actually no i’m not done talking about luke and jess bc now im thinking about how luke was probably the first adult to ever really express physical affection with him, the first adult to ever openly and obviously give a shit about him and push him to be better and believe in him, the first adult who actually respected him enough to try and keep his personal/dating life separate (like it’s clear jess wasn’t used to this given the “im just gonna go walk around for an hour”—he had the expectation that if a parent brought an adult home that meant he had to clear out of the house), the first adult to actually talk to him like he’s a human being with potential, the first adult to give him advice, the first adult he ever trusted enough to open up to, to confide in (“I told her I loved her”) and fall back on. im having a breakdown
