Nijimura remembering his S/O back in Japan and he's telling some friends he made about her and how he can't wait to see her again :)
Nijimura had moved to the states for more than one reason. He moved so he could be closer to his father who was receiving treatment in America, and to be close to his family. He also moved to attend University there. The only downfall of moving was the fact that he had to leave his partner back in Japan. They had been dating since his first year of high school, and he hated the idea of leaving her. The idea was that she was suppose to go to America with him, but when she got accepted into the university of her choice, plans changed.
Neither wanted to break up and the idea of long distance wasn’t appealing, but they made it work. He was coming to the end of his first year of university, and they had spent as much time as possible contacting one another through calls, texts and video calls. The time difference made it difficult, but neither of them was ready to give up on one another. This only made Nijimura love her even more than before, especially on the nights she fought to stay awake so she could talk to him. There was more than one occasion where she had fallen asleep during a call or cam session, and Nijimura couldn’t help but smile and watch her sleeping figure or listen to her steady breathing. During any of their breaks, they would visit one another. Whether it was him going back to Japan or her coming to America, they would spend every waking hour with one another during that time.
“Hey, Shūzō, are you coming?”
Nijimura looked up from his textbook, noticing a couple of his friends waiting in the aisle between the rows of seats, books in hand. Class had just ended, and Nijimura had been daydreaming about the summer vacation where he was going to return to Japan for. He smiled, nodding his head.
“Yeah, sorry, just a sec.” His accented english was something his friends gotten use to. At first it took a while for them to understand him, but now it was rather easy.
He gathered his books before getting to his feet. He grabbed his cellphone from the desk, the small charm jingling. It was the male character from his partner’s favourite anime, as well as a small bell. It was a matching set with hers, which she carried the female character charm. She had given it to him at the airport during their last visit.
“What is that anyways?” Another one of his friends questioned, indicating to the charm on Nijimura’s phone. They had walked out of the classroom and towards the cafeteria for lunch.
“It’s a matching charm set,” Nijimura explain with a fond smile. “It matches my girlfriend’s charm.”
“Oh, the mystery girl you talk to.” His buddy on the left chuckled, nudging the male’s shoulder. “So, is she good looking?”
His cheeks dusted a light pink, but he answered confidently. “She’s beautiful, appearance and personality wise.” A chorus of ‘oohs’ ran around him as Nijimura chuckled, shaking his head. “She is really great. I have been dating her since my first year of high school, oh, so it would be second year of high school here.”
“So you been with her since Sophomore year, wow, that has been a while.” They chuckled, the asian male nodding his head. “What she like anyways?”
Setting his things on the table, he sat down as he friends sat either next to him or across from him. “She’s great, really. She’s smart, extremely smart. She is finishing up her first year in law. She has a high sense of responsibility and very independent. She is very funny, always making jokes and laughing. It makes me laugh too. Also, very kind, and a great cook.”
His buddies all chuckled at the last comment. They all knew that Nijimura was a sucker for good food, so they assumed that he would look for someone who had skills in the kitchen.
“She is a greta person, I am very lucky. It’s hard being so far away, but we make it work. I know it’s hard on her, but she always puts a smile on for me, so it makes me want to do better so I can make it up to her.”
“You really like her, don’t you?”
Nijimura nodded his head, running his fingers over the charm. He missed her dearly. “Yeah. I can’t wait until the semester is over, so I can go back to Japan to see her.”
“Only two more weeks there buddy,” he was slapped on the back as he chuckled, agreeing with his friends. His plane was to leave the day after his last exam, so in exactly fourteen days.
“Here, let’s take a picture!” One of his friends grabbed his phone, as his other friends crowded around him. The one with his phone stretched out their arm, snapping a picture of a surprised Nijimura, while all his friends were grinning. They entered a tagline saying ‘only fourteen days till we send lover boy back to you’ before sending it to Nijimura’s partner.
“H-hey!” He reached for the phone. “She won’t see it till the morning anyways, she is probably sleeping.”
Only seconds later, his phone buzzed with her ring tone as his buddies grinned, opening the text message and all gathering around the phone. It was a picture of his partner, dressed in their favourite pyjamas and giving them a peace sign with the caption; “thank you! I can’t wait to see him, thank you for taking care of him!”
“She’s adorable!” They gushed, as Nijimura huffed, taking the cell back.
He glanced at the photo and smiled, seeing the caption which was in english. The very end of the caption had returned to Japanese as he smiled fondly, seeing the familiar kanji for ‘I love you’.
