hi friends! some of you may know me as em, emmy, or imjinxed on ao3 lol. I'm not nearly as active on here as I am on twitter, but I'm gonna try to use this as an outlet for my 23728983329 fic ideas since it is literally impossible to write all of them and I already have too many in progress ones. anyway! be expecting some "mini" fics to get various ideas out of my head as well as updates for my main fics!
currently arcane is still my main focus (jinx will forever have my heart), but I also love httyd, spiderverse, and kpdh :)
my ao3
my strawpage (feel free to send me any silly messages, questions, or fic ideas/requests you may have)

some days it is so frustrating because I want to write and I can visualize and imagine the scenes I need to write, but my brain just won't cooperate. like how do I put what's playing in my head into words that capture the imagery and emotion?? why is it so hard some days and other days I can write 10k words in one sitting??
timebomb and greek mythology parallels and a rebuttal for all the "ekko only loves powder" people
Today, while I was at the gym, I was listening to Epic: The Musical during my workout to feed the timebomb and greek mythology hyperfixation, and I thought about the fact that Powder and the AU essentially act as a parallel of Calypso and the island paradise in Ekko's story. Ekko ends up trapped in this alternate universe that seems like paradise, and he has the chance to be with this version of the girl that he loves without all the pain and tragedy that shaped their lives in his universe, and yet, he never gives in to that temptation.
This is one of the many reasons why timebomb is such a compelling love story to me, and why I will never understand when people say that Ekko only loved Powder. That claim is almost comical because the animation literally shows us that he essentially sees Jinx when he looks at Powder, shown when he first gets to the AU and we see Jinx as Powder's reflection in the glass. He sees Jinx in Powder and vice versa because at their core, they are the same person...the person he loves.
Throughout his time in the AU, we never really see any sign that Ekko is even considering the thought of staying. The entire time, he is working on finding a way home and dedicated to getting home. If he truly only loved Powder, he would've stayed with her. The AU was essentially everything he had ever wanted, Benzo is alive, Vander, Mylo, and Claggor are alive, the Undercity is prospering and living in harmony with Piltover, and of course, he is romantically involved with Powder. He could've been selfish and tempted by the paradise he had stumbled upon, but we know Ekko isn't a selfish person, so his desire to get back to the Firelights and Jinx never faltered.
In the Odyssey, Calypso tempts Odysseus with life in paradise where he would never have to worry about war or bloodshed ever again, but all Odysseus wants to do is return home to Penelope. This is the same with Ekko. While Powder never directly tempts him or entices him to stay, her character as a whole is a temptation for Ekko. While Ekko convinces himself that Jinx is a lost cause, he still mourns for Powder, and when he's with Powder he's faced with this almost idyllic version of her, only to realize that even she isn't truly happy, and there's a piece of her that's missing. He also knows that not only would he be stealing someone else's life, but Powder would never truly understand him in the way that Jinx can. He and Jinx have both been through hell and can heal together, but with Powder, he would be living a lie.
The fact that, even after everything, Ekko still goes back for Jinx is such a testament to how selfless he is, and it ties in with the Orpheus and Eurydice parallels that timebomb has because Ekko choosing to go back to a world where he's almost certain to endure more tragedy and violence is the equivalent of choosing to walk into hell to get back to Jinx.

what does it mean when I’m a hopeless romantic when it comes to consuming media (at least with tragic, star-crossed lovers), but the thought of romance and intimacy in real life terrifies me? I want the emotional intimacy of someone understanding me better than I understand myself some days and someone that’s willing to follow me into hell (and in turn I’ll follow them into hell too), and I think only then is when I will feel comfortable enough for physical intimacy, but that doesn’t even feel like an attainable expectation in today’s society, if it was ever a realistic expectation at all. I feel like I crave the kind of romance and affection that only exists in the most tragic love stories, and maybe that’s just another testament to how unattainable love feels to me
Just watched supergirl and oh my god i am so obssed with the fact that we have a female main character and shes sloppy and snippy and rude and an alcoholic and messy and flawed. And yet shes still able to be kind and good and be an inspiration to people. All while not having a romance and while not trying to appeal to anyone. This is what everything should be.
there is something about the story of Orpheus and Eurydice that is so insanely compelling to me. the fact that he loved her so much he was willing to risk his own life and literally walk through hell to find her and that ultimately, he was so worried about losing her, he went against all logic to make sure she was still with him. it's so tragic, but such a good story. lately I have been so obsessed with the Hadestown soundtrack and I found out that it's going to be in theaters on July 24th and I convinced my mom to go with me, and it was excellent food for the brain worms. in the meantime, I've been writing timebomb as Orpheus and Eurydice because it works for them soooo well. Ekko quite literally left what was essentially a perfect universe to go back to hell for her. he literally has to convince her to come with him and that life is worth living, and he both succeeds and fails, and that's part of what makes their story so compelling too. the end of season 2 isn't even the first time they've had that dynamic, either, which is part of what makes Ekko's "always a dance with you" comment that much more meaningful because they've been trapped in this cycle of him going back for her, and failing, but in that moment, he succeeds, just to lose her anyway, which is arguably even more tragic than Orpheus and Eurydice. anyway here's a snippet of my timebomb as Orpheus and Eurydice fic because my brain is full of worms :P

why is it that some days I can sit down and write like 8k words in one sitting and then literally the next day all I can do is stare blankly at the screen for hours🙃
I've been listening to Epic: The Musical a lot recently, and I have seen many excellent Arcane edits to various songs, and several timebomb edits have inspired this idea of timebomb as a spin on Penelope and Odysseus. This is mostly inspired by the songs "The Challenge", and "Would You Fall in Love with Me Again", but it is *loosely* inspired lol.
In this world, Ekko finds Powder before Silco does, and they grow up, find the tree, and start the Firelights together. During this time, Silco takes over and pushes shimmer into the Lanes, and he and Powder fight against him both for revenge for their family and to protect/help the people of the Undercity as much as they can.
One day, after Powder gets injured during a fight, Ekko decides he's had enough. He leaves a letter for Powder just in case things don't go well, and he goes rogue to kill Silco. Things don't go well, and Ekko never makes it home.
Powder wakes up to find that Ekko is gone, and she panics when she sees Ekko's letter. She waits and waits, holding onto the hope that he's alive, but he never comes home. She shuts herself off from everyone as she grieves, and starts to hallucinate him. She blames herself for his disappearance and presumed death, and starts going by Jinx.
Eyes are on her to lead the Firelights and decide what to do about fighting Silco. The Firelights become divided over the issue and there's arguments over who should take over as leader. Jinx snaps and basically tells them all that none of them can replace Ekko, and she says that he'll be back, which leads to the Firelights believing she's delusional and undermining her ideas and decisions.
Jinx starts building explosive and recklessly picking fights with Silco's goons and independently attacking shimmer shipments as a outlet for her rage. Eventually, she gets sick of waiting, and decides to go after Silco on her own, just like Ekko did. Her hope that Ekko would ever come home had died, and if she's past the point of caring if she dies, so she figures she may as well try.
She has the advantage of remembering the layout of The Last Drop from when she lived there with Vander, and she uses that knowledge to sneak into the building and get into Silco's office. She drops in on Silco and tries to kill him, but he was prepared and injects her with shimmer.
Silco has her locked up and taunts her by saying that Ekko was dead, and that he had cried for her when he died, but she wasn't there to save him, and now she had nobody to save her.
MEANWHILE...
When Ekko made his attempt to take down Silco, Silco decided not to kill Ekko yet because he knows that under the right circumstances, he can be used as bait to lure Jinx out. He has his goons beat Ekko, and send him to Stillwater instead. While Ekko is in prison, Ekko reunites with Vi, and they spend their time plotting their escape and killing any of Silco or the other chembaron's goons. Both of them are driven by their desire to get back to Powder, and it takes longer than they would like to escape, but after two years of planning, they finally get an opportunity to get out.
Ekko takes Vi back to the Firelight base, and is so relieved to be home, just to find out that Jinx had been captured by Silco. Ekko is furious, and he and Vi go to The Last Drop to confront and kill Silco. When they get there, Vi takes care of all the goons guarding the place, and Ekko searches for Jinx and Silco. He finds Silco, and this time, he's prepared and doesn't hesitate. Ekko attacks Silco and demands to know where Jinx is, Silco refuses to tell him, so Ekko kills him. He decides that he'll take his chances with finding Jinx himself, because he knows Silco can't be trusted anyway.
Downstairs, after killing all of Silco's men, Vi wanders down to the basement that used to be the room she shared with Powder, Mylo, and Claggor when they lived there with Vander. She opens the door and finds Jinx locked in there.
Jinx is still under the influence of shimmer, and is convinced that Vi is just a hallucination until Vi hugs her. Jinx can't even bring herself to care about all the complicated emotions or how Vi is even there, she's just relieved that someone did come to save her. She tries to warn Vi about Silco, and Vi reassures her that she doesn't need to worry anymore and that Ekko was taking care of it.
Despite the fact that as far as she knew, Vi had been dead for nearly a decade and was now holding her and that Vi had no reason to lie to her, Jinx can't stop herself from feeling skeptical. For so long, people had called her crazy and delusional for believing Ekko was still out there somewhere. She still wasn't entirely sure that Vi wasn't just a detailed figment of her imagination, and allowing herself to hope seemed dangerous.
Ekko finally makes his way down to the basement, and Jinx's eyes widen when she sees him, and she rushes to him. He holds her and she clings to him and sobs with relief. After two years of being alone and wondering what had happened to him, he was with her again. She had her family back.
