Maybe an older brother FIGURE then?
Can't say I'll be a good influence, but sure. If that's how you want to view me as, go right on ahead kid.
Art from the art trade I did with @vergils-wife >< <33
I like to imagine the the moment Vergil see Nero's devil trigger he is in completely awe. By the time this happens Nero and vergil have already gotten close and formed a father son Bond in the short time they've known each other.
So as mentioned when vergil see Nero's devil trigger he is completely in because he could feel the power radiating off Nero and despite being still Fairly young Nero is is incredibly strong. And vergil is just feeling this strong sense of pride that a father feels towards their child in situations such as this.
But the problem the fact that Nero blacks out every time his devil trigger activates and there's a lot happening like somehow dark com found Fortuna and is now there to talk Nero after hearing rumors that he might be a threat.
Vergil deciding he doesn't want his son to get hurt gently tries to get him back to senses. And it almost worked like Nero grew less hostel and chaotic, leaning into vergil's touch but then right when it seems like Nero was about to get more docile. A darkcom soldier shoots Nero in his side cause him to snap back into fight or flight mode and was about to attack but apparently the bullet he was shot with injured Nero to bleed badly causing him to pass out convert back to his human form.
And vergil...oh Vergil is not too happy. So much that if it wasn't for the fact that he was worried about his son currently bleeding in his arms. Vergil would take yamato and remove both of the hand of the soldiers shot his child before killing him.
Nero's shock
Thinking about the moment in DMC5 when Dante reveals to Nero that Vergil is his father.
I don't think the fandom really talks about that moment all too much, at least on my corner of the internet, because it's such common knowledge that Vergil is, without a doubt, Nero's father.
But in the game verse, there'd been no hint, no tell that Vergil was even remotely connected to Nero in the slightest until DMC5, outside of appearance. There might have been something here and there in DMC4 tho, but don't quote me I haven't played that game in forever.
Either way, I think about Nero's shock a lot. I mean, the way he grew up within the religious teachings of the City of Fortuna, of course he hid his devil arm all his life, whatever, yada yada, he's a one of a kind up until the events of dmc4 where suddenly this powerhouse of a man shows up and shoots the high priest ?? And he kind of sort of looks like Nero ??
Like, genuinely, regardless of how Nero and Dante's relationship unfolded between the events of dmc4 and 5, I really think Nero wholeheartedly thought Dante was his father. And who could blame him, tho. They have very similar wit, they look alike, since Dante is literally Vergil's twin, and they have similar (relatively) fighting styles. And Dante is the only one who could even remotely relate to Nero on both a biological and emotional level imo.
I'm sure a lot of people thought the same before it was revealed to be Vergil as the father instead. Which would make sense as a plot twist with everything leading up to the moment.
But idk, I just don't think the fandom talks about Nero wanting Dante to be his dad so bad just for Dante to drop the bomb that Vergil, the man who literally sliced off his arm, is his father instead. In Nero's shoes, i'd pray to everything that could have been listening for Dante to be my dad too, instead of Vergil.
I like to think that, besides the obvious, it's also a source of Nero's anger toward Vergil. Like ofc he has the feeling of "YOU of all people are my father??" Bcs omg big bad, but at the same time I think that thought also can come down to something along the lines of "I wish I had a different father" but not on a good vs evil thing; just on an emotional preference for Dante instead, even if in-verse these things aren't said or really shown ofc but I like to think Nero was utterly devastated at finding out Dante was, in fact, not his father the way he thought he could have been.
Nero and his daddy issues, my beloved

The "sweet" taste isn't something you find in hell, which makes me think Sparda loved sweets. Be it chocolate, candies, cakes, etc. Oh, but nothing surpassed caramel for him; he loved anything with caramel. The boys inherited this passion for sweets; I mean, Dante has his strawberry sundae, and I'm almost certain Vergil would absolutely love blondies and brownies. But the most impressive is Nero. This boy smells like diabetes; – And believe me, Kyrie doesn't help that she's such a great cook; seriously, her desserts are straight from heaven to bless any poor soul who puts a spoonful in their mouth. – he inherited Sparda's passion for caramel. He carries caramel candies all the time and always seems to have some candy in his mouth. It's shocking (like, The twins were lost in a spiral of thought when they realized – almost at the same time – Nero's passion and that uncanny resemblance to his grandpa).
But I don't think it's just the Sparda lineage; Trish also likes sweets, but for some reason, it's the sour candies or those typical Halloween corn candies from the USA. It really doesn't make much sense.
