The past two years has been a period of seismic change in my life. In almost every way, the ground has shifted under my feet. The one thing I could reach for to ground me was music. I channeled everything into creating something meaningful out of the chaos, and it has for the most part prevailed. I'm astonished that, at this age, I can express such raw emotions without being consumed by them. I don't think I could've done this when I was younger. I know I couldn't have.

Since I started recording again in 2015, I have made nine studio albums, Anna covers album. The first five I did between 2017to 2022, I consider my apprenticeship. I was still trying to figure things out, and sometimes getting it right, and sometimes not. The NEGATIVE SPACE album in 2023 was my graduation. These five albums truly represent everything I'd hope to achieve musically. They have found the balance between lyrics and melody, saying only what you need to say, and taking emotional risks that I never dreamed of taking before. I stopped trying to be like everyone else, and found my identity. Each new release is a challenge to push myself further, to sonically capture experiences that are sometimes difficult to articulate, and do it with greater economy.

I was particularly proud of the fact this year that, in spite of new restrictions on my time, and the demands on me, that I was still able to complete another record. It is a roadmap through the darkness, which, is part of what makes happiness matter. I am fortunate to have good friends that are supportive, critical, and capable of grasping what I'm after. Writing this many songs in such a short time is an a parlor trick. For me, the only way to do another song, is to get the current one out of my mind as quickly as possible. I always need to find another earworm to motivate me.

The next project has already started. There are a lot of new emotions to unpack, a lot of fears and concerns to address. They range from deeply personal, to the collective existential. I also have no idea what's going to happen, and how it's going to affect what I come up with. I just try to let my circumstances be a participant in the creative process. I keep a very light hand on the rudder. I always encourage you to give my music a listen. You may not get it the first time, but it will reward you with you are willing to immerse yourself for a little while.. This music is for these times. It's unflinching, raw, honest, direct. and even cryptically funny. It's not pandering, and never will be. I make this music with the app must respect for you as a listener. That's my promise.
