for a brief moment he cannot help but to  pause ;      draw himself back a fraction and eye the stranger from head to toe before a  smirk  curls his mouth.        ❛  really ?  ❜       hands are dipped into his pockets,     shoulders given a small shrug.       ❛   what’cha got ?  ❜

He was always the victim to their blame, those who watched them from the outside in. But those who watched close enough near the end would see she was never a saint. She was as much, if not more to blame. A woman with two faces, a voice dripping with sweet tones as the cursed him. She set his heart on fire only to watch it turn to ash. They called her strong, resilient, but in truth she was as much of a devil as they damned him to be. They deserved each other, would be what they would have said if they knew the truth. If they saw her in the light that he did, if they saw who she was in truth. Instead, they were were going down in a way that was a tragic as their love story had always been. She’d seen forever in his eyes, only to watch it slip away and leave her aching for something that could give her what she craved. The love she ached for since she was a child, but in truth she’d found and destroyed it. She never was deserving of it and by God, she hoped he would find someone else. Someone who wouldn’t hurt him. She loved the man she BELIEVED him to be and not the man he was or even became. He deserved a better, kinder love.  She tried to play into the banter they once had, but that was gone–jokes were not jokes, they were cruel reminders of what she had done to him. Treating him like a JOKE. Not anymore, not again–never again. “Jasper, if I stay as long as I want–I won’t leave. That’s why I said that.” She interrupts, knowing now was NOT the time for this. But when was it the right time with them? “Lead the way,” both hands grasping his arm as he leads her up, she was far from being a strong swimmer. “Okay, okay, I will too. It will be a while before I leave. Taking care of dad’s stuff, moving him–I got two weeks. Okay? Are we swimming out of here? Jasper, tell me there’s SOMETHING we can float on.”

        she knew the way he stumbled in sometimes; she didn’t really think too much about it. she just thought he was having a good time with the people he hung out with. luckily, she wasn’t the jealous type. she was confident enough in whatever they had to know he wouldn’t stay out late with someone else, in any special type of way. at least, he’s given her no reason to think otherwise, so the thought never even crosses her mind. 

         but she’s sitting there, her naked legs swings softly back and forth as she waits for jasper to come into view. AND THERE HE IS. damnit. she wants to be a annoyed that he’s so late again, or at least act like it, but once she see him, and hears his voice and the way his words spill from his lips, she can’t help but to smile.    “ don’t i always? ‘ her voice was sleepy, a bit rough as she speaks, but her hands travel their way up to his neck; her thumbs brush against each side of his jaw before she leans in a bit. her lips brush against his softly, teasingly, before she pulls away against. ‘ i was VERY sad when i woke up and you weren’t with me. ‘ she tosses on an exaggerated faux frown before her tongue slips out along her bottom lip. 

     he could spend the rest if his life kissing her but then no WORK would get done.   what left them like this in the first place.      “you know monty-- once he gets worked up.    and i was too high to drive so i had to wait for an uber.”   he watches her lip carefully.       “i’m here now.”    his hands travel up to grip her waist. she’s in between his legs, now he’s surrounded by her and getting that light headed feeling all over again.    “you don’t know how much i missed you too, baby girl.”    he hums a light chuckle and dips his head to press his lips against her neck.   “don’t i always??”   he repeats her previous question.   rhetorical.     any moment he’s not next to her jasper feels like something is missing.      she makes him feel whole again.
