for a while actually I had an idea in my head that Jake would eventually “retire” from adventuring, that he’s too old to physically keep doing it, except Finn is only 19-20 and in his prime and he can’t just stop adventuring!!! So he needs a new adventuring companion. And that companion becomes his love interest.

the other day I was looking at catboy memes and I realized that this character would HAVE to be a catboy. Initially I pictured a very stereotypical visual kei-style edgy early 2000′s anime catboy who’s morally ambiguous, but not only did I realize that’s a little too close to Marceline’s vibe (not quite, but close enough) but I also realized it’d be WAY FUNNIER if he were just like. A Regular Guy. but also a catboy
