One thing I love about Jon the most is that he remembers. He loves. Hard. Itβs the smallest details that tell of his heart. How many times has he recalled snow melting in Robbβs hair - I do not think itβs a new observation. But it still amazes me from time to time, that he finds so much sadness, love, and perhaps comfort in a mere glimpse. And amongst them all, maybe this one with Sam is my favorite.
He meant it for Sam, you know. Not just thinking of Robb - not the only reason. But he truly felt a pang of fondness for his friend at that very moment. Itβs almost overwhelming. Sam would never know why Jon said those exact words, why he said that like a farewell and yet, at the same time - the strange, gentlest Take care, take care. Itβs past love and present love all at once. And yet. Itβs only one of the thousands of relived memories sweeping over him.
