and you got to watch it live-streamed from his room on the tv.
it was always wonderful to see your boyfriend in his element, dancing and singing until the time came to where he would talk to his fans and members on stage.
you were listening to felix and chan go back and forth, and suddenly you heard your name slip out of his mouth.
the remote fell from your hands as the crowd started screaming. he tried to come up with a quick alibi. even the boys were shocked.
curling up on his bed, you knew that the fans were crazy. there was no way he could hide from here. you turned off the tv, sitting in silence as you processed the devastating situation.
after sitting in your thoughts for so long, tears began to fall from your eyes. you began to hyperventilate, terrified of the outcome.
âbaby?â felixâs soft voice spoke, entering the room.
running to your side, you felt a dip in the bed and shoved yourself into him.
he already knew why you were so upset.
laying down, felix let you cuddle up on his chest, grabbing your hand and holding it tightly. âdo you wanna talk about it? or do you just want to calm down?â
âthe world is gonna hate this, theyâre gonna hate me.â
âthe world doesn't matter. you matter.â
you nodded as he let out a deep sigh, kissing the top of your head, ânothing is going to change. i wonât talk about you again, iâll come up with something.â
