1. He kissed me in the hallway of my high school and in his bedroom at 1am as his sister slept next door. He wasn’t technically my “first,” but he took much more of me than my virginity, so he can have that too. 2. He kissed me as I got out of a taxi, and then I took him to my room. He was the first boy I’d had sex with more than once, and he was the heaviest sleeper I’ve ever met. Both of our fathers had affairs, and we handled it much differently. I lost his phone number, but it didn’t matter; he would’ve stopped calling anyway. 3. He kissed the cigarette paper between his fingers. He kissed me in his bed and in my bed and on the forehead and in the train station. I’ll never forget that train station, as important business people carrying briefcases rushed by us while we cried. I don’t think I’d ever kissed someone while I was crying before then. 4. He kissed me in front of his dogs and my friends, but not in front of his friends. He told me he didn’t like my hair braided. I told him to fuck off. He found a pretty, boring girl who will listen to him tell the same stories over and over again and not tell him to shut the hell up like I did. I hope he’s happy- I’d rather be alone than unhappy.

I know that it’s hard, to deal with this distance between us, but this wouldn’t be a hindrance on how I will love you everyday, and that’s all that matters to me right now.
