After she makes her disinterest that much more apparent, Thane couldn’t help a smirk as he glances over to the male who seems a bit embarrassed. “Ooo, swing and a miss.” Thane taunts before reaching for the guy’s shoulder, “you might wanna take that walk now.” he tells the guy which must’ve been his tipping point because he shrugs Thane’s hand off of him. “Don’t put your hands on me.” he warns with his tone becoming tense as he steps up to Thane. Thane looks down to him with little worry, figuring his bark was worse than his bite, “What’re you gonna do about it? Hit-?” He just had to ask, and in the moment it would have taken Thane to finish his question the other’s fist connects right with his cheek instead after being swung with enough force to send Thane back and to the floor. In his defense he did not expect the punch and he hasn’t been in a fight since highschool, Plus he was on his fifth glass of whiskey before working the nerve to approach the two which didn’t make for favorable conditions at all.

“I wouldn’t say smart. I know my shit.” It was all she grew up around, considering both her parents were lawyers. She shrugged her shoulders. “I think that would be the best way for this certain conversation.” 

Thea was good at school. She could remember things and if it was something she loved, she delved right in. “It was a term paper for law school. I have my internship soon.” She looked down at the papers. “Most will divorce. It’s life. Sometimes happen moments are taken away. Nothing you can do about it.”

“Yeah. Sometimes you think you’re marrying one person, but everyone changes through the years. I just became more charitable, she grew more cynic. But that happens” His ex-wife had seen lots, been allowed to do charitable work in all ends of the world, with him paying all bills they needed to pay. “It’s inspiring, and it’s the kind of people we need to make sure don’t get crushed by the world, as the world wants to claim he did it for fame”

Thane was hitting it off with some other patrons in the bar, of course in part because he started buying rounds for everyone after his third drink. He enjoyed having the company regardless of why they drank with him, but really he was trying to impress a woman who he noticed earlier sat at the end of the bar. She was pretty striking, but there had been a male hovering over her for a while now and Thane assumed the woman might’ve been with him. As the night progressed however, she appeared to Thane as if she was trying to ignore the guy, which prompts Thane to walk over and see if he would be needed to intervene, though he was grateful for an excuse to approach her, “Hey, is this kid bothering you?” he asks her directly, not even looking in the male’s direction as he did. “I might be of some assistance.”

“I could easily believe it, my ex wife was that kind. Maybe that’s why it didn’t work in the end” He was still friends with the woman he had been married to for years, whom he had helped raise a young woman with. It had just not worked in the end, for she liked to keep everything that was hers too close, while Edward had a habit of sharing, and trying to help those whom had done nothing wrong. If they did him or someone he cared wrong though… Then he was less giving. “Yeah, it’s the kind of thing that inspires you to help pay off all the lunch debt in schools where there are kids who might not be able to afford food, don’t you agree? There’s too many children who go without a proper meal all week long”

“That is impressive.” Her leg crossed over the other. She was sitting with her criminology degree and now working on her law degree. “Why wouldn’t you look forward to it?”

Thea sat back in her chair. “You have only being doing this for two years? Do you go to school to become one?” She wasn’t being offensive, she was curious. “Do you think it will happen?” 

“No problem, it’s just a seat, so that’s no problem to share” he said with a light shrug of his shoulders, just lifting the cup of coffee to drink while his gaze fell back down to the words, just raising a brow as the woman spoke again. Well, clearly she was a bit of a talker. Putting the newspaper away, he shrugged his shoulders, before drinking a bit of coffee, before he’d answer her. “It’s like usual. There are new wars, new drama, new problems, but some kid managed to save up a couple thousand dollars to help pay for school lunches for the kids at school who couldn’t pay, which is sweet, and shows a good strength in him”

Thea wrinkled nose at the comment about love. “Ew.” Her face scrunched up. “I mean, you must make a ton of money. Especially if you work with one couple that divorces and they re-marry and use you again. When I think about it, that is pretty smart.”

Thea was not prepared for what the other was going to say. She simply nodded her head, took a small sip of her coffee and smiled. “I find them terrible. Who would ever want to commit to one person for their entire life. Which isn’t entirely true considering how high the divorce rate is, and most marriage don’t make it past two years, or if they do, either one, or both, are cheating on each other. Sex with one person for the rest of your life has to be boring.”

Isaac was only half paying attention as he sat there, his eyes never truly looking up from book that sat on the table to the side as he ate his food. His eyes moving quickly from left to right, though he had already ready this particular book at least twice before. When he heard a voice he didn’t respond immediately, instead his eyes quickly moved to a stopping point before he glanced up at the young woman standing in front of him. “Oh—-no” his eyes glancing around to see the reason she was asking was there were no open seats “Please have a seat. No one is sitting there” his hands closed the book and moved it back into his bag “Busy here today”.

delilah couldn’t help but roll her eyes. she’d said yes, she didn’t see why she needed to be friendly while doing it. it was a packed room, there was an open chair. she could’ve lied and said someone was joining her, but she’d said yes, regardless of how reluctantly. “look—” she called after the girl, turning to skim the room again. “i had to maim someone to get a table. just sit.”

Edward liked to take his lunch elsewhere than the office, needing a break from seeing the office constantly. That, and he didn’t like the cafeteria of the office, it was too loud, the chicken too stale, and the salads too plain. So he tended to go elsewhere and either order a chicken blt, or something like a salad, depending on how bossy his step-daughter had been recently about his diet. So he sat with a newspaper on his phone, and a plate of an almost untouched chicken burger, when someone approached the table, and he looked up, giving a smile in return. “No, it’s free so feel free to take the seat, miss”

choosing to not waste her time by trekking back across the city before dropping in on a prospective client that afternoon, delilah had forgotten that doing so came with the inevitable crush of nearly everyone in the city emptying into the streets and cafés at once. the only good thing was that she’d managed to snag a table by “accidentally” spiking someone’s instep with the heel of her shoe and swiftly slipping into a seat. she’d only just managed to unlock her phone and fish a few papers from her bag when a voice interrupted her thoughts. tempted to say it was, the brunette took a glance around and frowned. “all yours, i guess,” she sighed.

“I needed it because I probably would have just fucking up relationships and not giving a shit. Something about you—–changed it. I think i sincerely cared about you as something more” he hadn’t loved her, well at least he didn’t think he did, but it was something that he hadn’t felt for someone else in awhile. “I hope so. I truly hope so”.

This was going to be painful. Silence echoed around them for a good thirty seconds. She was trying to figure out a way to excuse herself, then it dawned on her that she was here first and shouldn’t have to leave. It would take more effort to pack up. Thea sighed looking over at the other. “You are telling me there is nothing interesting about you? That I find hard to believe.”
