Seal Dante Plz

When Nero saw the portal, he expected Vergil and Dante to pass through, not a child with the same hair color as him. He waved happily at Nero, then waited for Vergil to come out.

Vergil greeted Nero, who dropped a wrench that he had been using to fix Nico’s van.

“Seriously, another?” Nero snapped once he saw a child with Vergil. “How many children do you have wandering around?”

Dante got behind Vergil’s legs, hiding in his trench coat. “Why is he yelling? We didn’t do anything wrong, right?”

“Cease your outburst, Nero. It’s a misunderstanding,” Vergil stated, his lips curling into a frown. “This is Dante.” He gestured towards the boy under his coat.

“You named him after your brother? What the fuck? Better than naming him a fucking color, I guess!” Nero glared at Vergil. “You must be happy finding one so young. You can actually be there for him!”

Vergil said nothing. He simply went to the back where Dante told him the bathroom was.

Dante focused on checking if everything in his office was still there. The picture of his mom stood on the edge of the desk where it’s supposed to be. Each drawer had everything too. He sighed in relief. He didn’t want to bitch at anyone since it wasn’t their fault for his choices.

He still couldn’t believe Vergil was there with him. He never thought it was possible for them to be true brothers again. Dante smiled and glanced at his mom’s photo, saying, “Just like before, Mom. You would’ve been proud.”

He heard the showerhead turned on. Right. Vergil needed something clean. As he headed upstairs, he grabbed extra clothes. He’s not going to appreciate looking like Dante, but it’s only for the moment. They could go shopping later. He made his way towards the guest room, hoping it was decent, and it was. Vergil would stay there.

He’s aware he’s getting ahead of himself. Vergil never stated he’s going to live with Dante, only that he’d come back from hell. Still, Dante would give him the option. He learned that demanding things from Vergil didn’t bode well with him.

Knocking on the bathroom’s door, he shouted, “I brought you some clothes and a towel! I’ll just leave it near the tub.” He quickly entered, knowing Vergil hated his privacy breached. “I bet hot water feels good— What the hell are you doing?” 

Vergil was not showering, in fact, he was sitting on the toilet still dressed in his bloody clothes. He wore an unreadable expression.

Dante frowned. “If I knew you weren’t going to do this, I could’ve been the one showering first!”

“I called dibs, remember?” Vergil replied flatly.

“You even have the water running!” Dante rushed to turn it off.

“It’s cold water.” Like it made a difference. Okay, it did. Hot water would’ve taken a while to heat up.

“Seriously?” Dante put the clothes down. “What’s wrong, Verge?” He sat on the tub’s rim, being on the same height as his brother.

Vergil raised his head, locking gaze with Dante’s worried face, then he looked away. He gripped Yamato’s hilt. “I don’t know what to do next. For the first time in my life, I’m lost. My main goal throughout my life was to gain power…”

A sad goal, Dante thought bitterly.

“Well, you have us. Me and Nero.”

“Please don’t mention him. I don’t need confusion added into this,” Vergil grumbled.

Dante let out a chuckle. “What I’m trying to say is that it’s okay to feel like this. Been there, done that.”

“You have?” Vergil narrowed his eyes at him, not believing Dante.

“Yeah. You think I kill demons for fun? Hell no! I kill them because I do it to protect the people that can’t. It took me a long time to understand that. I was a very dumb teenager.”

“I can imagine,” Vergil said dryly.

Dante smacked his shoulder. “Don’t sweat the small stuff, Vergil. You’ll figure it out. You always do. Until then, you’re welcome with me. Join the family business.”

Vergil gave him a small smile. “Thank you, Dante.”

“Anytime. Now go shower, you stink.” He laughed when Vergil kicked his shin.
