Seriously, I can see why Louis is reacting that way; dating an Armand-level fantasist will tend to sensitize you to anything remotely resembling deception in the future, and Louis is definitely still in the healing stage from that whole mess.

And like, when I first heard the premise of the Gabrielle-Lestat thing, I did assume he was the initiator of that whole relationship.

But, having now watched the season, it’s very clear to me that even if he made her a vampire, she remained very much his mother — the parent who had been the safer of two awful parents, and the one who occasionally bestowed a little affection on him (while mostly disappointing him and abdicating in her duty to protect him); and then, suddenly, she began treating him as her friend, and that can be intoxicating.

I speak from experience, as the child of two nightmare people with huge boundary issues. No CSA, but a lot of very toxic and deeply-inappropriate parenting.
