Has anyone heard of the Count of Monte Cristo musical?

Yesss, I love that dynamic too, also because Hotguy and Grian respectively in a weird way are kind of the most themselves in those identities? Like there’s a reason they’re the MariChat of Double Hearted cause despite how much Grian wants to manipulate Hotguy, he can’t help but be himself and no matter how much Hotguy wants to impress Grian, he will always feel more vulnerable around him, like he owes him genuine expression

Hotguy is so earnest when it comes to Grian, and while Grian likes being flirty and cutesy, I think it’s obvious that he has his limitations as Cuteguy, can’t let himself get close, can’t express his genuine opinion, while as Grian he doesn’t have to worry about that, and it 100% shows with how HG is dead set on impressing Grian but funnily enough not Cuteguy

I think about them a lot hahahah

And yeas, I’ve seen that animatic, and it is really good, however I’m a picky bitch so every time I watch it I can’t help but think “this would fit so much better if Hotguy was singing as Mia and Grian as Sebastian” bleh maybe someday I’ll draw my own version, eh probably not

For tropes, I’m a huge sucker for Fake Dating AUs, Miraculous-type Secret Identity shenanigans are also fun (bahahah Double Hearted), I’m quite privy to the ‘First Kiss’ tag, and I like college AUs but not when they’re students rather I wish I could find more of them where they’re professors

As for dynamics, I really REALLY like fics when they make Grian the more protective one who finds Scar endearing if not exasperating, I also love Scar POVs where they make him a grade A yearner, but in an in-character way, does this make sense? Like I don’t enjoy when fics act like Grian is his top priority in the Life Series games because that’s simply not true, they definitely have a ton of on-again-off-again resentment towards each other but at the same time they can’t help but be drawn to each other’s presence, to feel comforted despite themselves, and I like it when they use Scar’s yearning to play into that

He feels bad but he really has to put himself first at times

I’ve been trying to find Hermitcraft-but-specifically-after-3rd-life-and-only-Grian-remembers fics, and I’ve found quite a few goods ones, I wish there were more that offered Scar’s POV though

Like I love the idea of Scar waking up one day and seeing Grian and then just realizing that somehow, someway, in the span of a single night, he has fallen inexplicably and irreversibly head-over-heels in love with Grian and he has no idea why or how this happened but it 100% happened and now he has to deal with it

Back to actual fanfiction I’ve read though, I’ve definitely read my fair share of ‘Grian is sad and Scar is comforting him’ type fics, and they can be really hit or miss at times but augh when they hit, they really hit dude

I think the biggest thing for me is just characterization, like what I consider to be in-character and such because I don’t think I have incredibly specific tastes, I just want them to actually feel like them, and if they end up kissing/making out than that’s a major bonus (Guy who will stalk the ‘kissing’ tag bahahahahah)

Unrelated but it’s got me thinking about it, we need more Hotguy x Grian stuff (DDVAU), I CANNOT be the only one seeing the appeal here, they’re literally the song ‘A Lovely Night’, like HG would be Mia and Grian would be Sebastian and I have in depth rantings about why I think they specifically have to sing those parts in the song

People make more Hotguy x Grian stuff for ddvau, they’re my favorite dynamic, THEY’RE SO FUNNY AND CUTE PLEASEEEE

But anyway, I have like a google doc dedicated to just my fanfic recommendations, it has a Life Series/Hermitcraft section; I’ve debated posting it here but also idk, I don’t want it to fall into the hands of the wrong people y’know? It’s like a “everyone who has a link in a commenter” type doc and I don’t feel like intensely moderating it to make sure people don’t grief it or put anything I don’t agree with inside it, and I know comments need to be approved to be officially added but it’s still a hassle y’know?

Ok so, I really enjoy “Fell First vs. Fell Harder”

And so in my head

Scar fell first but Grian fell harder

Cause like idk I personally find it very funny that Scar plays up this macho man with abs and sex appeal and stuff and Grian just like, doesn’t care most of the time, like he shrugs it off or sometimes gets annoyed but when Scar plays into sillier personalities or accidentally says something suggestive, that’s when Grian is most endeared, because it’s not a macho man thing, it’s just Scar being Scar

Which like, I can understand if people interpret the annoyance as being flustered, I see that sometimes and I do think you can do that too, this is more me saying they should do that plus acknowledge how Scar does cute and silly things that make Grian feel very endeared

Also cause like, Grian very clearly likes cute things a lot, so I think it would be more meaningful if he found Scar’s personality genuinely very cute overtime rather than immediately being attracted based on Scar’s superficial “hotness” which is something I sometimes see people do

This isn’t hate to people who write it like that, just my personal tastes/observations; I think appearance can be a factor but it’s not the only factor, y’know? Like I would argue Scar’s personality carries, cause if he was just some muscular guy than I don’t think Grian would care all that much, it’s the fact that he’s Scar is what makes Grian enjoy being around him

Also because I feel like some of the best Scarian moments are when it’s clear that Grian is finds Scar very cute/endearing, Grian calls Scar a MUNCHKIN for crying out loud! He really enjoys Scar’s cuter/sillier side

Other examples I can think of at the top of my head are how in Double Life when Scar’s gets like comically grateful saying “thank you 🥺” and then you can hear how Grian finds it very endearing/nearly laughs because it’s so cute, and then another one is how in Real Life (the SMP not irl), when he sees how little Scar is he gives him a hug and goes “awwww” while laughing and then brings Scar along with him

Everyone should start drawing Scar and Grian trapped in boxes together, and if you do it then you should tag me in it
