The guide has PTSD and often is “triggered” and begins to break down when someone says “fire” and “death” in the same sentence, or if someone mentions the wall of flesh, not because he’s connected to it, but it’s still horrifying, sometimes the guide has trouble sleeping with nightmares, and breaks down over what seems to be nothing.

The reason why the guide doesn’t upgrade his bow in hardmode is because the bow was passed down to him from his dying father. The guide occasionally goes into his house and cries in front of his bow.

the corruption, crimson, and hallow have different effects depending on how long you stay in them. corruption causes ashiness/paleness, patches of dead skin, and the feeling of bugs p/something crawling under your skin, and a creature that stays too long hallucinates their body rotting away. crimson causes headaches, nosebleeds/excessive bleeding, and strange growths on the body (usually muscle or bone), and a creature that stays too long hallucinates their body growing, twisting and changing. hallow causes lightheadedness, obsessions with “purity” and the sensation of extreme speed, and a creature that stays too long in the hallow hallucinates a lack of danger, allowing hallow enemies to overpower it.

when the guide calls the player “kid” during thunderstorms/in a graveyard biome and “buddy” during a blood moon, it’s sort of like “as you wish” from the princess bride - he’s telling the player he loves them. once the player catches on, they start using pet names for him too, and the guide considers it an expression of friendship. he does wonder if it’s more, though - especially when the player says “darling” a little too sweetly.

The Player hates thunderstorms, mostly due to the fact that they were once struck by lightning. The guide wouldn't believe it even happened unless he wasn't there to see it happen with his own eyes.

Guide owns a guitar and loves playing it to the player, and the player loves listening to him.
