One of the strongest people around.

Getting chewed out by someone half his size and somehow losing.

He knows he looks dumb right now, he’s vaguely aware of it at least.

But the way you defend yourself, the fierce look in your eye that’s unwilling to back down.

It stirs something in him, something… hot and almost primal.

When you finally finish your rant, chest heaving and anger slowly simmering, he’s practically staring at you with stars in his eyes.

Your angry little frown deepens, “Anything to say?”

You huff, turning around and grumbling under your breath.

The Duke had watched his brother die and with the life of his brother many other things were lost too. He was more muscular, quite but his smile never faded around you. Almost losing him in battle made you realise your feelings for the Duke.

On the night of your wedding you tried to button his shirt when you saw a scare across his chest. He sees the sadness in your eyes and kisses your cheek. Little did you know the scar was not from foe but from himself. Because what you didn't know is that the real Duke was dead...
